I had BR surgery in my mid-20s; I am now 58, so I have virtually no scarring left, and it never really was that bad. I found the recovery to be laughably easy. In fact, I snuck out of the hospital on the second day after surgery and walked across the street to buy junk food at a convenience store. I wasn't supposed to drive for two weeks, but I lived alone, so was kind of forced to. I remember going clothes shopping at Benetton my second day home.
Because I was always athletic, it made things like tennis and running so much easier, and I just feel better about myself in general. It was one of the best decisions I ever made.

Outspoken What did you have to do to get your insurance to cover it?? I had a reduction consulation with a surgeon and he submitted photos and paperwork to my insurance company.

I'm not going to lie to you. I felt this was far more painful than childbirth. And just when I thought I had gotten beyond the pain and into healing well, the nerves started to reattach themselves and I felt like my nipples were on fire. I couldn't even wash my hair in the shower. I needed DH to shower with me and help. Also in the interest of honesty my breasts lost a lot of sensation. So if that is something that is important to your sex life you may want to think about that. I went from an F to a D. Three pounds of tissue taken. Would I do it again? Yes but it wasn't a miraculous surgery for me.

My sister had a reduction 5 years ago and it went well. No complications, the recovery wasn't bad. Hers was paid for but we are in Canada. OP, I hear you on IVs freaking you out. Needles are kind of freaky but I can tolerate them but an IV is a needle that stays in you ~shudder~ Good luck to you. elaine my mom can lose 10 lbs and tell the difference in her bra size. I just lost 25 lbs and can feel it a bit in the band size but not the cup size. I'm also a DD.

Really soured me to the whole procedure but eventually I will start over with different doctors. Loved my plastic surgeon. He told me immediately that I would qualify..didn't have to lose weight etc. Insurance approved it within a week

The morning of the surgery he reaffirmed my wish to be as small as possible. Went from larger than a DDD to a B cup. Neck pain gone immediately. Outspoken there's a list by state of surgeons on the breasthealthonline site. You can see if yours is there. They are "vetted" for lack of a better word before their names are placed on the list.

I understand that each person's experience is different. I will be honest and tell you that I do not care for my breasts to be touched. So, sexual stimulation FOR ME is not a concern. My husband likes them more than I do! The plan right now is to make me a full C.

That just means no member of that group has recommended/or used someone in that city so don't worry that there's no name listed!! The PS I used was not there either and he was great.

I have dreamed about having this surgery for years. I'm at my goal weight now and have been for the last 2 years or so. I lost 61 pounds and nothing from my cup size-how is that possible? I'm still a DD cup although I'm 125 pounds at 5 foot, 3 inches tall. My BMI is 22. I'm out of proportion and I'm sick of everything that goes with having a huge bust-and we all know what that's like. Still surgery scares me a bit, and I didn't think I'd qualify for insurance coverage.
Reading through all of your posts though give me hope. I would love to be a B cup-it would be so much easier. My sisters are both A's-so lucky. Maybe I should check this out. I'm going right now over to that website and start reading. Thanks so much for posting the link.

I would love to have one done! I just lost 30 pounds and not one single one came off of my breasts. I'm still a DD. If I'm able to keep all the weight off for 2 years and they are still the same size, we will pay to,have it done. Don't give up. I was an E/F and losing weight everywhere except my boobs. It took me three years to lose 25kg and one day I noticed that my bras weren't fitting at all. It wasn't until those last few kilos that I started reducing around the boobs. I'm now a B/C depending on the time of the month!

Like birukitty, I dream of being a B-cup.

Outspoken, may I ask what all you had to have in order to get ins. to pay? I'm afraid I won't be able to get a reduction covered because I have no documentation. All I have is big dips in my shoulders, and low back pain. Prayers for a smooth recovery, and a happy patient after!

All I have is big dips in my shoulders, and low back pain. Prayers for a smooth recovery, and a happy patient after! I have dips, pain and no documentation. My breasts were VERY heavy. Very. I urge you to go to a reputable surgeon for a consultation. I had 2 different doctors consultations and both of them never batted an eye. They do it every day. They will know. The surgeon I chose was shocked when I disrobed because of the weight. I should have done it years ago.
