www.cnn.com/2017/02/12/politics/trump-shinzo-abe-mar-a-lago-north-korea/index.htmlThe gist: Trump is having dinner with The Japanese Prime Minister at his resort North Korea launches a missile The incident is discussed at the dinner table, with many other diners in the dining area, plus the staff that was buzzing around doing typical waitstaff stuff. After all of the hullabaloo about HRC not having properly handled classified emails, you would think that this is a pretty big issue. Was there no place secure and private that the issue could have been discussed? Trump was looking to hire foreign workers to staff the resort. There is no need to spend a bunch of money inserting agents when you could bribe a busboy with a $20 to share whatever info they overhear. From the various things I've seen - having the key in the classified materials bag when people who didn't have clearance in the room were present, discussing NatSec matters in a public venue, and the IC assuming that anything in the actual situation room is compromised - this is a very cavalier attitude towards national security. Is there no one that can explain how this works to him? Has it been explained, or he just doesn't care? I remember when it turned out that Bush had been warned of a pending attack right before 9/11. He didn't take it seriously and we we ended up being blindsided. There will be another attack. He will blame the judges when it happens because "they are letting all of these bad guys in." And then we will see a clampdown like after 9/11, only likely much worse. People will give up their rights for the illusion of safety. It will be the excuse Bannon and Miller need to put their plans in action. I do not have any confidence in his ability to understand and react appropriately to any intel he gets about a pending attack, nor that such intel would be treated as securely as necessary in order to thwart an attack. We will have tweets and leaks and the IC will feel entirely justified in keeping info from him because of it. It's a vicious circle, isn't it? I know, I know...but her e-mails! Salty liberal tears! MAGA!!!!11!!!!

I've often wondered if he did get any information about a possible attack, if he'd do anything to prevent it. An attack would give him all the ammunition he needs to forward his agenda.

Especially after reading the article that was posted a few months ago about how Putin came to power (when all of the apartment bombings were happening in Russia, that have been attributed to the government). Seems that a terrorist attack right now would give trump more credibility right now in some circles, particularly in regards to the Muslim ban.

And no, I don't think the way the information was handled during that dinner was appropriate. It is frightening.

Totally inappropriate, but that seems to be the mandate of this party and administration.
I may be crazy, but I think Trump WANTS someone to bomb North America so he can either get accolades of fixing it, or to totally ruin the country (before he resigns) and leave it in a huge mess for the next guy.

I was just reading that story earlier - crazy! He's conducting the business of being President in a public dining room with a visiting leader from another country and then the other diners report what happened to the news. ....I don't even have words for that.
BUT then, even in the midst of finding out Nth Korea launched a ballistic missile...what does he do?:
What the actual fuck?
The man is bat shit crazy and every single day gets worse. Can you imagine what the Japanese Prime Minister thought, being dragged to gate crash a wedding and being told how much money Trump is making out of it?

And this is why the intelligence community is now withholding information from Trump and his minions. He can't be trusted with it.

The short answer is that no, it isn't ok.
The real question should be - is this legal?

The short answer is that no, it isn't ok. The real question should be - is this legal?Short answer? Probably not. It shows a carelessness of the handling of classified information. If two lower-level IC workers were to go to Starbucks and chat about something that was supposed to be classified or controlled access to information, it would certainly be punishable in some way. Even shorter answer? No. But nobody in power cares enough to do anything about it.

This Washington Post article is pretty much the same as the CNN in the op. But there is a picture in it that is worth 10,000 words and none are flattering to trump. It shows what was described in the CNN article of the what was going on at the dinner table with all the aids scurrying around. Sorry I don't how to get it out of the article to here. Anyway back to my daily rant about tiny hands. That was totally unacceptable and embarrassing to boot. People went on and on about Hillary and her emails. But never in a million years would she have pulled the stunt tiny hand's did Saturday night. First she would never have "showed" off a leader of a foreign country the way he did parading him around at Mar a Logo. Second any event like what happened in North Korea would not have been discussed in public the way it was. No wonder our intelligence people don't want to share what they find with trump.

Holy moly! I used to work with folks dealing with top secret data and they would have their door closed and locked and you had to knock or call them to talk to them and they were just reading stuff to themselves and I had a secret clearance at the time. Talking about it in a public place is such a face palm moment, I can't even.

That bozo is going to get us all killed with his ignorance. He does not have a clue how to run a business, let alone a country. He thinks that it is all him ruling, everyone bowing down to him and lawsuits agains the ones that don't bow and kiss butt. The man can not even excel at being a decent human being.

No it's not ok if he's discussing classified information in public. Anyone with 10 seconds of training on the security of top secret + Intel knows it's not ok to talk about it in public. This guys a fucking moron if thats in fact what he was doing.
Now if they were just generally discussing it, as in "oh, North Korea is posturing again, wonder what they want now" that would be ok. Not ideal, but not punishable.

Is it standard to invite guests (owners of football leagues) to business dinners with world leaders?

So, they'll allow him to keep saying what he wants, in the hope that it will distract the people from what they are really doing? I guess that's one way to run a country.

I guess that I have not paid a lot of attention to the "Winter" White House so I'm pretty surprised that it's a working resort with guests, diners and weddings happening while Heads of State are there. It must be a complete security headache.

I'm not an expert, but a restaurant is a terrible place even if it's closed because people could theoretically see in windows or restaurant staff could be listening through a wall etc. If it was important top secret talk they should have tried to a secure place to discuss, but that's in my limited knowledge as I wasn't top secret, I just know people with ts clearance would close the doors, blinds and put up a sign they were not to be disturbed, and to call if they were needed.

This seems so hypocritical. However, I read a good article that said it's only hypocrisy if a person TRULY believed there was a REAL issue with Hillary's email server. Unfortunately, many saw this issue only as an opportunity to smear her.
And I agree with everything in the OP.
