Coming back with my opinion.
I have no problem with her suing them for defamation of character (or whatever the legal term is), that's unethical and they shouldn't have done it.
But the loss of a once-in-a-lifetime chance to cash in? Her husband's taking care of that all by himself. |

Well, if they ask for tax returns as part of discovery, she will have to produce them. Discovery rules are extremely broad and anything that "might" be relevant is fair game. The subject matter doesn't even have to be expected to relate directly to the case as long as it "might" lead to discovery of material that is relevant.
Did she and Donald file joint returns? Is she involved with his businesses in any way? This would be interesting to follow.

i've said it before and i'll say it again---they are capitalizing on this Presidency. they will milk it for generations to come. they don't give a crap about the country. the next four years is just an opportunity for him and his rich friends to gain inside government info that will enrich themselves in the long run.

I'm not sure why anyone would be surprise that the trumps main goal was/is to personally make money off the presidency.
There re is nothing in their past history go suggest otherwise.
That is why I don't see why his supporters felt trump Was one of them. That he is out to take care of the little guy. I never did understand that.

I think as rich folks they sue anyone all the time, it's no sweat off their back and they do no leg work, probably barely even talk to the lawyers. But it sounds like this suit is personal to Melania which is why she went to the preliminary hearing in MD. For some reason it hits really close to home, makes you wonder....like her college degree if she figures no one can prove otherwise. This rumor would have gone no where had she not given it steam with the publicity of this lawsuit. I went to the National Museum of American History to see the First Ladies exhibition and it was so jarring to see Melania's filler induced squinty eyed photo up there next to all the other classy first ladies in history. ETA I think the reasoning in the lawsuit is all just bullshit the attorneys came up with. Doesn't mean she really feels that way but they ran through all the possible excuses that could be used in the court of law. |

I read an article today that they settled for a high amount, not sure how he has the money for that, it's some site no one has ever heard of. The MD courts said she can't file there so it was dismissed. So she refiled in NY, guess the lawyers want to continue to pad their pockets. |

I find myself amazed at the commentary here. The blogger said Melania served as an escort. She did not. She sued to clear her name. It was cleared.
I promise you that if anyone had done this to Michelle Obama and she had sued, you would have been on fire in defense of her. GOOD for Melania for not standing for this.
I feel sorry for her. Even on this list of liberals who insist they are tolerant she is tarred all the time with her husband's brush. I don't blame her for fighting back. Look at what happens on this very list. Even with the frequent insistence that her past should not be brought up and as a woman she should be empowered to do whatever she likes, almost every thread with her name in it results in the reminder that she posed for "soft porn" photos. Even though it was YEARS ago and even though in Europe this isn't even a blip on the radar. I do not blame her one bit for fighting back since her whole character is blackened all the time for those photos--imagine what would happen to her if people really believed she was a former escort.
We are supposed to be SUPPORTING each other as women! Isn't that what the women's march was all about.
