If you share something on FB with only 1 specified person - do they know/can they see that they're the only one you shared it with or does it look like a standard shared post?

They know you only shared with them, but others can see it as well.

But like mentioned others can see it too. If you want it only to be seen by the recipient then you can send it via messaging.

You can change your privacy setting for individual postings. You can have it so that only one or a few friends can see it.
ETA- When you start a new post, right under your name you should see a box that shows who can see that post. There is a drop down box where you can change that setting and even create a custom one.

Yes, I do see that but I didn't want that person to realise that I only wanted them to see it. I want it to look like it's a general repost, not specifically to the, if that makes sense.

The custom function doesn't list out who you are sending it to, so they may not realize you just sending it to them.
