nymag.com/thecut/2017/02/an-unprecedented-number-of-women-plan-to-run-for-office.htmlWant to do more than be upset and complain? Take an online class in running for office. Or support (financially anywhere or physically in your jurisdiction) anyone who does who aligns w/your policies. "Like-minded organizations have reported similar spikes in interest. VoteRunLead reported that in the past two months, more than 2,300 women have signed up to take its online course, and the organization’s January 7 seminar registered 1,200 women in less than 48 hours. Since Election Day, EMILY’s List has had more than 4,000 people reach out to say they’re interested in running — 1,660 since Inauguration Day. And according to a She Should Run spokesperson, in a normal month the organization sees “at best, and with significant effort, anywhere between a few dozen to a few hundred women” sign up. But in the three months since the election, co-founder and CEO Erin Loos Cutraro said 8,100 women have indicated their interest in running for office by registering for She Should Run’s online incubator program, which teaches them how. What’s more, Cutraro said things show no sign of slowing. “We had a staff meeting, and we were going over numbers,” Cutraro said. “Our community manager said, ‘But hold on — we got 100 more last night....’ The United States’ pathetic record on women in politics (women only hold about 20 percent of all national-level seats, and the local numbers are just as bad) is due in large part to the fact that women just don’t run for office at the same rate as men. ”... Having Trump win has made me realize how complacent I was about a lot of things,” " How to run for office.

I was talking to a colleague on Tuesday and we were talking about this very thing. We need more women to run for office. What a great program to have a free course as well as mentoring.

I just signed up. I've started looking into the requirements to run. I'm independent, but we have clean elections support here, so who knows...

I have reached out in some private groups I'm in, offering to volunteer for campaigns and fundraise for any candidate (of any sex) who runs against some of the bozos we have in office here. THis is a very red state, but I'd at least like for the Rs to have to fight a little harder for their jobs.

From reading your posts over the years, this makes me very happy, you are smart, well spoken and have always seemed like a caring person. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help.

Thank you! It will just be something local, I'm sure...maybe school board to start. But I've seen people with no experience elected to the state legislature, so that's an option too. It's actually part of our professional agreement that I could take unpaid leave to serve.

If that's you, then turn on the news or go to social media and see the incompetents who are in State and Federal government. Believe me, many of us are more than qualified compared to some of them, who seem to have no issue worrying about their qualifications. They have some idea of how the world should be and they go for it. It's time more of us starting thinking that way.

Honestly, id love to do state secretary of education. Our current one is a whack job, completely unqualified. She ran against a guy with actual experience and education and won, because she had a R after her name. So I don't know what my chances would be. But I will look into city, county and state positions for sure.

We had a minister in our provincial government who was dumber than dirt. She was a realtor from the lower mainland. I think she ran without competition and won. We had another guy who was a chain smoker as the minister of health. (He knew the addiction inside and out). He, too, was not that bright. The ministry of health is the second biggest portfolio second only to finance. If these people were in power, your average Pea can run and win, too.
Be prepared to have your grade 2 teacher called to see what kind of student you were or what your social media presence says. It will be headlines, but in the end no one is going to care either way. You will be hurt, but you will be powerful! I mean, look what's happening now!
