A scrapping friend of mine passed away recently. In her will she left instructions for another scrapper (who was also her neighbor) and me to go through her stash. Her adult children have until the end of the month to clear out the rental she was in. They are in the process of boxing everything up and taking it to the other scrapper. The other scrapper has already taken in an SUV full of stuff with 2-3 more loads to come. I don't think either one of us want much of what our friend had since our scrappy styles are different. Some of the things found so far: 4 printers a box of photo paper a box of ribbon a Cricut a Pazzles Inspiration (not used very much if at all) assorted page kits boxes of embellishments wire racks for paper miscellaneous cardstock and paper
My question is what do we do with everything. We have mentioned selling it, yard sale, consignment (we have a local LSS that does consignments), giving it to schools or the library. Neither of us have been on this board long enough to sell on here. Any suggestions are welcome.

I would have a garage sale and then donate the profits to a charity she would like. My second choice would be to donate to an after school program or church that could use the items with kids.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
I would probably look at consigning it (at least the newer or higher ticket items) and then try donating it. Keep posting here and you'll soon get enough posts to access the sale/trade board

I knew I was about 20 posts away. I posted fairly regularly on the old 2peas board. I just told found this site a couple of months ago. I'll try to think of some more things to post about.

I hope you post here regularly too - I was a lurker on the old board for about 10 years (had 500-ish post total) but this forum is a bit friendlier and I think I've found my niche

I am so sorry for your loss. I would look into donating it to a local organization, school, or charity. I know my sons' school would love the die cutting machine, paper, ribbon, etc.

I've told my DS, only half joking, that my scrap stash is his legacy and to NOT throw anything away until he checks with a couple of friends! Have a garage sale - advertised specifically as what it is, an estate sale of a scrap and craft room --- I'd bet that you would have a bunch of takers creating some cash for the estate!

So sorry for your loss of a friend.
Do you have space to store this for awhile? Sometimes it helps to put off disposal of things like this until you are really ready. Her style may be different from yours, but there still may be some things that you can use that really remind you of her.
Are her kids interested in ANY of this? You might want to store this for a few months and then go through it with any of them that are interested. Can you finish any scrapbooks that she started for them, using her supplies?
Direct selling to scrappers sounds like a good idea, through this board or the LSS garage sale. I am thinking the equipment will sell more easily than the supplies?

travelscrapper2 Welcome to the new and improved board! I hope you'll stay and join us often. I think I'd check with my local elementary school and donate what I could. I know my sister that is an elementary school teacher uses her Cricut. My neighbor is a school secretary and said her elementary school would gladly take my purged paper. I am sorry for your loss. It's tough to lose a friend.

I'm sorry for your loss.
I'll echo what others have said. Direct selling to other scrappers would probably be easiest, especially for the bigger ticket items.

Sorry for your loss. You've had some good suggestions. I'd maybe try and sell a few bigger ticket items but donate the rest, or have a garage sale.

I think we have come up with a plan. The town my two scrapping friends live in has a community wide yard sale in May. I've been told people come from out of town to shop at it. Our plan is to sell Katrina's scrapbooking stuff at the yard sale and donate the proceeds to a cause she would have supported.
I'll probably start another thread about prices to charge.
Thanks everyone.

I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. My BFF's mom is doing the same thing, BFF and I have been designated to go through her stuff when she passes and she has A LOT. She said her DH has NO idea what she's spent on all of it and she's afraid he would box it all up and dump it at Goodwill without a second thought.
