Recently I won a prize on a blog I follow. I thought it was going to be one die but I ended up receiving a huge package of brand new stamps along with the die. I never win anything and I can't even begin to tell you how it made my day! It made me think that I would really like to do that for someone else. I have so much stuff that I never use, and unless I look closely at my stash, I don't even know what I've got... so today I went through my stash of cling and acrylic stamps and I came up with a bunch I no longer use - or which I have never used - and decided I wanted to send them to someone to brighten their day. The catch is that (a) the person has to be in Canada and (b) I'd really like it to be someone that "needs" them - a young scrapper just starting out or someone who doesn't have a whole lot of supplies and would truly appreciate a little package of goodies. I've got three packages to send - and if someone is local to me (Toronto - GTA), I've also got three Sizzix dies (squares, flourishes, digbats) that are too heavy to mail. In addition, there are three small Sizzix dies - flower, gift and swirls - that could use a new home too!

Awww, thank you. These are just things I don't use and probably never will. I thought it would be nice if they went to someone just starting out or someone who doesn't have the spare $$ to buy a few extras. I wish I could ship outside of Canada, but with postage rates and customs clearance, it might not make a whole lot of sense. So if you're not eligible, but know of someone who is, please let me know so I can send them a small package!

That's nice of you! You may want to edit your title to RAK to Canadian peas.

That is so nice and thoughtful of you. I am Canadian but I have too much scrapbooking stuff as it is so it should go to someone else. Your post made my day! Thanks!

This is very sweet of you.
I have no need for this gift, but I am sure there are people out there who could definitely use it. Hope you can find them. Do you have an on line garage sale site where you live? My dd and ddil's have been using those a lot lately for all kinds of things like kids' clothes and toys and furniture. Wondering if there is a craft section?
I have not given away a lot of my stash, but I have been sharing it with our nephew's dw who started card making a couple of years ago and has been learning all kinds of new techniques. I am running my scraproom like a lending library. She comes over to return her last bag of stamps and dies and embossing folders, and then gets another set to take home. While she is here, if she needs help using something new, I can show her. Pretty soon she will be showing ME how to use my stuff!

Grammadee, not sure about online garage sale site. In all honesty I thought I would have no problem giving away a few packages through this site. I know a lot of us have a plentiful stash, but I thought someone would know of a person just starting out or have a young new scrapper somewhere near to them that would like some very gently used (and never used) items to help out. I have given things away to coworkers' kids as well as to the elementary school my DD attended many years ago, but lately it seems that I know fewer people who scrapbook or make cards... I do donate used clothing and small household items to a local charity. I have actually included odd scrappy items in those donations in the past. I also thought about posting an ad on the local buy/sell site. To tell you the truth I'm a little surprised it's this "difficult" to give things away! Lol

I have lots of stuff, so I'm not in need (and my friends have healthy stashes, too!). But if you're close to Dixie/401, you can ship out USPS using crossborderpickups.ca . Then I think you can take advantage of the fixed rate box. Or there's also ChitChatsExpress.
PS I think we might have met before when I was working at former Scrapbook Queens LSS?

Jaffa, if you worked at Scrapbook Queens, we have definitely met! I was at that store every week! I'll look into the shipping options you suggested and that may open the door to let me ship to the US! Thanks for the information!!
