and there are tons of beautiful LO's out there, but everything is SO white, and mixed media. I'd say, probably 9 out of 10 LO's have a white background. Yes, it's refreshing, and light, but, after a while, it gets boring. Everyone seems to be scrapping the same way, right now, and it's making it really hard to find inspiration...something that I will actually use.
ETA: I have watched all if GG's videos, but may go back, and watch some of her older ones sometime.

Glitter Girl uses lots of colored backgrounds. I tell you KikiPea I am in the same boat so I will be watching this thread. I rarely ever use a white background.

Shimelle was the first person I thought of as well. I'd like to expand my list of people I follow who use patterned paper backgrounds. I love white and mixed media. I just don't tend to go that way myself when I start a page.

I Project Life and i also skip most of the Ali Edwards/Marcy Penner and their ilk white, white, white with soft accents and blown out photos. The first few pages i think, "nice, simple" then it's "really, still this?"

If you haven't already, you may want to check out NicoleJones911. Particularly, her older videos. She experiments a bit with mixed media at one point, but doesn't really stick with it. Right now, she is scrapping with her stash, so you will see her using older products, which is fun.

Another vote here for Mercy Tiara. And I love seeing her cats walk through the videos. Makes me miss my Siamese.

I just started watching Mercy Tiara on Saturday. I've only seen a couple videos but have liked it so far. She seems like a real scrapper to me. Some seem like all show. I don't tend to stick long with those.

soft accents and blown out photos. This drives me nuts and is such a turn-off for me. I feel like the majority of scrapbook 'celebrity's' IG feeds are like this and it is such a borefest to me. They edit their photos to the point of white washing the heck out of them and it's so extremely overdone. I feel like I have to squint and get close just to see the colors and elements. To me it takes the focus completely away from the photos!

I browsed through my youtube subscriptions real quick and came up with this list of people who have not been mentioned. They do some white background & mixed media pages, but there's a lot of patterns too.

Once its so white washed it matches any scrapbook paper or embellishment you grab. I think they will look back and regret doing that to all of the pictures.

For those of us without a home photo printer, or who have old pre-digital photos to scrap, I prefer to watch videos of people scrapping with "real" photos. The kind that are sometimes a little too dark, or busy/cluttered (instead of the one person close up like so many photos used these days).

I'm also a NicoleJones911 fan. She's the only scrapper I actually want to listen to for an entire hour. If you like Scrapbook Generation style layouts you might like Colie Bing. I've been enjoying Mari Clake lately. I also like Lina, Crafty Maven Getaway, and Ashley Laura for her DIY embellishment videos.

I don't tend to stick long with those. I'm curious about what you mean about 'seeing all like show'? I've watched some that don't sit right with me, and I'm thinking that may be it, as I haven't quite pinpointed my issue with them until now. Tracy is great though, and her scrap chats are always good too. Nice long thought out answers to the questions asked of her. To me, it feels like some of the videos I watch are all about selling a product. Preserving memories is just a happy second thought. It's not everyone but sometimes that's just a feeling I get. They're still producing amazing pages that many people like. It's just not my end goal. I probably sound like a terrible stuck up snob saying that. It's not my intention.

To me it takes the focus completely away from the photos! I call this the "Life is but a dream" edit. They're going to regret it when they look back and realise there's a dissonance between what's on the page and the actual memory they're trying to bring up years later. No blue skies, no intense red flowers or strawberries, no sharp high contrast portraits of the children's faces when they were still little. Besides the occasional appearance of a jacket or scarf, you couldn't tell photos from summer apart from the winter shots. I hope they've safely saved and backed up the original pics!

Yup^^
Back when I started scrapbooking, there was a trend to cut the backgrounds out of pictures. Circles, stars, those terrible silhouettes. Ugh. Then it was all about zooming in and stepping closer to fill the frame with your subject so we didn't have to edit out the distracting background. There's history and stories in that stuff too.

i find the longer i've been watching videos the pickier i have become. One thing that has never changed is my utter hate of the hand caressing at the start. If it goes too long i dump the subscription. i hate the nonstop monologue while they flutter their hands around, or caress the album over and over while talking about what we're gonna see. Just get on with it.

Back about 10 years ago a guy from Minneapolis, MN made a documentary on scrapbooking. Yep, a guy. It is very good. In one segment, he meets with a historian and they talk about how the stuff in the background of photos is just as important as the person/subject matter. I have it in DVD otherwise I would share it here. Maybe when I get home, I can see if there is a website still for it.

Too long intro is annoying to me -- I skip through Tim's old fashion countdown, I only watched the new GG intro once (tho' I do think the subtle throwing of glitter is cute) -- just get on with it. I'm also sensitive to voice pitch.

In my childhood scrapbook I love looking at the surroundings, the ugly 80s couch, the horrible colored kitchen cabinets, the old products sitting on the coffee table you cant find now. My mom didnt use any embellishments on my page, just a picture and journaling. In doing my daughters album I find myself zooming in on her rather than leaving a big background, Im trying to work on that

Anything by Shimelle Laine is a must-watch! Check out all of her Youtube videos.
Kikki--if you haven't watched Shimelle's free 4x6 Photo Love class videos, definitely give those a look.
I think I just talked myself into a nice afternoon of binge-watching Youtube scrappy videos.

So many great mentions on this thread already. I've made a note of a few YouTubers I haven't watched yet.
Current favourite is probably The Doctors Are In series with Tracy (MercyTiara) and Irit (who might get overshadowed a bit by Tracy's success but is really inspiring and deserves just as much love).
