Has anyone used this? I want to try switching and this one isn't a name that comes up in threads but the dog food advisor site had it under 5 stars at 4.5.
I just wonder what experiences people had. I bought a sample of Orijen but haven't opened it. It seems like it is higher in protein and better for very active dogs.
Thanks!

I never heard of Nulo but had tried Orijen puppy food and it upset m Boo's stomach. My vet thought it was because the protein content was so high in Orijen. Had the same problem with Acana, which is made by the same company as Orijen.
Boo is a very very spoiled 10 month old shih tzu and I feed him a mix if 1 Primal freeze dried nugget and 1/4 cup of Open Farm kibble twice a day. The Open Farm is either chicken, whitefish, or pork. I rotate flavors so he gets used to eating a variety as my previous dog was a show dog at one point and a very fussy eater. I would like to give Boo all primal freeze dried but he is doing great on his current food so am going to leave things alone for now.
The Nulo is made in the USA per their website but I couldn't find where they get their ingredients so I would want verify that information before giving it to my dog. It seems to be sold in petsmart and I would normally say stay away from supermarket type food, but it is also sold in a couple of good independent pet stores in my area and has a good rating, so would consider it.

Thank you for the information. It'd be easier to keep using what we are using now, but I want to see if it helps with a few things by switching. Off to look up what you use!

I ordered some nulo but I'll keep that in mind. Thanks!

I definitely need this thread! About to be a first time dog owner and I've spent the evening at the pet store and online dithering between Acana and Orijen. I don't know what the hell I'm doing. The breeder says both brands are good. This dog gig is totally overwhelming...and I don't even have the puppy yet!!!

What kind of dog are you getting? That will make a difference in which food you get. I have herding dogs that are around 70 lbs. They don't even need the Orijen now so I switched to Acana. One has a sensitive tummy, and it's still amazing for him. We have everything on auto ship from chewy.com. I get their supplements, food, training treats, etc., from chewy. So much easier, cheaper, and timely. We have owned dogs for 28 years now, and I still learn something new. We are working with a trainer now for our big boys who are "just turned" 2 and "will turn" 2 in April. Have fun!

I've done a little info gathering on food, and my understanding is that Acana and Orijen are both very high quality, and the main difference is that Orijen is higher in protein. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Acana seems to be a bit lower in price and has a wide variety of flavours (?). Acana is also made in my province (I'm in Canada) which I like, for some reason.

Awesome! Is the lab a pup or older? We start our dogs in training and socializing at 10 weeks old (get them at 8 weeks old). Works very well. And you are correct about the dog food. Acana would be perfect for your guy.

Is that food really as expensive as I see on Amazon?! I hope you have small dogs if it is!
