Update 3/26/17Well, after almost 55 days, we are returning the mattress. I wanted to love it so badly but I ache every.single.morning. Hubby and I have decided that any mattress with memory foam just does not work for me. So, we are now trying a Saatva. It will be delivered in 9-18 days. Saatva has a 120 day trial policy with a very easy return also so we will see how it goes. Praying the Saatva is our answer! OPOur Purple mattress arrived yesterday. I was running errands, and as I got home, I noticed the FedEx man in my driveway. I parked in the culdesac and said "You have my mattress." He asked me where I wanted it, and he was able to drop it in the front door. He couldn't bring it in but kind of "dropped it in" for me which was helpful. I then got it to the bedroom until hubby came home. We got it on the bed, and I didn't wake up with a throbbing back this morning! Yes!! Hubby seems to like it too. It seems amazing. We had a $4K+ Tempurpedic that we got just a 1 1/2 years ago, and never, ever again. We thought for $1K why not try it for 100 days. Easy peasy. linda~lou has ordered one too so I can't wait to hear her feedback. So first night down and happy! The purple sample is too fun. Even one of my daughters said it's like a stress reliever just to play with it and squish it. She thought our Tempurpedic felt like laying on steel. She LOVED the Purple mattress when she tried it out last night. So if you are considering it, so far our review is a happy one.

I'm glad you like it! I'll be curious to hear more feedback since we're now in the market for something to help with DH's shoulder pain.

Yay! Our new mattress (Texas Mattress Makers) arrives today, too. I'm anxious to try it out. Hope you keep loving the purple one.

I considered one of these, but couldn't convince DH to buy a mattress without being able to actually try it out first.

I'm interested as well. Going into a store any laying on a mattress for a few minutes isn't the same as trying it by sleeping on it. I wonder what they do with the ones that are returned though.

Last year we bought the Brooklyn Bed "Best Bed Ever". It is natural latex and foam core and is available in various levels of support. Has the same trial period as the Purple matteress. It was just under $1000.00 and we bought it after we returned a a much hated $3000.00+ Temrapedic. Was not to confident buying without trying, but been very happy with this matteress and it is not sagging or "denting" at all and d/h is quite robust in stature.

Will you give more detail how it differs from a Temppedic, we love ours? We need a new mattress in another room. I hate to mattress and shop, plus would love to save some money!

Yay! Hope it continues to be good to you. We've had ours 8 or other months and still really like it.
It's so hard to explain how it's different until someone sees/touches that little sample, but it really is different than any foam or latex I've seen. It's a gel-like grid that rebounds extremely easily but also has a lot of give. We went through a few different mattresses, and for us, Purple had the contour of a foam mattress but with a lot more support and better bounce. The best of both worlds between foam and coil to me. Foam took time to return to shape and it was like you were sucked into it, hard to move.

Each of the online companies is a little different, but iirc, with Purple you either donate it to a charity and they refund you or they'll arrange a company to come pick it up and probably still take it to a charity to get the write off.

Purple does donate mattresses locally that people want to return. It would cost to much to actually return the mattress to them so they have a local donation place pick it up from your house and donate it. Seemed to easy for us not to try!

I considered one of these, but couldn't convince DH to buy a mattress without being able to actually try it out first. My husband was EXACTLY the same way. He laughed when I told him about this mattress. And then when I told him the cost, he laughed more. Then he did some research. I didn't know he was researching it, and he comes home one night and says "Let's order it. Seems like it could be very good, and for the cost why not try it." I about dropped out of my chair because if you knew my engineering hubby, that is totally unlike him. I was skeptical too but hey it's proven to be better than spending hours going to various stores, laying on mattresses for a few minutes and thinking you have picked the right one. We thought we did that with the Tempurpedic. SO, SO wrong! And that stupid thing was 4x the cost.

I have to wait until later in the year, but I've decided to buy a Purple. I love hearing the good reviews. I read in bed a lot, therefore my mattresses always wear out up at the top. AN do you think that would be an issue with this mattress? Do you or your DH read in bed?

Will you give more detail how it differs from a Temppedic, we love ours? We need a new mattress in another room. I hate to mattress and shop, plus would love to save some money! Totally different from the Tempurpedic. Here is what their site says about the polymer that's used on top. It is SO hard to explain but when you touch the stuff--oh my!!! LOVE it! "The Hyper-Elastic Polymer™ Purple is a pressure-releasing material. This material is organized in a grid formation, which creates walls that can support or fold depending on how much pressure it receive." Also, click here and there is a whole page about it and why it's different. Two engineers designed it, and I think it's also what's used in Dr. Scholl's shoe inserts. I think I read that on the Purple site too. onpurple.com/mattress/science

Is this a whole mattress (with box springs) or a matress topper? (Off to google...)

Is this a whole mattress (with box springs) or a matress topper? (Off to google...) It is a mattress NOT a topper. But you have to provide the base whether it be box springs or something else. We are just using what we had with the Tempurpedic. Works great. They also sell a base if you want to use theirs.

The Purple doesn't come in a full, so we bought a Nest Mattress. Lower end for them, but I like it. Not as fluffy as the hybrid one we bought DS at a mattress fundraiser, but works for us. I need to replace our old box with the base they sell, just haven't done it.

My son came home last weekend and the purple pillow arrived. Let me just say, we all oohed and aahed over it. He slept on it for two night and said it was a awesome. I just kind of gave it a mini trial and what I liked was how cool (temperature wise) it stayed). It surprised me how heavy it was. He got a pretty good deal on it as he ordered it several months ago through a Kickstart program.

For those of you with the Purple mattresses, did you buy their special stretchy sheets, too? Or, are you using your own?

How does it breathe? DH runs hot. We need a new matress. The one we have is about 4yo and very dented. We are not heavy people at all (DH is actually trying to gain weight).

AN do you think that would be an issue with this mattress? Do you or your DH read in bed? I do read in bed sometimes, but not enough where I've ever had that issue. I honestly couldn't say, but the mattress can be rotated. We have ours on an adjustable base from Costco and DH sleeps with his side in a zero-gravity position, and we haven't noticed any particular wear in the areas where it bends every night for 7+ hours. For those of you with the Purple mattresses, did you buy their special stretchy sheets, too? Or, are you using your own? I just use normal sheets (Amazon Basics). No issues. I don't know what I'm missing out on with the strechy sheets but do not think they are necessary.

It breaths as well as any other mattress I've had - sometimes I still feel warm at night, but no moreso than with our spring mattress. And it's better than the memory foam mattress we had on that front.

I've been looking at Purple. Glad to see good reviews. I'm embarrassed to admit that I have been swayed by their ad. Mallory from Studio C is very good at selling me on mattresses apparently.
