From a Facebook feed--
I'm a writer. It's how I vent. So I wrote this. Feel free to add your own reasons.
NOT MY PRESIDENT. Here’s why:
A lifetime of greed is not public service. Self-aggrandizement is not statesmanship. Narcissism is not confidence. Bullying is not strength. Empathy and humility are not signs of weakness. Conspiracy theories are not worthy of the most powerful man in the world. Being monumentally tone deaf does not suggest a sound mind. False equivalency is not intelligent reasoning. Education is not elitism. Accepted science is not a matter of opinion. Climate change is not a hoax.
And ignorance is not inspiring.
Campaign speeches are not written in disappearing ink. Evidence does not vanish because it is wished away. Video of a despicable person mocking POWs and the disabled is not deniable. A candidate’s call for a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States” is not forgotten. Threatening to jail an opposing candidate is not tolerable. The United States is not a banana republic. A presidential campaign is not lowbrow reality TV.
And the presidency is not merely an extension of the campaign.
Losing by three million votes is not a mandate. A three-state Electoral College margin is not a landslide. Organized protests are not “professional” protests. Activists are not anarchists. Celebrity citizens do not have to shut up. What the president says is not a trifling matter. Exaggeration is not authenticity. Diarrhea of the mouth is not “telling it like it is.” Blaming others is not leadership. Scapegoating the disenfranchised is not honorable. Name-calling is not the approach of a grownup. Personal attacks are not in any way presidential. Acting presidential is not particularly difficult.
And the president does not represent only those who voted for him.
Uncomfortable facts are not “fake news.” Accurate information is not partisan propaganda. The media does not work for the president. Bowling Green, Atlanta, and Sweden did not experience terror attacks. A series of accidental misstatements are not an accident. “People are saying” is not a verifiable source. “A lot of people agree” does not validate a falsehood. “Believe me” is not evidence of trustworthiness.
And repeated lies do not turn into truths.
A wall signifies not even basic understanding of our immigrant foundation. The Statue of Liberty is not just a sculpture. Desperate refugees are not diabolical. The vast majority of immigrants, legal or otherwise, are not criminals. Millions of patriotic Muslims are not in any way okay with terrorism. Transgender people are not sexual predators. Planned Parenthood is not an evil organization. Extremely rare voter fraud does not justify widespread voter repression.
And fear-mongering is not a tactic of anyone but a fascist demagogue.
The “alt-right” is not alright. Neo-Nazism cannot be normalized. A champion of white nationalism should not be whispering in the president’s ear. “African-American” does not equal “inner-city thug.” Enabling racism is not any different than being racist. Ignoring anti-Semitism is not going to stop it. Islamophobia is not an acceptable platform. Xenophobia must not be state-sponsored.
And rejection of intolerance is not… intolerance.
Rural America is not “the real America” because “the real America” is not a real thing. The U.S. is not a “Christian nation.” Religious litmus tests are not American. Separation of church and state is not up for debate. Personal piousness must not determine public policy. A woman’s body is not a man’s prerogative. A woman’s right to choose is not a man’s decision. The words “under God” were not part of the original Pledge of Allegiance.
And “justice for all” is not just a selective concept.
Perceived flattery is not a foundation for foreign policy. The U.S. and Russia are not morally equivalent. Disrespecting allies does not improve America’s world standing. Dismissing the work of intelligence agencies does not make us safer. A free press is not the enemy of the people. Judges are not to be delegitimized. Military strategy is not a political decision. The president’s tax returns are not classified materials. Giving it to your kids is not giving up business ties.
And the president is not above the law.

Do you guys ever get tired of this? This board used to be a fun place to visit. Hopefully enough people won't get tired of it because they may just save the day for your country. And actually, I think the proportion of political threads has gone down in the last week or two. I don't open them all, and you don't have to open any of them.

Thank you for posting this. It comforts me to know that there are people who are paying attention and speaking out about what is going on with this administration.

The day when people have given up or no longer care enough to post about the things the president does (ANY president) that are unacceptable is the day that you admit that the Constitution is just a piece of paper and freedom isn't worth defending.

Well said! Will people get get tired of it when Trump succeeds in becoming a dictator? Will they be tired when war breaks out? Will they get tired of no access to proper health care, services, and no scientific facts? Will they get tired of never hearing a true statement ever come from the WH? Will you be tired when they "deconstruct the government" and constitution? Will you be tired when only the wealthy survive and thrive? Come back in a year and tell me how tired you are fighting for all these things he will destroy and your country is in tatters.

Do you guys ever get tired of this? This board used to be a fun place to visit. No, actually, I don't get tired of standing up for what I believe in or working to make my country a better place. Thanks for your concern. If you don't possess the personal maturity to pass up threads that don't interest you and the board is no longer "a fun place" for you, then I suggest you seek out other forms of entertainment rather than trying to shame us for discussing what we feel is important. I think that the fact that these kinds of threads haven't died down yet ought to tell you something. People bring to this board what is important to them.

Do you guys ever get tired of this? This board used to be a fun place to visit. Yes, I do get tired of it. I wish Trump would give us all a break and let us rest up some. But, since he isn't inclined to do so, I will muster my strength and carry on.

I don't open them all, and you don't have to open any of them. How can you make snarky, that's shown 'em remarks if you don't open them though? Here's a less than novel idea for the whiners, start your own 'fun' threads if you can't find any.

I don't post on many of the political posts but I do read them and find them really informative. So much so that I was able to have a great chat with an American lady here in the UK during the week.
My payback for all the info shared is to start other types of threads to balance out the topics. Maybe more people need to do the same.

Do you guys ever get tired of this? This board used to be a fun place to visit. I feel about threads that have to do about one's medical issues as you do about political threads. I personally don't believe they belong here. But it's open board, there here and that is the way it is. And I have not opened one. I just scroll on by. No biggie. But I wonder why is it so hard for you and others to ignore these threads? Lack of will power? Or maybe It's because you and others want these threads gone because "you" don't like them and because you can't get it done you and others feel the need to whine. Maybe I should follow your and other's lead and start popping in on the diagnose me threads and post "Why are you starting this thread? It's because of these types of threads this isn't a fun place to visit anymore". But I won't because I understand we all have different interests and will continue to scroll on by.

Do you guys ever get tired of this? This board used to be a fun place to visit. Tired? You seem to be laboring under the misapprehension that Democracy protects itself, absent of those who have the will and tenacity to fight for it. The right you have to skip over political threads and concentrate on the fun ones is brought to you by this thing called free will. If I were you I would exercise it while you still have it.

Do you guys ever get tired of this? This board used to be a fun place to visit. Do you mean are we tired of standing up for our human rights and where we see egregious harm being doing to others. Then nope. Do you mean are we tired of watching a very unpresidential, unfit man destroying what our immigrant ancestors built up in this country, as well as watching him tell lie after lie on a daily basis! Then yep.

Thank you papercrafteradvocate for sharing this summation. I too will be sharing it on my feed.
and to SabrinaM - i find these threads thought provoking and informative and appreciate every one. We are sharing information and sources. The threads this past week to 10 days have been logical and sourced. To me there is more value in these political threads than those regarding dinner plans and diagnose me threads. I choose which threads are worth reading (to me) and which (to me) are worth skipping. It is called free choice. Something to take advantage of while it exists.
Freedom is not free.

It seems that lately, I only click on the "Red Labeled" threads. I just cannot believe what is becoming of our nation. Each day, it's an OMG, WTH, he did that??. I am tired! Tired of him. Tired of his EO's. Tired of his staff. Tired of his cabinet picks. Tired of the wrecking ball he's swinging.
Thanks for sharing a very well-thought, well-written summation.

You know that game "Never Did I Ever" ? Well that is how I feel these days and seem to say those words often. Never did I ever___________. 1. think that I would also be following the "red labeled" threads closer than others. 2. find myself feeling the urge need to get up and protest, write letters, make phone calls, join twiiter... 3. google images of a rally/protest and see so many people of so many ages, colors, backgrounds, religions etc doing the same thing! that's the first 3 that popped into my headed. I could go on. And on. ETA oh papercrafteradvocate thank you for original OP. The only thing I don't like about the term NotMyPres is people that assume that is to be taken literally. Yes, we know he is. We don't like it. That's the point. I could do without the obvious and uninspired replies of "whiny-snowflake-we-won-this-is why-we-did-get-over-it"! But, I guess that's on them for not being able to understand NMP is not a literal statement.

Scroll on by, as I do on Facebook query threads, which are pretty common. Costco or other USA store threads. Kids and college. None of which are shaping our world right now. I hope you made your feelings known on the most recent sticky, BTW, even if it wasn't a fun thread. That was the appropriate place for your view.
