I posted this over on the scrapbooking board but figured I'd post it here too fot a variety of responses. Does anyone have experience using the Becky Higgins Project Life App and could you answer a few questions for me? Is it easy to use? How do you store your layouts? Are they all 12x12, or can you choose other sizes? Can you upload them to a printer like Shutterfly? How do they look in print? Ok, grainy, too small? If I have separate papers and cards from other Digi scrapbooking kits can I upload them on my phone and snap them into the templates in the app? Thanks!!

I use it and love it!
It is easy to use, the layouts are stored right there in the app but you can download them to post on your blog or save the image of the LO
There are different sizes - 8x8 and 12x12 are the most popular.
You can download them from the app and I suppose you could upload to Shutterfly (although I have not personally done this)
I order the prints (I like 12x12) directly from the app and the quality is amazing! Very high quality prints.
I do not believe you can upload other Digi-kits to the app but BH does have digital scrapbooking that is available to use with Photoshop Elements and I believe you can use your other digi-kits there but I don't think you can upload them/use them with the app.
The PL app is pretty much the only way I have scrapbooked for the past 2-3 years.
FYI - the app now has a book option so you can order a book instead of prints. I haven't tried it yet but they seem like very good quality.
FYI (part 2) - I prefer to use my iPad since it is bigger and easier to see. You can transfer your LOs from your iPad to iPhone but you can only edit them on the original device (which I do not like - wish you could edit from either one no matter which device it was created on). If you buy a card kit (generally $0.99), they they are available on both devices - you don't have to purchase the kits twice.
Any more questions, let me know.

I scrapbooked my fall vacation on this app while we were on vacation (3 1/2 week cruise from Hawaii to Australia)!
I need to print them out still, but I was very please with how easy it was to use. I'm just going to order my print (12x12) through the app. There are some pages I'm going to do "old school" because I want to add little mementos in and stuff.

thanks for posting this! Is this for digital scrappers? I downloaded it and got some layout ideas but no idea how else this translates into paper scrapping?

thanks for posting this! Is this for digital scrappers? I downloaded it and got some layout ideas but no idea how else this translates into paper scrapping? I guess in a sense it is "digital", but you just use your phone or tablet and the app (I call it electronic scrapping) - you don't need additional software (like photoshop elements) to create your layouts. You just open the app, open the layout choices (designs) - click on it and then add your photos directly from your phone/table. Then you can select PL cards and add journaling (by typing or speaking on your phone/table). Save

I have it but only use it on vacation to document what we do each day...I do a layout then upload it to Collect. I am not a fan of the finished layouts, but only because my scrapping style is quite different. I have never had any printed but just save them all to my EHD. I mostly use it to print cards or collages for my physical PL album. I do that A LOT.
You can use digital kits in the app, but you need to upload them to Dropbox and import them from there. To me, that defeats the whole purpose of the app being an "on the fly" type deal, but people do do it that way and their layouts are amazing.
You can also use other apps to add type to your pictures...like Over...before using them in the app.
So, if you are so inclined, there are a lot of options available.

Are you ordering the prints through them? Or through any photo service? I'm in Canada and I'm not ordering through the States with our dollar. I had downloaded the app and played a couple of times but never went to far with it.

I have it. disneypal gave you a very good explanation. It is so, so easy to use. The kits, layouts and font add-ons aren't overly expensive to buy. It's a quick way to get some pictures on pages and into albums. I use the app on my iPad. Just sit in the chair, watch TV and make a couple pages when the mood hits. We went to Disney last month. I put together pages from almost our whole trip on the plane on the way home. The pages store right in the app until you export them, so it's easy to go back and edit if you change your mind about something. You can upload the completed pages to other places. I've ordered my prints through Persnickety Prints. They have sales a couple times a year where you can buy 12x12 credits for $1.49 a print rather than the $1.99 normal price. The images are not grainy at all. The photos are clear and they look just like my Project Life pocket pages with printed 4x6's and cards when I slip them into a page protector. If you want to dress the layouts up a bit, you could add some embellishments to the pages before you pop them into a protector. But, they look just fine as they are, too.

You can, theoretically, use other digital scrapping supplies, if you have them stored as jpegs on your phone/iPad. You would just insert them like a picture.
I haven't done it, but there's no reason it wouldn't work.

I wouldn't think you would be able to add your own digital elements since BH probably wants you to buy hers??
I have the app on my android phone and when I got my tablet also a a samsung the app didn't automatically load on to it any idea how I'd get it to? It says on the FAQ page it does transfer over.
OP I crop with a few people that use the app within their pl albums and they love the app. They do a hybrid version having app pages and traditional pages thru out the album and some app pages they add embellishing too.
I remember a cropper saying when she prints a 8x8 page she has to adjust something when sending it to costco to be printed hmm borderless I think??
The few times I've played with the app I've really liked it.

I have used it to quickly plan my physical PL pages and to know which photos I wanted to use and print. I have a lot of physical pages that I need to use and it helps to speed up my process. I'm a slow scrapper without it.

I use it almost exclusively now. I use the 4x6 format and just pop them into poctet pages. I save them to google pics and upload them to Costco right from Google for printing. I LOVE it. They are also stored on my phone.

I use it and like it but there are some things that frustrate me. First, I wish I could use any card on any size"pocket." For example, there are some that are just for 4x4 pockets. I also wish that I could put text on any card, not just title or journaling cards. I would also like to be able to put text on pictures. Finally, my biggest problem is that I bought it for my iPad and then had to buy it again for my Android phone. My cards are not transferable between the two so I have to pay double for them.
On the plus side, it is pretty easy to use and the print quality is awesome. I like that I can be anywhere and make a page on my phone. So, while there are frustrations, I still use it and do like it.

I uploaded all my digital scrapping journal cards on to my iPad and organized them in folders by type (Halloween, Christmas, Summer, etc). I use them more frequently than the PL cards. I think I have read Becky say to use all your goods. I love the app. I also export the pages and print at Shutterfly. I have ordered prints from the app & they were really nice. Stacy

There is a fantastic group on FB called Project Life App Scrappers.
I've used the PL App since it was released. I now find it very confining and have branched out to using other apps in conjunction with it.
printing bound books I use shutterfly or blurb
printing individual pages are print credits bought on sale from Persnickity prints, shipping international within the pl app is outrageous.
This his is the one "extra" we build into our budget. With my memory so severely impacted I need these pages.

Thank you for posting here, I didn't know about this app. I bought it and made two pages. This might awaken my interest in scrapping again! If nothing else, I'll have a great new way to waste time in waiting rooms.

I do use other apps (like pic stitch, for example) and then import the image to the Project Life app. I print them all myself at 8x8, but you can save them and print them as you would any other photo. I have a full-size iPad that I use pretty much lust for PL, (I use a mini for most other tablet stuff) and I have a keyboard that I use with it just for the PL app, because it's easier to type. I use it all the time to document my days, and with grandchildren now, there seems to be a lot to document.

to the above poster (and others who may not know this...) You can use any card in any pocket. What you have to do, is put the card in the correct sized pocket, and then you can move it around the lay out to whatever pocket you want.

I love it. There are some things i wish they would enhance, like being able to organize finished pages better, but overall i give it a thumbs up! off to check out the FB group mentioned above.

I need to start printing pages again.

There are some things i wish they would enhance, like being able to organize finished pages better Do you re-name your pages? I do so that I can organize them a bit better (since I do 2 LOs a week, I start with the year and then the page number - ex: 2017-001, 2017-002, 2017-003,etc.) - then when I go to my library, I can sort by name and they are in order One thing I wish they would enhance is the ability to use more than one devise for the same page. I prefer using my iPad, because it is bigger but sometimes I am in a waiting room or have some time to pass. I don't carry my iPad around with me but I always have my phone. So, say I started a page on my phone, I can't then go home and finish it up on my iPad - the library from my iPhone isn't linked to the library on my iPad. There is a way to move it over from my phone to iPad but it can't be edited on the iPad after you move it there. I would just like them to be one account so you can access and edit all pages, all layouts, etc from either of your devices.

I only read a couple of responses and disneypal seemed to have it down. I wanted to say that I just had my first several layouts printed. I chose to use the pl app printer after finding out they use persnickety prints. I received them today and they look amazing. The only down side for me is that the "cards" have no shadows to make it look realistic. But not too big of a deal. I like to use other digital cards which is easy to do by uploading them to dropbox, but you have to use them like a photo. So the negative is there is No text application.

Here's a link on using other digital cards in the project life app. The only drawback is that you have to upload them into the app as photos rather than cards, so you cannot journal on any non BH cards. Linky Dinky Do
