I think it's nothing more than she's had to have a smile frozen on her face for the entire day and her jaws need a rest.

Honestly, I think she has resting bitch face. I have it too, so I am not criticizing. If I am not actively smiling, people think I am pissed.

The smile goes as soon as he isn't looking, a genuine smile fades gradually.

The Eastenders beats are hilarious, but you probably have to be British to think that. For the record, I'm really *not* worried about her but the diversion is amusing.

The smile goes as soon as he isn't looking, a genuine smile fades gradually. This. She isn't smiling before he turns around, so I don't think it's a case of her smiler being tired. Look how he behaves in public when he feels slighted...imagine being behind closed doors with him?

I have a resting bitch face and really get annoyed of people asking me all the time, "are you ok". It really hard to have to make people believe you are the most possitve, happy person at all times. Jen

I'm sure most wives or SO have had a moment like that.
Ask the guy behind her what Trump said.
That given, in my own opinion, they've co-existed for 12 years, at some type of mutually beneficial agreement. For all we know they could be madly in love or he could be a raging control freak and she's trapped.
She may find existence in her son (man--the boy has her cheekbones and face structure) and just wants to be left alone with him.
As for Trump, I believe with all my heart and head that he loathes women, except when he's forcing himself on them kissing them and grabbing their pussy, and that to him she is nothing more than a trophy model who bore him another son.
She is beautiful, and I'm sure that to the office of the president her nude modeling has been somewhat of a blight, but in Donald's head he sees it at a win because she's pretty.

Ha ha, that's hilarious. I think she likes him as much as I do. She obviously muttered "Jackass." after he turned around.

I feel for her. Feel bad the she is being criticized and picked apart. She did not run for office. Her husband did.
Eta - this is not a knock to the op. Just a general thought about Melania's circumstance.

One of my friends posted this on FB yesterday, one guy piped up that the video had probably been reversed (read: vast left-wing conspiracy) and others jumped in to speculate on all the innocuous things that could've been said to cause that reaction. This was my reply:
I think it's kinda irrelevant what was said, anyone who's suffered abuse or has seen the reactions of someone who's suffered abuse recognizes that look of dejected consternation (especially in light of the retracted statements by his first wife - who only retracted her statements after what I assume was a very large settlement). When you add to that all of the photos of her trailing behind him, it's not hard to make the leap that she isn't being treated with the kind of dignity and respect that a wife should be treated with (not that I think he is capable of treating anyone with dignity and respect).

I am starting to have sympathy for her. I just watched a video comparing how Trump and Obama attend to their wives and it made me a little sad for her.

Ivanka behind her right shoulder is smiling too, raises her eyebrows at what he's saying and goes into a not smiling face too.
What does that mean? Who knows!!

Part of me wants to empathize with her but then a teeny bit of doubt says "she chose to marry him, she chose to stay." Why, we don't know..money, wealth, fame, threats, a contract? Who knows...
I can't imagine it's for love and affection.
I just can't imagine living with him. It's got to be exhausting.

FYI, the video was NOT reversed... you can watch the exchange in the background while the minister is giving the prayer, invocation, whatever it's called (it's right before the point where the minister says that it started raining right when Trump came up to the podium)

It's not the one event. It's all the little events. The not waiting for her to go up the stairs (in heels), to not greet her when she came down the stairs, the look, the comments about women, etc.
Have any of the other wives said anything bad about him? You know, the whole past behavior is the best indicator of future behavior.
The funniest thing I saw on FB was "She doesn't need a sugar daddy. Lower her standards and get a glucose daddy."

Maybe she stays with him so her son can have the best life possible, who knows. Maybe she was dazzled at first by money and fame and a nice lifestyle. I think she's probably paid her dues. I'm not going to judge her. I get the distinct feeling that she never wanted nor expected this role.

What is even weirder (IMO) is that when people are on camera, but not talking and they are smiling like the joker for no reason. Looks so crazy. Happens during debates and on news shows.

Maybe we should think about the stage she is on and her reaction to that and less about her marriage. She knows that *millions* of people are watching her, she knows that cameras are pointed at her *every move*, especially when he's in the frame too. She knows that this is a historical moment and will be recorded for all time. She didn't ask to be there but is doing her best because her husband did ask to be there. She's doing her best. Have you ever been under that kind of pressure? No? Well me either.

She left DC on her anniversary to return to her life in NY. That speaks volumes about her views of the American taxpayer and her marriage.

I looked up when they met--
She refused to give Trump her number
The billionaire asked Melania for her number at a party in New York in 1998 – and she said no.
Melania, then 28, was there at the invitation of Paolo Zampolli, the Italian businessman who set her up as a model in the US. The property tycoon – future husband Donald, then a notorious playboy - had arrived with another woman, but he sent her to the bathroom so he could chat up the model.
However, Melania knew his reputation so when he asked for her number she refused and instead asked him for his details.
She told GQ magazine: "If I give him my number, I'm just one of the women he calls."
She waited to see if he would give her a personal or a business number, to assess what his intentions might be. "It tells you a lot from the man what kind of number he gives you," she said.
Trump, it seems, was serious, giving her "all of his numbers", she revealed.
Interesting! She KNEW his reputation with women!!!

My opinion is that she doesn't like him much. I think he has her in an iron clad pre-nup and she is trapped. I think she has built a quiet secluded life with her son, who she adores and really doesn't want any part of this circus. I feel very sorry for her. Her smile is usually fake and never reaches her eyes. I hope she can find a way to have the privacy she wants.

How do you know she didn't ask to be there? Because she didn't run for the office of President. Modeling in a well controlled environment (no matter where the pics end up) in front of a few people and being on a stage in front of the entire world and having it recorded for all of history with no retakes, touchups or second chances aren't even close to the same thing.
