I don't have a fever (as far as I know) or the runny nose. But the last two days I've been tired with a headache and feeling sort of dopey and my cheeks are flushed. Something isn't right, but I'm also not outright sick. I don't know what to call it. Right now I need a nap and its not even lunch time.
ETA: I did have a flu shot so its less likely I have the flu but still possible. Hence the "mild flu" question.

Yes, you can get a mild reaction to exposure to the flu virus. You could also have a different respritory virus (like a cold but there are other viruses out there) Without a test you don't really know what you have even when if feels like the full blown flu. Hope you get to feeling well quick!

I don't know but I have it too. Runny nose, congestion, coughing, low fever, headache, chills. But not the muscle aches or the "hit with a bat" feeling of flu. I think it's just a virus, but I feel like crap.

I think so but of course I have no proof since I didn't go to the doctor. Not sure how they'd know either, actually. But both dd and I had something when she was home over Christmas. It was definitely more than an ordinary cold -- we had a low fever, chills, body aches, congestion... But, I didn't feel like "death warmed over" which is what my friend said she had. And the worst of ours only lasted a few days not a week. Of course the cough lingered forever but that's always the way it is. So it was definitely not an regular cold, so we were calling it a mild flu. lol

My youngest DD had type A flu a little over a week ago. She was miserable with fever, chills, aches, sore throat, etc. Yesterday, my DGS, who is 8, woke up with a high fever and hurting in his legs and a headache. DD took him to the dr and he tested positive for the flu. He is out of school for the rest of the week and so happy. He hardly acts like a child with the flu. So we are guessing he has a mild version of what his aunt had. When his temps spikes, it does make him very tired. Tylenol and Tami-flu seems to be helping a lot.

I was listening to the radio yesterday and they had someone talking about the flu; if the vaccine doesn't "match" the flu entirely, it will lessen the symptoms.
Feel better!

Woke up and told her Mom she wasn't feeling well. Mom checked and no fever, no stomach upset, so she sent her on to school. The school called me to come pick her up about 1 p.m. She was very flushed, had a mild headache and felt very tired. I could tell by looking that she wasn't well. Anyway, she napped and woke up feeling a bit better but still not 100%. It never did progress into anything more than this. Don't know what it is but it's going around.

I don't know but I have it too. Runny nose, congestion, coughing, low fever, headache, chills. But not the muscle aches or the "hit with a bat" feeling of flu. I think it's just a virus, but I feel like crap. Everyone in my house either has this now or had it over the weekend. None of us feel bad enough to say "Oh my gosh, this must be the flu", but we're still pretty miserable. The kids saw the doctor and she tested them both for strep (negative for both), so she is saying that it is something viral with flu-like symptoms. A few years back, DS #1 had this same type of thing, only a little worse, and we did test him (because it was one of the years when people were really nervous about the flu strain going around), and he got better before the results came back, but when they did, they were negative. So my gut feeling is that we all have something very similar to whatever random virus he had back then. At our house, it started on Saturday for me, and today is the day when I have noticed the biggest improvement. DH was down for about 2-2.5 days, and my younger DS was only really sick 24 hrs. DS #1 is on day 3. I hope you feel better soon!! Save

I had the flu last week and had had the flu shot. Mine was a high fever for about 4 days. One day of feeling like I wasn't going to be able to get out of bed at all. Sleeping a lot for the first few days. VERY bad cough. So bad I pulled muscles and I still have the cough and pulled muscles. The fatigue was bad, too. I still can'r run up stairs without feeling like I need oxygen.
So yes, sadly. Usually a cold is not associated with the flu, so you may well have it.

And the official test says ..... drum roll...... not flu. But flu-like symptoms and an Rx for Tamiflu. And I should stay home from work until Monday. Hahaha like that's going to happen.

Sounds like how the crud I have began. It was mild enough to begin, then I felt like I had the plague. Start to feel better and boom. It's yo-yo'd since. The muscle aches will hit, as will the sinus fun and coughing. At this point, I've gone through numerous boxes of Kleenex and my entire torso hurts from the rib wracking cough.
I was tested for flu. She said the B strain just makes you feel miserable. The A strain knocks you off your feet. No flu. However, she felt I had a virus and it had progressed into bronchitis.
This is week 3. Day 6 of antibiotics and I still feel horrible. I sleep all the time. Seriously, I go to class. Sleep in my car. Go to class number 2. Come home and take a nap. Then go to the evening class or take a nap, depending on how poorly I am feeling.
My son started with the headache a few days ago. He's been asleep all day. Got up and took a shower and went back to bed while I was at my evening class.
It's almost 7 and I wish I could go to bed. However, I have a Statistics test on Friday. Since I've been sleeping so much, I haven't done a bit of homework from that class for 2 1/2 weeks. *sigh*
