So many movies have (what I consider) hardcore torture scenes.
I know this is nothing new in cinema, but to me, I just can't handle watching them.
People have recommended movies such as Law Abiding Citizen and The Wicker Man, but after looking them up on IMDB, I see that they include violent, disturbing torture scenes.
Are you able to look past torture scenes in movies to watch them? Do you enjoy those scenes?

No - I do NOT enjoy them but it if is part of the story and isn't long or too graphic - I can tolerate them.

No, not my thing. Watching people suffer, even in a fictional setting, is disturbing to me. I avoid movies or TV shows that I know have such scenes.

the wicker man was just an awful movie... don't waste your time on it, torture scene aside.
And if it's not just for the 'gore' factor, I can tolerate them, if they further the story. Mostly I just watch those types of scenes between my fingers.

No I don't even care for shows like Criminal Minds and Law and Order SVU. I just don't like listening to or watching torture, sexual, disturbing graphic scenes. Shooting scenes I'm ok with. I'm into comedy and drama. I don't need to watch disturbing stuff, I don't care how many people say the movie is great.

I can't think of a film I've watched that involved an actual full on torture scene but I do enjoy violent films and tv shows. Banshee is one of my all time favourite shows and it's pretty much non stop violent action. I wouldn't want to see those things in real life but on the screen it's just make believe and no one gets hurt.

No, I have a hard time with violent scenes. I have to watch those types of movies/TV shows by myself. I fast forward through those parts. I mentioned on the American Horror Story thread I don't see that show as an escape from reality and something I can really enjoy because of how intense it can be.

DO NOT WATCH LAW ABIDING CITIZEN!!!!
That movie seriously messed with my head in a very bad way for months after watching it. Nevermind the torture scene in it. There is a horrible graphic home invasion at the beginning that sets the plot into motion. It's easily one of the most disturbing scenes I've ever watched in any movie. And I watch a lot of horror and thrillers.

No way. I don't like a lot of violence in my movies, in general, but I especially hate anything where violence is perpetrated on a helpless or vulnerable person or animal

I saw it on Pinterest (PIN-trist ) and thought it made a lot of sense. Life is not a contest to see who can pack the most number of activities into each and every day, though if you listened to some of the parents at my kid's school yard, you might believe differently. I don't think some of those kids ever sleep.

I don't watch anything with a lot of violence at all. I won't even read books with an exceptional amount of violence.

No, I do not like watching torture scenes in movies at all. Especially ones with children, I always hope that they are not affected by acting in that scene.

Hate them. I watch Downton Abbey on DVD as a form of self hypnosis (something about the cadence calms me) when I am keyed up but I can't watch Season 4 disc 1 (Anna and Mr Gillingham/ Green) this way.

Can't bear it. I don't even like much of the violence in James Bond movies yet I can watch Batman/Superman and the like without it bothering me.
I, too, don't like too much sex in films. I'm old enough to know what's going on, I don't need to see and hear it as well!

No - that and hostages as part of the plot. If it's part of a tv show or movie. Won't even watch the whole show. I'm not sure why.

I can't watch a movie where the dog dies. Still pissed about how Somersby ended. I ended up in the aisle of the movie theater when the t-rex showed up in Jurassic Park. No, I do not watch torture.
ETA: I do love a good haunted house though. Somehow being in the action is fun. Watching it is awful.

I love action, mystery, and crime movies but I hate violence or torture scenes and always look away during them. It could be just a simple fist fight and I'll have to look away.

I even tear up in Homeward Bound when the older dog finally comes home (don't know why I can't remember his name all of a sudden)!

No torture, no rape, no violence in general. And I can't bear seeing women hit. And I don't want to read about torture or abuse, either.
My husband will watch any bang-bang, exploding-things kind of movie but he adamantly refuses to watch or read any torture scenes.
