I have a cold. I actually feel ok. This cold didn't sit in my head/nose/sinuses - I got the scratchy/lumpy throat, and then it settled right in my lungs. Just a slight cough at first, but the last two days? Geesh!
Mostly evenings, I feel like I'm going to cough up a lung! My throat is tender from the coughing. I'm taking a cough medicine before bed, but last night was so bad it was 1:30 before I gave up being in bed and hit the couch. I propped myself up with pillows so I was semi-sitting, and was able to get some sleep then.
Any home remedies/tips to help shake this? Or to at least calm it a bit to help me sleep?

Get the cough syrup with codeine (behind the counter, no script needed) at Shoppers.

I've got the same thing going on. I did pick up some cough syrup with codeine and it did help with the coughing last night.

Oh my gosh!! It seems everyone has this junk right now! my friend has gone thru 2 bouts with it. She finally went to the Dr and got on an antibiotic. If you are coughing up green, I would. Right now I have the head version. All in my head. Either congested or running like a sieve. Headache, sore throat, dry cough. UGH!!

Everyone I know who has had that, has had it for over a month. Cold viruses are rough this year.

We have a never-ending round of man-cold going on here. We've been taking turns being sick for most of this year. I've taken to singing a little ditty about it. "This is the cold that never ends. It just goes on and on my friends. Some people started spreading it, not knowing what it was; And we'll continue having it forever just because...."   Joking aside, I hope you feel better soon, OP! |

2 weeks tomorrow for me...I'm about 80%..Took 2 days off and had some storm days to rest. Literally EXHAUSTED, like less than 800 steps a day on my Fitbit. (I'm generally 15-18k) I recommend NyQuil for a good sleep. Hope everyone feels better soon!

I had the flu last weekend and if you hadn't had it so long, I would have recommended going to the doctor to see if that was what you had. The Tamiflu they gave me worked miracles (or the 20 hours of sleep last saturday), but since you are out of the window, I wouldn't want to do that horrible swab.

I've had it twice in the last month. It sucks!
My recommendation is drinks lots of liquids, and take Nyquill to rest. Also? I would get in our hot tub and soak. It seemed to help loosen up the crap in my chest.

Get some codeine cough syrup from Shopper's or Boot's or whatever chain you have.
My doctor gave me some great medical advice when I saw her last (I still cough since December). She said "try not to cough". I am glad we don't pay for doctor visits personally. I would want a refund for this one!
