Chocolate Candy. It is my one true vice, and is probably the thing that is holding me back from losing any weight. I have given it up before and done fine without it, but currently, I am somewhat obsessed, so it has to go!

I could get on board with the vacuuming but sex? No way! I thought about giving up chocolate but then I had a serious word with myself. Save

i'm giving up complaining and nagging, and bitching
hopefully it sticks beyond 40 days
i figure it will improve my life...and the lives of those that surround me
if you catch me - feel free to call me out on it

Negativity and self pity. I am going to find a way to be positive in someone else's life every day. Whether that be a kind word, a small gift, or some kind of help.

Negativity. I am going to find a way to be positive in someone else's life every day. Whether that be a kind word, a small gift, or some kind of help. I did that last year - it was great and carried forward after Lent - very positive thing to do!! This year, I'm not giving up anything but our church has a daily Lenten devotional. Each day, I am not just reading the suggested scripture, but I am hand-writing it out and focusing on it more clearly - spending quiet time in the Word each morning.

I no longer affiliate with the Catholic Church, so I've given up all that nonsense forever! And with that, I think it's time to dip the cake pops I made this afternoon for my DD who is stuck home sick with strep, missing out on Dr. Seuss' birthday celebration today in class and STEM night at school. Poor kid!

I'm currently on Day 4 of Whole 30 so I've pretty much given up everything good in life. lol
But that will end 3/28. I'm going to stick with no candy (at a minimum) through lent.

I received ashes yesterday for the first time, in a long time. I'm pretty much a Holy Day Only, or when I need prayers big time Catholic. Going to church on Ash Wednesday is something I did for me, to feel more spiritual, etc. Years ago I gave up meat on Fridays in Lent and usually kept it up for months after. This year I am doing it for my own reasons and I am not going to be announcing it to *everyone* that I don't eat meat on Fridays, you know, making me much holier than you. Which pretty much, defeats the Christian reasoning behind my actions. So not eating meat is the easy part, keeping my mouth shut about will not be.
Ha !!!!! I already did it. 😬

1. Giving up all added sugar foods. I will still eat naturally occurring sugar that are in fruits etc., but no desserts, treats, or anything that has obvious sugar in it.
2. exercise 4-5 days/ week
3. work on my potty mouth--BTW, I have failed MISERABLY with this already. Sigh...It's a work in progress I guess.

No chocolate. I may die. Seriously.
And I'm following a suggestion from The Minimalists to gather something for donation, to sell or to trash for each day of Lent.

Sweets, unnecessary spending, Facebook. Also spending less time online. I'll also do some service projects and practice holding my tongue and being a better listener.

3 things. 1. I'm not giving anything up. I'm adding something. First of all a background explanation. Somehow with my memory loss problems I started taking half of the amount of the special B12 supplement I'm supposed to be taking for my MTHFR gene problem. I'm supposed to take 2 pills and I started taking 1 by mistake. I have no idea how long the mistake went on, but my depression started coming back. Once I noticed it I asked my Integrative Doctor the correct amount and he told me 2 pills so I corrected it. I'm slowly starting to feel better. In the meantime I've stopped cooking for my family. Not a big deal for most families but we are vegan-whole foods, plant based (at least DH and I are) and we can't just order in a pizza or any fast food. DH, DS and I have been fixing our own dinners and so far things have been fine-no one is complaining at all. But I miss cooking for them. So for Lent I want to go back to cooking dinner every night, well at least most nights. OK, I'll start with some nights and work my way up. 2. I want to clean out my closet and pack up all of the clothes that don't fit me anymore and give them away. It's time. I have clothes in that closet from size S to XL (18). It's from when I was yo-yoing in my weight so much in the past. Thanks to the whole foods plant based diet I've been at my goal weight I think for over a year now. I'm going to let all of the clothes that don't fit go to thrift stores and the really good ones I'll sell on Ebay. The ones with tags. There really aren't that many of those. I was going to hang on to them just in case but it's time to let them go and let someone else less fortunate get use out of them. Oh, and while I'm at it I have lots of clothes in the attic from when DS was growing up that I can take to thrift stores too including a whole basket of shoes. Will have to go through and sort them and see which ones are still good. I'm also going to look up those Planet something metal boxes and see where the donations to those go. Does anyone know. I will not be donating to Goodwill. 3. I want to go back to Mass. I admit I've been a lapsed Catholic. I believe in my heart and I love the new Pope. I just haven't been attending. Last time I went to the same Mass at the same church I usually go it felt really cold. The music was really terrible and I don't mean to sound petty but music means a lot to me. This is the church in downtown Annapolis, MD. It is old and gorgeous. We have 5 different times we can attend Mass on a Sunday. I know I should choose a different time for Mass and try that. The church is 12 minutes from my home. The nearest Catholic church other than this is probably 20 or more miles away.

I'm not actually religious, and I haven't observed Lent in years and years, but I decided this year to give up McD's. I know that sounds kind of silly but it's actually a lot harder for me to give up than a lot of things. I mainly get oatmeal and a drink, but there are of course days that I'm getting fries, etc.
I'm working on a "health contract" for one of my classes right now and my plan includes healthy eating.
I'm actually doing better at this challenge thinking of it as something I gave up for Lent than I would be if I was simply saying "I'm on a diet", so I'm happy I said it. 40 days without McD's is going to be difficult. First world problem, I know.

I'm currently on Day 4 of Whole 30 so I've pretty much given up everything good in life. lol I hear you. We started Whole 30 on March 1st so we're on day 10 now. It's getting easier. Even when I was religious, I never chose to give anything up for lent. Now I certainly don't.

Then I read when you started and looked at the calendar and realized I'm on day 12! Woot! (I'm on a work trip and my days all run together! Next week is 7 days on the road. Yikes!)
