I am sorry that happened. It's sad to lose things that remind us of loved ones. Our Christmas tree fell one year and we lost some precious heirloom ornaments.

I am so sorry. I can imagine how heartbroken you are. I like gale w idea to use the peices to make a mosaic tray or something. It won't be the same, but it will be the same materials. Again, I am so sorry this happened.

I'm sorry.
When I was only 21, I found out that a dear old lady who had been friends with my mom left me some Demi-tasse cups and saucers that she had brought with her when she immigrated from England as a young bride right after WWI.
They meant the world to me since I was so surprised she had thought of me in her will and I knew the cups and saucers were precious to her.
A few years ago a painter carelessly took down the display shelf the cups and saucers were displayed on and one of the cups broke. I'm still sad about it so I understand how you feel.

I know. Nowadays we have so many things, but our parents/grandparents had so few and what we have from them is so meaningful. Please save the pieces - maybe someone clever can come up with something special you can do with them? Maybe if they are really completely destroyed, you can make something out of the broken pieces? IDK, but I hope there is something you can do. I'm sorry

I am so very sad for you. I can totally see this happening to me. I have posted about the family Christmas ornament I was entrusted with that shattered when I knocked over the Christmas tree trying to take a picture of my son outside. I sobbed for hours.
I do know how you feel. I also know that there are people who will put those back together for you. I actually could not part with that ornament and I glued those shards together and put it in a box until this year when I finally tossed it - 24 years later. My brother can repair china like it was never broken, and I know there must be someone who can do that for you.

I feel for you! And I've had a similar experience so I can tell you this is something you will lament over for a long time. I collected Margaret Furlong ornaments for years and years and years, including several limited edition ornaments. One year our cat climbed the Christmas tree when we were out and knocked the whole 12' tall tree over, and every single ornament was shattered. UGH.

I'm so sorry. I still remember the clench of my stomach when I heard the sound of the plate painted with my boy's footprints shattering as it hit the ground. My younger son was 11 weeks old when we had the plate made. Irreplaceable.

Oh that sucks. Hugs to you. A few years ago our Christmas tree fell over and broke and ornament my grandfather had given to my grandfather in 1925. My heart still hurts when I think about it.
I like the idea of making a scrapbook page.

Oh some of your stories are so sad.. I mean these were not like old old things, thank goodness, but nevertheless something I could have passed down at some point. I didn't know there were places that could restore them, but honestly I don't know if it is really worth it or not. I would be okay to get replacements, although the Royal Doulton is a signed piece. That would be the one to restore. I did find it also on ebay for not that much money.
My poor little headless Diana.. it's just sitting here.. I need to put it away.... it's kinda creeping me out.. lol

I feel your pain, I am so sorry. Everything I cherish eventually gets broken. My hubby accidentally dropped my Waterford crystal nativity. And my daughter just broke my sweet nativity that my parents brought back from Jerselem for me. It leaves a whole in your heart. Jen

Kintsugi...the Japanese Art of repairing broken pieces of pottery and ceramics with gold...so that you appreciate that the thing is still beautiful after having been broken...perhaps more so because of the effort that went into repairing it

(((hugs)))
I'm so sorry.
Years ago, my mom gave me this pretty little glass hummingbird Christmas ornament when I moved away to my own place.
First year I use it, wouldn't you know my (now) ex accidentally knocks the tree down, and the ONLY thing to break on it was my hummingbird.
