I have always gone to MSN only because it was the default news site of my browser. It doesn't have many pop ups which annoy the bejeezus out of me. But I think I need to broaden my media horizon and am open to new suggestions so post away. Where do you go for your news and why do you like these particular sites? What are some you don't go to and why? For the record I like to read my news and do not like videos or anything with soundbites. So if those pop up unrequested I am out of there with one click. (Is unrequested a word? I keep getting spellchecked? I hate when that happens..) TIA for all of your input. I'm looking forward to jumping down a "news" rabbit hole!

I usually just go to Yahoo News first. Other places I go to are CNN and BBC.

The BBC is always my first port of call. I also check The Guardian and The Independent (both well-respected intelligent British newspapers).

The BBC and The Guardian are my go-tos in English. I also read a German newspaper online, but that's probably not much use to you.

www.allsides.com/It's a news aggregate that offers links to all sides of the media. It's motto is "Don't be fooled by bias. Think for yourself".

The BBC usually. I do click on the Guardian too although the Guardian is generally thought of as a left wing paper over here. If I want to read straight forward facts with not much opinion added I click on the Telegraph but I don't think you can access it over there without a subscription and it's limited on line here too. If I'm looking for good pictures I click the Daily Mail, they usually have fab photos of events. They do tend to " embelish" their reporting at times so I usually double check with other UK media if it sound too sensational.

I use NYT (I subscribe.) I love the way the site is set up, it looks sort of like a traditional newspaper and there are no ads or videos or pop-ups, all of which drive me nuts. Plus, the stories are well-written. I used to try to use CNN online, but it is a horrible site (they re-designed it a couple of years ago) and it looks like a mess.

I switched from CNN to Reuters from my quick daily overview - CNN's autoplay videos finally sent me over the edge. I also subscribe to the Wall Street Journal. Those and my local paper are the ones I read daily. If I'm looking for more information on a particular issue, I branch out to Politico first and then NY Times and Washington Post if it's political. If it's a European issue - I'll read BBC. If it's about the Mideast, I'll read what Al Jazeera is saying about it. Lately Snopes and Politifact are getting a workout as there's just so much crap hitting my feeds.

The BBC and The Guardian are my go-tos in English. I also read a German newspaper online, but that's probably not much use to you. Do you know if there is an English version online German news site? TIA!

I use Reuters, NYTimes, The Guardian and The Christian Science Monitor ( the most unbiased news source IMO especially for world news)

sadly I'm leaning more and more toward The Onion.
That being said, I tend to read BBC first.

bbc.co.uk and dw.com are my go-to sites
US? I like New York Times, Boston Globe, Washington Post, The Atlantic but all of those I tend to click thru to from FB posts rather than go directly to (I'm selective about what I click thru to - but those tend to be well-written and worthwhile for the most part)

Since my boycott of the TV news (which began on the night of the election) I've gotten most of my news from BBC online. I do read individual articles on the Washington Post site also but since we get that newspaper I don't need to read everything online. I don't always read the Post either but my dh keeps me informed on that. lol
I've always like the BBC and I always thought it was interesting to see a foreign view of American news. After Trump came into the scene I appreciated the ability to click on the "international" tab and hear nothing about him. Now that's not the case since the international opinion of him isn't great either. ugh
