I do not care if the trash is out on the curb waiting for pick up. I mean, really.
Otherwise, my can is hidden on the side of my house behind a hedge that goes along the side of the house for a ways. If someone came that far on my property to get into my can, I'd be unhappy. If I can carry my dog's poop back home, so can you. (And no, there is no receptacle for trash or dog waste anywhere around here. So you would have to carry it home.)

She's referring to the time between when the garbage truck picks up and the time she takes it back to the house. I personally don't and can't watch for the garbage truck so I can retrieve my can immediately. It sits on the street for a couple of hours until I get home from work.

No. We always bring it home. That's terribly rude.

If you leave your trash can out in the open and accessible, you shouldn't be surprised if someone else uses it. Not everyone is home all day, therefore trashcans sit out on collection day. It is rude to add the doggie bag to an empty can.

Too bad you don't live in a community like ours--no one has trash cans. The trash is put out in a plastic bag or large paper leaf bag. Trash collection comes along, toss the bags into the truck and nothing left to clean up, store etc.
Trash company gives the city cheaper rate because they can do the job with less workers and get it done faster.

No okay. I walk it home to ours.
My trashcan, no matter if it accessible or not , is my property. After we collect the cans, they go in the garage. I do not want to have your dog's shit in my garage.
Just to add to the vent, I was walking with my dog and her poo the other day. A boxer owner told me she doesn't take bags with her because she isn't cleaning up the dogs poop. It is cool for me to do it, but her dog takes big poops and she shouldn't have to carry that big of bag with her.

We used to be like that. Use whatever you wanted. But now, we have to "rent" standardized trash containers because the company got those trucks with the automated arms. I don't put my dog's poop in anybody else's trash cans except our own, even if the trash hasn't been picked up yet.

I would go with a sign on the can like the one shown.
I do not understand people that just assume they can do whatever they like, anywhere they like. I use bags that I buy at Daiso meant for the collection of feminine hygiene products for cleaning cat litter and dog poop. They are thicker than the stuff on the rolls for dogs. After filling one of these, I put it inside a collection container like a diaper genie only for pets. I have multiple litter boxes, and I do not want to smell poop in my house. The thicker bags and the collection container have solved the issue for me. Although, when my dog poops on his potty pad, it goes immediately into the toilet and is flushed. Outside, I try to have a box of the Daiso bags, but I always have the thinner dog collection containers in both my purse and my car at all times. When using one of those, I go ahead and double bag it and bring it home with me to throw away there. It is so easy to be considerate and responsible that I don't see why everyone isn't.

Someone just did this to me this week! Came home to put the empty can away and someone's poop bag was in there! I was so mad!

Oh good lord no!!! I must admit that if I’m walking my dog the night before rubbish collection when all the bins are out, I am very tempted to sneak it into someon’s bin rather than carrying it around until I get to a bin, but I would NEVER actually do it! There are a lot of parks in my neighbourhood so I am never more than 5 minutes from the nearest bin anyway

That's a nice sentiment, but I know for me...I work outside the home. I put my can out at the curb on in the morning of pickup day and unfortunately, it sits out until I get home to which, I promptly return my can to the garage. Or you wait for your husband to come home and put them back on our property away from the road. We don't have a garage. Also, it's picked up on the side of our house, so I forget half the time because I use the front door.

Many dog owners think nothing is wrong with that. I was told by someone once dropping their little bag in my trash "if your can is at the curb it is in the public domain" which I believe is true. Still doesn't make it right. I am on the path to the school yard where everyone takes their dogs. If it's my friend and they asked I would say sure. But to assume is rude.

I have three big dogs and we camp a lot. So I have a morning routine, first I take the old man dog, then the puppy and then the middle dog. The last dog is picky about when and where so she is always last And let me tell you, our German Shepherd Dog can out poop that lady's Boxer and we still pick it up! I'm actually a double bagger, I don't trust single bags so I always use two bags Op, that is rude and not ok!!

So I generally am not uptight about this kind of thing at all, and roll my eyes when people get all bent about stupid crap, but even I think that is rude af.

The other day, I was walking my corgi and a lady walked past us as I was picking up the poop. She told me that she just attached it to the dog's collar and he carried it home. Ha. A bag of poo from a corgi's neck is sidewalk level. We had a good laugh as my dog refused to take one step with the poo attached to his neck. The day before that, a lady tried to give me a bag to pick up my sheltie's poop. She hadn't pooped, just peed. She seemed pissed that I didn't want a bag. I have 20 attached to the leash.

Good grief! What makes people think they can do whatever they want whenever they want? Sure, it may be technically legal but that doesn't make it ok. Owning a pet includes being responsible for the gross stuff. My evil twin might be tempted to find out who it is and start dumping used diapers in their can. ( I wouldn't really do this, but people with no boundaries can really frustrate me sometimes.)

I would totally print something like this and have it laminated and attach it to my trash can somehow to withstand the rain. I try to keep my can clean too and hate when it gets stinky. I would be pretty peeved if someone threw a poop bag in my empty trash bag and would probably lose my mind if I caught my neighbor doing that. Gross AND rude! SaveSave
