I'm getting back into scrapbooking after taking a couple of years off. I'm working on a mini album of a Caribbean Cruise I went on last year. Over the weekend I worked on my new project at my desk in my craft room and quickly got frustrated at how little room I had to work on the pages - and how much space my iMac, Silhouette, and photo printer takes up on my desk. When I lay all the patterned paper, cardstock, and embellishments that I plan to use my desk is a mess and it ruins my scrappin' mojo.
Today I stopped by Walmart and got a stand that holds file folders. Then of course I had to run by M's and they had a desk organizer in pink that was 60% off - so I grabbed that too.
Now all of the paper I have to scrapbook my cruise (patterned and card stock) are in the file holder standing up and not spread out all over my workspace. And all of my embellishments are in the little pink organizer. I love it.

I have so many organizers. I love them. I used to have a small Clip It Up for each project I was working on.

That's a pretty good idea. I only have a small desk so if I'm working on a bigger project I toss everything into an iris container but I usually end up having to put it on the floor while I'm working as there's not enough desk space.

I saw someone use an acrylic desk organizer so all the paper for their December Daily was standing up yet they could SEE it all. Watching her (don't remember her name) flip through the paper, sticker sheets etc was like an aha moment. I found a mail organizer and repurposed it and it's sooooo much easier. I'm still using my iris style container to keep all the embellishments sorted, but am thrilled with how it's working!
Isn't it great when we find a solution to our stash messes! So glad you found one that's working for you.

I love things like that. I had an acrylic organizer on my desk to hold paper and embellishments vertically, but it fell over and broke (acrylic is so fragile when loaded with heavy paper). I'm going to look into getting a wire one or something, since I'm obviously not careful enough to be trusted with plastic.
My other desk space tip is to get a rolling cart of some kind (I use a kitchen island cart with 3 shelves) to hold my printer, silhouette, and neutral cardstock. I roll it over next to my desk when I need to print or cut, and roll it back into the corner when I'm assembling a page. I hate having all those big machines in my way when I'm trying to create.

I use a different Iris container for each project I am working on. I even have about 10 of them in my classroom to hold school supplies. They are all labeled and it feels so good when I need a box of colored pencils or rubber bands to be able to lay my hands on them immediately.

Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back. Dang, now I can't get that sing out of my head!
When I am working on a largish project that uses the same set of papers, stamps, inks, embellishments, etc. (like Christmas cards) I like using one of the large Sterlite 3-drawer cubes. Everything stays within reach and easy to find, and I put my tools like my trimmer and ATG on top when I'm not using them.

That's awesome. I keep a raskog (or at least one tray) available for projects I am working on so I can keep stuff off my desk.

I love love love the ease of use of the drawers so they are the most used item in my scraproom. I have a dozen each of the large and medium versions and use them for various things like cardstock scraps and embellishments by color. And though I use it for the occasional current project it never occurred to me to just store some projects in there long term, I always used IRIS 13 X 13 boxes for that. But DUH, so much easier your way. I will have to give that a try!!!

Glad you found a solution that works so well. When I'm working on something I spread stuff out everywhere and often end up working on the floor"

I'm glad you found something that works for you! I need to reorganize my stuff and get ready for a crop I'm going to the end of March. I'll probably procrastinate . . .
