Someone in my neighborhood always leaves their doggy poop bag in my empty trash can (trash has already been collected). I think that is so rude! Now I am stuck with it until next collection day. Not to mention I live in Florida and the heat sometimes melts the bag to the bottom of the can.

Not okay. Especially under the circumstances described. I would give people a bit more of a pass here because it's currently 24*F, but still, it's rude. And I've owned seven dogs in my adult lifetime.

Can you put your can into your garage?

Nope. I take it home and throw it in my own trash can. Those poop bags aren't the strongest and I can imagine them popping when heavier trash is put on top of it.

Ew, no! I carry my little blue bag of poop all through the neighborhood until I get to my own house, even on trash days when unemptied cans line the street. They are not public property.

OMG-NO!!! I wouldn't want anyone putting anything in my can- I keep my garbage as "clean" as I can because I hate a smelly can. I would be using my investigative skills to figure that one out. And it wouldn't be pretty when I found out.

That is SO rude. Someone in my neighborhood does the same in my trash can all the time. However, I throw my own dog's poop in it so it's already stinky. I try as often as possible to walk my dog on the hike and bike trail so I can use the trashcans provided. I HATE how stinky my trashcan gets.

Yes very rude.
I have been known to put my baggie in a trash can, but it is only when the trash hasn't been picked (only on trash day) up and I am far from home. That would be the only reason. (Then I try to find the grossest trash can... lol) But it is totally bagged up and sealed off. I would never leave in an empty can. (our trash is also picked up in the morning so it wouldn't be in there but for a little bit)

If you leave your trash can out in the open and accessible, you shouldn't be surprised if someone else uses it.

I agree, not right. But I can't help thinking back not so very long ago, before poop bags, when the complaint would have been about treading in dog muck when we went out to the bin. Which is worse? I would say treading in the stuff. So yes poop bags left in someone else's bin it absolutely yucky, but better than the alternative.

Not ok.
Nothing gives another person the right to be on your property and then use your property.
So, so rude and so, so wrong.

RUDE! We have wonderful neighbors who totally redid their old house and put in beautiful landscaping. I live in an older neighborhood and everyone walks their dogs. These neighbors put in a poop station with a trash can and poop bags. I do my part and buy them a case of bags every year. I wish there was one on every block.

Do you need to put trash out weekly? We don't have to as it is only 2 of us and we aren't in FL. Maybe if you'd skip putting your trash out a few times the dropper will drop in another can! MAYBE.......

I guess you will have to put a sign on your trash can.

If you leave your trash can out in the open and accessible, you shouldn't be surprised if someone else uses it. You have to leave it out for collection, and while I have no issues if you throw away an empty chip bag in my empty can, I draw the line at dog poop. We keep our bin in the garage and I do not own a dog, so why should I have to smell that person's gross dog shit? OP, I would totally put a big sign on the can.

Oh hell no. Either leave a sign saying not to do it and they are on camera or figure out who it is and leave some chicken bones in their container right after trash pick up.

I wouldn't care if they thew something in there BEFORE the trash is picked up - but an empty can - totally rude. I'd be having a little chat with that neighbor.

Not in a million years, then again in my small village there are about ten public bins just for dog poo so you not too far way from a place to deposit the filled poo bag. The council empty them on a regular basis.
If we walk in other more open places then I just bring it home and put it in our own bin.

If you leave your trash can out in the open and accessible, you shouldn't be surprised if someone else uses it. That's a nice sentiment, but I know for me...I work outside the home. I put my can out at the curb on in the morning of pickup day and unfortunately, it sits out until I get home to which, I promptly return my can to the garage.

Print/buy and tape to the side of the can! Throwing an empty cup or wrapper in a can at the curb on pickup day is a completely different story than tossing in your bag of shit. But no, I should NOT expect others to just help themselves to my property.

Thankfully we walk around a lake where there are plenty. Whenever I see someone with a big honking bag of poo walking past our yard, I do offer to let them throw it in our can. Some of those plastic bags do not keep the smell in very well. Since we already have the bags in our trash, it doesn't bother me.

Wow didn't know it was a big issue to do that. I guess I don't see an issue because my garbage cans are in the alley. I prefer they use them rather then what some assholes do which is either let their dog shit on my grass or sidewalk.
We've put our bagged poop in receptacles along the walking trails.
