link from the article>>> Robert Harward, a former deputy commander of U.S. Central Command, has turned down President Trump's offer to become the next national security adviser, according to reports from CBS News and The Financial Times. Harward had been widely reported as the favorite to replace former general Michael Flynn, who resigned after misleading Vice President Pence about the nature of his conversations with the Russian ambassador. Trump asked the retired Navy SEAL, 60, to take the position, but he turned it down over concerns that he would not have full say over the composition of his staff, CBS and The Financial Times reported, citing unnamed sources. According to CBS, Trump insisted that Deputy National Security Adviser K.T. McFarland be allowed to stay on, and Harward refused to retain the Flynn hire. Harward also cited the apparent lack of organization within the Trump White House, FT reported. “Harward is conflicted between the call of duty and the obvious dysfunctionality,” one source said, according to FT.

Wise man.
I guess that leaves Keith Kellogg. Petraeus is still on probation, isn't he (although he might be helpful in bridging between Trump and the CIA, minimize the enmity so to speak)?

Petraeus has already proven himself to not be able to keep confidential info to himself. So of course Trump will want him because he knows it will tick everyone off.

I have seen reports both that today's presser was "not unnoticed" and that Hayward called the job "a shit sandwich."

good for Harward. Talk about a vote of "no confidence" for Trump. Hint of many more such things to come.

This is the second one in as many days. Hopefully more and more people will get up the courage to say no.

I love the shit sandwich line.
Someone on Twitter suggested Trump not pick anymore Navy guys - they know better than to swim towards a sinking ship.

I'm torn. On the one hand, I don't blame anyone for staying as far away as possible from the Trump crazy. It's liable to rub off. OTOH, the kind of person who would say no to Trump is exactly who I want running things.

At least there would be some willing to stand up to him.

This just goes to show that anyone smart enough to handle this job and the mess that comes with it is too smart to accept it.
