I have ignored scrapbooking for 2 years now. I want to get back into it for some me time. I lurk on here, look at pinterest and galleries and get all motivated and then never scrap. Even an hour over the weekend would do me some good.
Right now I am planning on cleaning off my desk this weekend which has been a catch all of purchases and memorabilia.
I can print prictures at home and have some recent fun ones to scrap all ready to go.
I am seriously thinking about setting an alarm so I have an "appointment" to scrap.
How do you get in the scrappy mood?

I look through my pics for one I want to scrap, and then just go at it.
Also, for me, shopping always make me want to get all my stuff out and play.

I normally just scrap on Sundays - it's the time I can relax and enjoy being creative. I find organising supplies often gets me in the moood to scrap, or I find some recent photos that I'm keen to use.

How do you get in the scrappy mood? Girl, I have no advice for you. I am in the exact same boat that you are, almost down to the minute. Part of me is legitimately worried that I may never pick it up again. I wish you luck, and I hope that you enjoy your time when you do get down to business. Just go sit down and do it. You might be psyching yourself out of it at this point.

clean this week if you can so you can start scrapping this weekend! Buy a couple of small embellishments or paper that makes you excited. Start with the new and then work into your stash.
I have NO idea how people get 20 pages done in a weekend, Im lucky if I do 2.

I've been there. Looking through my stash and finding things I really love or buying something new will help me get started. Plus finding something that inspires me even if I totally copy it also helps. And pictures I love or a specific story to tell. It might also help to figure out what setting will help you be creative. Do you like to listen to music while you scrap? Have an old favorite movie playing in the background? Listen to a podcast? Scrap where your family is? Scrap away from the family for some alone time? Feel free to join us on the goals and progress thread. It helps to put your goals out there for others to see. You might be more inclined to follow through on them. There will be a new one up for February next Wednesday.

If you have photos you really want to scrap @anmore , start there. Set those out where you can see them. As you clean off your scrap area, look for paper and other elements that might "go" with those photos. Put those items near your photos. You may not use all--or any--of those supplies in the end, but you will have them as a place to start. As you put other stuff away, select anything from your stash that might work with those photos as well, and add to your pile of possibilities. As you are doing all this--selecting photos, finding product, clearing a space--have a paper and pen or pencil handy to write down any ideas that occur to you for a or journaling. I sometimes journal snippets when I am not in the scraproom, but an idea occurs to me, so I write it down. Looking on Pinterest or watching scrap videos can be a help or a hinderance. If you see something you think you may be able to lift, print it off or take a screen shot, but don't feel intimidated trying to copy that exact page. I have started from the page up with a sketch, or the photo(s) down with various matts and banners, etc. Find a spot for your title and either select stickers or cut it with a diecut machine. Do your journaling on a card. Play around a little, just moving your stuff around. When you are happy with it, maybe leave it out on the scrap table overnight. If you still like it, glue and go; if you think it needs something more--or less--make those changes before you glue. (I never glue right up at the edge of photos or matts in case I may want to tuck something in at the last moment, and that way I am not afraid to start gluing). Try not to be too critical when you look at the finished page. Celebrate that it is DONE!!! Move on to the next... Good luck! I hope you find yourself right back into this hobby and loving it!

This past Saturday I joined a Virtual Scrapbooking crop hosted by Creative Memories. I was suppose to have the day off of work but had to cover for a co worker. So I printed out the 5 challenges and only got one done that day. However it was fun to see others post their finished work and I will be finishing up the other challenges. I have not scrapbooked for years! I have been making cards and doing crafts for others. I am going to look for other virtual crops. Though now I feel like scrapbooking again. I even bought a new paper trimmer with my 50% off Michael's coupon today. Been needing one for awhile.

I clean and organize my space. Partly because I love organizing, but partly because inevitably I find supplies I forgot about and get excited to use again!

All advice already given in this thread is great! The progress thread on here is always a very encouraging place when I read through the latest messages (although I don't actually participate in it myself, oops ). The good ol' trick of allowing yourself to buy a couple of fresh scrappy things to play with also rings true when you're trying to get yourself moving again after a period of scrappy inactivity. Usually, a pack of ephemera and/or a paper or two does the trick for me. It's enough to get me wanting to go through my stash and find some matching supplies to try out together. Have you by chance roamed YouTube for recent process videos? I'd suggest going for a YouTuber whose style you really like, something recent because the current style of scrapbooking is often FOMO-inducing, possibly a layout using products/a collection you were looking to buy a couple of pieces from to get your inspiration delivered right to your screen. Don't hesitate to ask us for help finding a blogger/YouTuber that suits your tastes if you can't remember/don't know any. The scrappy folks on this board are up to date with what's going on, always willing to help out and get someone scrapping (again)! Have fun with it!

I have the best luck with a photo or photos I love.

Use sketches, or scrap lift to get the juices flowing. You cab join us Here or Here for more! This and work with a collection or kit. I do this when I am really stuck but doing these things takes the work out of planning the page and I just get to pull it together. I'll do this until I feel like I can fly on my own.

I'm not sure what you like to scrap, but I might start by doing a small project - maybe a framed layout or a mini album. Maybe I would pick an album in progress from when I used to scrap and start back on that.
I get my mojo by being in a scrap environment. For me that is crops. It might be getting together with a friend, just having an organized space, or in a rare event, an LSS where you can take some pics and go and choose some things to make a layout right there - just to get a scrap vibe going.

I used to go to crops at Archivers or another LSS every Friday night. I decided that I need to get back to that even though I will have to do this at home. I'm currently cleaning up my craft room so I can be more productive. I feel so much better after I have had time to be crafty!

My new grandson was born on Jan 10th, so I am excited to get some pages done. I did 3 pages on Sunday, (of course, it took me all afternoon and evening). But I did get my Cameo out and actually use it. Now I just gotta clean up my scrap room.

Setting an appointment is a good idea. Or set aside a whole day or whatever. I have a fair amount of time here and there but no block of time and that drives me crazy, but I think embracing the hour here and there is good, especially if you break the process up ("pick out supplies for layout" "print photos for layout", etc). I have been spending most of my time cleaning and purging but I'm back to getting a little done since I'm feeling more organized.
For me, I have 3 things that keep me going: 1. Accepting I'm a slow scrapper and just never going to get a ton done, but I live for the creative me time 2. Make a regular time to attend a crop or crop with friends...I love that time for the socializing and idea sharing and it keeps me inspired (plus one friend sells CM and another CTMH so I get exposure to new stuff) 3. I joined SU (again) which I don't have time for to sell, but my uplines are great and I love doing card swaps. I get way more done with a deadline or assignment.

for me, I need to have my house generally picked up, a lifetime movie on and then my scrap area needs to be picked up and photos organized. I think this is why I don't scrap much lately lol... I have been working on photo organization/printing photos so I am just about ready to get my mojo back!

I find a collection I love and buy as many pieces of it I want. For me, when I have no mojo, shopping by collection is way easier because everything already coordinates so it leaves me brain power to use elsewhere. Then, I go to Pinterest and search for scrapbooking layouts. When I find one I like I find and print pictures to match the spaces on that page and then re-create it with the collection I chose. Inevitably once I start sticking things down I get some mojo going and start making changes, etc. Then I'm good to go for ages.

Shopping for me, too. I have not done a page all week. I have a friend who may come stay with me for a few weeks. The guest room is ok, if you just glance in there, but if you open the closet...well, you would not want to do that. So I decided I would just spend an afternoon and clean it out a little to give her some room for a few hangers and a shelf or 2. It has turned into a whole week's project. Last night dh wanted company on his trip to HL and I got a "boy friendly" pad of papers and made page 2 of a layout that I had started with very old papers I didn't like and bad pictures. The pictures are still bad, but I made a page.

I stopped scrapbooking when my husband left. I ended up needing to get 2 jobs, both 30-35 hours a week. I just didn't have any time left after working. My dd and her friend decided to make bff smash books so I was helping them...and I think my mojo may be coming back
