Viola Davis' Oscar speech - as soon as I heard it I said, "This is for all the heritage scrapbookers and genealogist peas!
" You know there's one place that all the people with the greatest potential are gathered. One place and that's the graveyard. People ask me all the time, "What kind of stories do you want to tell?" And I say, "Exhume those bodies. Exhume those stories. The stories of the people who dreamed big and never saw those dreams to fruition. People who fell in love and lost. I became an artist - and thank God I did - because we are the only profession that celebrates what it means to live a life."
So are there any special quotes that inspire you in your scrapbooking and story preservation?
*Edited: some people have told me (not on this board) that they see this quote as arrogant but I am posting it just for the aspect of telling stories, not because I believe that artists are the only profession that celebrates what it means to live a life.

Love that myboysnme! It's so true. Having photographs to flip through is a treasure on it's own but when there's a story to go with them it makes it priceless to me.

I want to leave a faith legacy. I am recording my faith stories in a journal. I do keep a Pinterest board of inspirational words. I use those or Scripture on pretty much everything I create. Here is a sample of one page. I pray my girls cherish it someday and the generations to come.

I do the same as Patter, except the other way. When did I stop believing and why. It's been very helpful.

I often think of the quote from Mr. Carson in Downton Abbey:
The business of life is the acquisition of memories. In the end, that's all there is.
At some point I want to use it as a title page in an album.

I really love the Mr. Carson quote. I am a huge Downton fan I can't believe I missed that one or it didn't register. Thank you for sharing it again infochickmyboysnme I understood what Viola is saying and I don't find it arrogant. She had Oscar nerves. I bet if most of us won a prestigious award such as an Oscar we would say beautiful things that would be taken out of context. I definitely know I would. Sorry people told you they thought it was arrogant. Here's one of my favorite history quotes- If you didn't know history, you didn't know anything. You were a leaf that didn't know it was part of a tree. -Timeline Michael Crichton
