I saw it but for me personally it looks like everything else out there. That's just me though.

I'm a little conflicted after watching that video. My thoughts right now: 1. I liked her at the start of the presentation, then she lost me. I felt like she didn't portray the clarity to demystify mixed media art to scrapbookers (which is what she announced she wanted to do with this line). The more the video progressed, the more she lost my attention. It wasn't convincing enough in terms of organising the items and presenting how this new launch not only would help a scrapbooker do mixed media more often but also really make them want to do it and invest money in it. 2. The scrapbooking part kind of got lost in it. She showed us the one layout up close and that was it. I feel like there are some big missed opportunities to market the product there. Should've shown more techniques, home-made pocket page cards, perhaps attemps some big statement brush script too (us scrappy folks sure love it), especially since her brand name design is in handwritten brush script! 3. Like nicolep , I thought the scrap product itself (the paper pad) was really nothing special and looked dated (with the exception of perhaps a couple of the specialty papers but they were nothing new or interesting either). The design elements she incorporated in the product line left me cold too. Butterflies/moths? Yah, I'm confident almost all scrapbookers have plenty of those already. 4. Ultimately, I think she's having trouble keeping the target audience clear in her head. She made references that implied the viewers she was addressing were those who already know and follow her. My guess is that most of those are not intimidated by mixed media that much and might already own basics like gesso and paint. So, either she's selling to those (and only trying to bring them the Vicki palette so they can buy something that's more her) and not necessarily trying to bridge the gap between mixed media fans and scrapbookers like she said at the very beginning of the walk-through or... I don't know. See, I'm confused. Especially since she made several references to the fact that this was intended for those already following her. "From my book from years ago, Creative Foundations, you already know [etc.]" No, I don't know your book, sorry. "Signature Vicki, rainbows and butterflies, you know I like to break colours." Actually, I don't. And now it really feels like this collection is not aimed at me so I lose interest completely at this point of the video and am ready to close the tab. 5. If she really wants to reach out to scrapbookers who are afraid of mixed media as she claimed initially, she needs to rework her presentation to fit the bill. One of those who excells at this is Tim Holtz. He always manages to make sure his presentations are very inclusive and wide audience. He understands a big part of the audience will not know about his previous releases and manage to find just the right balance in how he presents the new releases and builds the narrative structure of his talk to reach as far as possible (interested/possibly intimidated newbies and old fans who own the full TH collection). This didn't invite me in as someone who doesn't follow her and the product isn't original enough to push me to continue researching it so I might be tempted to make a purchase. Sorry. 6. The flow was missing. It went from product to product without making me go "Ooooh, I'm starting to get it now!" Again, if you're trying to reach out to a different public who will be complete newbies, you've got to knit the story of what could be (if only the poured their cash into the items) really tight and well. 7. But I like the idea of "unicorn in a bottle."

The tissue looks interesting to me. That might be fun to play with. I also liked her mica glitter set. The rest of kinda "meh" to me too, but I'd rather buy artist grade supplies than craft when it comes to mixed media (my mom is an artist so I was lucky to grow up using the good stuff) so I'm not really her audience. Hopefully my LSS will snag some and I can see it in person. I'm so over feathers. That's a trend that needs to go away!

It's a lot of rainbows and glitter, and I don't need more of that.
I guess I want more browns and grays and earth tones and dirt. I reached for old basic grey today.

TFS wonderwoman. I actually enjoyed her presentation better than Tim Holtz's. I want to see her promised tutorials. Have been to a couple of her in person classes and found them fun and full of techniques. Coming out with a whole coordinating mixed media line must be very exciting for Vicki and I thought she did a great job itemizing the products for each step of her process. And this may get new people playing with mixed media: it may feel more safe to use these products all from one line or designer. And I think watching her promised tutorials may get me pulling out the glazes and glitters and glass chunks from my stash to play. And the free form stamping with acetate is something I would try. As for products, the tissue paper sounds fun.

Not a new idea but it's cool to see someone with a line coming out now.

In fact, here is what I created this week. Just makes me happy!

I have tons of the old BG stuff... With 2 granddaughters I am not using the distressed dark stuff anymore~ I have 3 daughters, so I have a lot of rainbow and glitter layouts in my older books. I still use the stuff, just much more sparingly than Vicki does. A little goes a long way! I have a hard time using it for travel layouts and more "grown-up" themed pages. Two of my girls are adults now, and rainbows and glitter just aren't a big part of my life anymore.
