@calimom2. thank you so much for starting the thread, yestereday. I'm so sorry that I missed it. As you all know, I'm out of town , seeing the best doctor Iknow. He's not a traditional doctor by any means. He invented a machine using electro-stim and it enabled me to get out of a wheelchair and walk w/o pain. I know he's very good, because he has helped w/both lungs and chronic pain. So, now I'm letting him try and fix my motility issues. Anyway, I caught a nasty cold from the plane and forgot to post. I am deeply sorry guys.
At any rate, dh and the boys are planning to have the Chinese take-out that they were supposed to eat on Monday. They've been enjoying my homemade frozen meals, instead. :0 I'll be here enjoying not doing the dishes.
What's on your menu?
Gotta catch up on yesterday's Dinner tribe news.
Have a fantastic Thursday.

Don't be sorry, scrapmaven! Just get better. That's what we all want. For dinner tonight I'm making pulled BBQ chicken with low carb sauce. The fam will probably eat theirs on buns, but I will just use a fork for mine. Onion rings for them, cole slaw for me - though I might share if someone asks nicely.

Well, I am going to take one for the team and have pizza tonight. Don't worry, I can take it. SO and I went out to dinner last night, daughter is off school the rest of the week and went to see her mom, via grandma. We will be alone until Sunday. We had Mexican.

scrapmaven: ugh for plane germs - I am just getting over the cold I caught coming home from Oz. We are going simple tonight - bratwurst, with cheese spätzle and what ever veggies I have in the freezer. I've had an easy day today - no kinder because I swapped shifts for yesterday, so just a bit of grocery shopping, and lots of computer time, including watching the videos of our amazing football win last night!

Thank you, scrapmaven , for posting. I am so hoping you get relief. I, too, use several alternative medical sources and it has helped so much. I believe the next few generations will really see that trying, just trying something outside the Western model of medicine, can quite possibly help. Great news from you about getting out of the wheelchair! So, I am going out of town with dd from Friday through Sunday. We are headed to DC to visit friends and to shop for one friend's birthday, something I'll need decent shoes to do hahaha. These friends are "shop until you droppers," so I have to be prepared. I got out my hiking boots hahaha. Dh is staying home as he shops online and saves his hiking boots for the real thing! We'll have marinated elk steaks, baked beans, sauteed cabbage, and applesauce. And I have noticed an ice cream bowl in the sink every morning - dh has an addiction, apparently. I guess it's not dinner if he's eating it at midnight! Thanks for the thread.

Grilled lemon oregano chicken, Greek salad, pita and hummus is on the menu. We are going in 10 different directions tonight and this is an easy meal for everyone to grab when they have time. Hope you feel better quickly scrapmaven and I'm glad your new doctor was able to get you on your feet!

scrapmaven, I hope this doctor helps you and you're feeling better soon! scrappert, it takes a strong woman to take one for the team. Enjoy your pizza! Dh is still on his "non-spicy" kick. Asking for clarification and/or dinner suggestions has, of course, gotten me nowhere. This man is cramping my style. I'm tired of making what I think he wants and the rest of the family is getting tired of eating it. Tonight's non-spicy meal will be tater-tot casserole, roasted cauliflower, broccoli, and ? (there will be carrots and corn in the casserole so I'll have to find something else), applesauce, and rolls.

I am going to make the Rigatoni with Italian Sausage that I didn't make yesterday, using my ridiculous one-purpose kitchen gadget (see yesterday's thread for details, I don't think I can admit to buying it a second time!). We have actually used it once and it was really great, so I think we will be glad to have it, but not glad to store it, KWIM?

When I asked dh he said "it's a surprise ". That gives me no comfort since you all know his love for Chinese pie and dislike of garlic. I did say no to pizza...really trying to be good with my eating. Yesterday I ate my turkey breast, celery and grape tomatoes while 100 others ate pizza during a lunch meeting.

I guess I need to find out If he is eating later we will have Chicken Caesar Salad ... dd#2 isn't a fan though If not, the dd's and I will be having

We are having eggs for supper. So I will call it breakfast for supper. We have company coming this weekend to stay so I did some cleaning after work today and will do more tomorrow. I haven't been informed what time they will be arriving tomorrow night. They have an eight hour trip after they get off work tomorrow to get here. I'm assuming it will be pretty late when they arrive. scrapmaven not doing dishes would be great. Good luck with your appointments.

Don't be sorry, scrapmaven ! Just get better. That's what we all want. Agree a million times. I'm not totally sure about food. I walked in the kitchen a little while ago, looked around, considered that I might be hungry...and then walked back out. I am pretty tired and the idea of chewing food...that just seems so. much. work. I am hungry though, so something... And by the way, if anyone wants to jump in with an answer, I have a question...I am the lightest sleeper in the world. I have NO trouble falling asleep, but staying that way is a struggle. I wake up at the drop of a hat. I don't generally have trouble falling back asleep after I wake up...but I wake up at least four or five times a night. I have to pee, the cat jumps on the bed, whatever. I have a white noise machine AND a fan. The room is dark, the room is cool. I need to sleep. I have to sleep. I am tired all the damn time because I can't sleep through the night if my life depended on it. I am desperate...any ideas or advice on STAYING asleep??

I'm finally home after a long day. I took my school quiz bowl team to our last regular competition tonight. We won 2nd place in tonight's meet and 2nd place in the overall season...so we'll be going to finals in less than 2 weeks. The kids were hyped tonight.
They offer some snacks for the coaches before the meet and tongit was home made pimento cheese with crackers! One of my all time favorite foods and something I don't make at home often. Yummy!
Friday is almost here!!

Thank you for your wonderful thoughts and encouragement. We really are a family. anxiousmom, one thing that helps is avoiding white lights. Also, when you get up to use the bathroom, don't turn on the lights. If you can manage, keep lights off. Your body needs melatonin and white light destroys melatonin. I would do acupuncture if I were in your shoes, but you probably expected me to say that. scrappert, pizza counts as dinner. You are still welcome here. hehe. desertgirl, I love that you do alternative medicine. There is so much that we don't know and so much that we do know, but drug companies don't want us to know.

** scrapmaven .....Very high hopes & prayers that the wonderful doc is going to help your mo Tility issues !!! (hey...he did amazing things for your mo Bilitiy---why not mo Tility?) How long ago did he help you to get out of a wheelchair? That's amaaazing !!! And I totallly agree about alternative medicine----such wonderful things out there! I NEED to try accupuncture again!!! I hope you realize there is NO NEEDto apologize for not posting yesterday!!! (( hugs )) ESPECIALLY since you caught the dreaded "plane cold!" Ugh!I hate that that happened when you're trying to deal with other issues, and that it hasn't made you feel totallyfatigued and horrible! I also think it's so CUTE that you're not home, but still know what yourfamily's having for dinner each night. I'm the same way when I've traveled somewhere andchat with DH, part of our convo is always "sooo, what'd ya have for dinner tonight?" He used to think it was weird when I asked, but then he got used to it ** KelleeM ....You are a MUCH stronger person that I !!! Seriously----TURKEY when100 others were eating PIZZA !??! I KNOW I couldn't have done that !!! Big kudos to you!** scrappert ....I hope this time alone will be WONDERFUL for you and SO !!!
** anxiousmom .....wow---when chewing seems like too. much. work, you must
be sooo exhausted ! I have a tip for you that MIGHT work---I have two friends with your same problem; and they
swear by inhaling Lavendar essential oil, they also sprinkle it on their pillow, and sometimes rub it on the bottom of their feet. They say it usuallllly helps ! By the way, you can get
the oil at almost any grocery store now. There's also a long thread about your sameproblem, and many peAple gave their methods of staying asleep. ((( hugs )))---I knowhow important SLEEP is !!! Oh, and by the way---your story the other day aboutyour pants falling down..... ----you are SO funny the way you tell stories!!! ** desertgirl .....how fun that you're going to DC ! Have you been before? It looks as though you're mostly going to SHOP----sounds fun! I wonder if they'll take you and DD to Georgetown...it's a blast !!! Are you going to do any sightseeing? If you've been before, you already know there's just SO MUCHto see and do there, and I realize you're only going to be there a few days. I grew up there and did NOT appreciate allllll the history and amaaazing things there were to see and do! I don't know if you'll have time, but seeing the ORIGINAL Declaration of Independence is just....WOW! I'm thinking at this time of year, the lines won't be incredibly long, either ---Are you gonna go by the White House and wave at "you-know-who?" OOps, I'm NOT trying to make this post political----I promise!

anxiousmom ......Here is the 3-page thread about SLEEP problems....Hope this helps! I feel so bad for people who don't get quality sleep; I would be a basket case if I didn't ! 2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/57420/melatonin-sleepBy the way.....That thread talks about melatonin and many other meds such as Ambien, Lunesta, etc. Of course we are ALL different, so I try not to dwell on the BAD stories I've read. I don't know how familiar you are with Ambien; and/or if you even want to try medications----and I wouldn't blame you if you didn't. I personally wouldn't want to rely on a med to help me sleep, but that's easy for me to say when I've never had sleep problems. ANYHOO......in case you're interested: I've read MANY stories about people sleep-walking, sleep-cooking, sleep-DRIVING while taking it, and they have no memory of it. How scary! I will tell you 2 POSITIVE stories about Ambien..... both my sister and a friend have taken it, and had NO problems. They both said they just slept like babies, and woke up totally refreshed . As my sister said "Arrrgh, I don't believe the over-hyped stories of people making a cake (and EATING the whole thing in one sitting!!!) and not remembering it. She believes these stories are just over-hyped to scare people. Another friend tried Lunesta and said it helped her immensely, too. The only drawback of these meds is that I *think* they're not meant for long-term use. That would be another reason I would be afraid to try them in the first place---because, what would I do once I had to stop taking them?

Scrapmaven- you're lucky to have found a good alternative medicine dr. Traditional doctors seem to discount this often.
Saw the Bodyguard last night and I loved it. I am a huge Whitney Houston fan. It's the only non-Disney show that I knew all the words to the songs. My dh not so much. He liked it though because she was such a good singer.

anxiousmom - I had sleep problems for a long time. Finally sought help. It was pretty amazing. I am about to leave on a short trip, but when I return, I'll send you a PM that details what I went through. I actually saw a sleep therapist because the "side effects" of not sleeping are pretty horrendous and I did not want to continue with how I felt. It was time to stop not-sleeping and stop pussy-footing around with temporary solutions and suggestions from my well-meaning friends. It involves sleep hygiene, which was mentioned up-thread. But menopause had something to do with it so you may need a medicine temporarily to help you get more than the amount you currently get and the type of sleep you are getting with so much waking. You are going to have to train your body to sleep. I promise to type it out. You are my tribesfriend!
