*** political***
I've never understood the purpose of people like Trump who just seem to want to make the world a miserable place. I mean, does his ego not realize that he's on the brink of destroying the free world as we know it?
What is his desired result, besides being king of the world? That if the world's gonna end by gosh it's gonna be HIM that did it?

I think the word "ego" is the key. He seems entirely ego-driven. Not a good thing.

I honestly think he doesn't understand the concept of consequences.
Not a good husband? No big deal, get another wife
Make bad business decisions? No big deal, put that business in bankruptcy and start another
Not a good dad? No big deal, ignore that kid you don't like and have another with someone else
He has never in his life had to follow through with a decision or deal with any consequences of his actions. His whole life is a series of walking away from things when they don't go his way.
I truly believe that it doesn't occur to him that his actions as president will have repercussions from other countries. That's what makes him so incomprehensibly dangerous and scary.

I don't think he wants to make the world a more miserable place. His ego believes he knows what is best, and can make it better than anyone. Unfortunately he fails to recognize his definition of better creates misery for others.
I think it's born out of deep seated insecurity, but that's another thread. He takes any difference of opinion as a personal slight.

He's an egomaniac and a narcissist and until he himself recognizes this fact and admits it there's nothing anyone can do for him. It's a bit like an alcoholic, until that person themselves admits they have a problem they will carry on drinking and to hell with the consequences because "they" don't think they're doing anything wrong. Same with Trump, he will ALWAYS be right and everyone else is wrong in his mind.

Part of me thinks he's pushing all these EOs knowing they won't be enacted because others will find a way to stop them. This way he gets to say he kept his campaign promises, and their failure wasn't his fault.
He's egotistical to overlook the the turmoil caused in order to not admit he is wrong.

Sociopaths are usually defined as people displaying anti social behavior which is mainly characterized by lack of empathy towards others that is coupled with display of abnormal moral conduct and inability to conform with the norms of the society. People suffering from antisocial personality disorder are often referred to as sociopaths. Some of the other characteristics that sociopaths may display are stealing, lying, lack of remorse for others and towards living beings, irresponsible behavior, impulsive behavior, drug or alcohol abuse, problems with the law, violating rights of others, aggressive behavior and much more.
Sociopaths are often unable to control their behavior and their expressions of annoyance, irritability and threats when faced with situations not appealing to them and they often tend to resort to threats, aggression and verbal abuse. Though no person is born with this disorder, the sociopathic personality disorder does involve a history of persistent anti social behavior during childhood before the age of 15 and if left untreated, this disorder continues into adulthood too. Sociopaths could also have been influenced by various environmental factors around the age of 15 that is also one of the main reasons for this disorder in individuals. Some of the environmental factors can include deprivation, sexual abuse, abandonment, emotional abuse, association with people who are antisocial, physical abuse and others. Though there are no distinct biological causes that have been identified as the main cause for this disorder, research suggest that for people suffering from sociopathic personality disorder, the part of the brain that is mainly responsible for an individual’s learning from his or her own mistakes and responding to fearful and sad facial expressions tends to be smaller than in a normal individual. Researchers believe that this may be the reason for lack of empathy towards others. There are theories that also indicate that hormonal fluctuations also have a role to play in this disorder, however the links have not been directly established. People suffering from Sociopathic disorders tend to be superficially charming. They also tend to display behavior which include manipulation of people around them, desire to be in control of everything and everyone around them that usually leads to grave consequences and shallow emotions.
For a person to be diagnosed as a sociopath he or she must have at least three or more of the below mentioned symptoms
Displays heightened levels of deceitfulness in dealings with others, which involves lying, conning others without remorse, or even using aliases Inability to abide by the social norms and thus violating law Displays aggressiveness and often tends to get into assaults and physical fights Displays complete lack of empathy for others and their situation for which they are responsible Displays no feelings or shallow feelings Displays impulsive behavior which is indicated by the inability to plan for the future Displays no concern for safety of others around them or self Inability to sustain a consistent behavior that stems mainly from irresponsibility especially at work place or in other dealings Displays promiscuous behavior
Research has revealed that since a sociopath never conforms to the rules of the society, he or she is not bothered about the consequences of his or her actions. Such people at times are also able to inspire like minded people.

I consider your OP to be more of the Henny Penny syndrome.
To many of us, your OP applies just as much to Obama as you claim it does to Trump.
Right now, the hysterics are very vocal. Those who supported Trump don't feel a need to say much about what he's doing as he already stated his intent in his campaign speeches. That's why they voted for him.

I wish I could believe he's that smart, I think in business, he makes grand statements. Big gestures and he leaves other people to figure out how to get them done. Or they come back with some form, probably often something that doesn't really look at all like he said he wanted, but his ego says, "yes that is just what I meant". For a very long time he has not been involved in the details. He is completely ignorant of how to govern. He is very thin skinned, has no understanding of how government works, is completely ignorant of the Constitution and the laws of this land, and has no idea of how the executive branch operates. Couple that with never operating within a system of checks and balances. And the fact that whenever he doesn't like the facts he just makes shit up. He is so far out of his depth it will take our countries a decade or more to undo the havoc he will wreak!

OP, i don't know it's about, ego or narcissism or if he is a complete sociopath.... what i find confusing is the impression from his supporters that "we had to suck up obama, even though we disagreed and now you are just being whiny poor losers". millions of people around the world (on all 7 continents!) marched against the ideologies that this man has owned. do you really think the world is full of whiny losers who really have nothing better to do than give a crap about an american election or your party lines?? the outcry we have seen from so many different segments of the community, the outpouring of concerns raised by scientists, doctors, researchers, human right activists, artists, historians...is "UNPRESIDENTED". if there are concerns about terrorists from muslim countries, this travel ban is a sure-fire way to feed the terrorist groups some effective sounds bites for their propaganda to whip up anger against the u.s. his behaviour is dangerous to ALL americans but i certainly would NOT want to be an american abroad right now.
