I have recently been getting a message on my laptop that says that my start up disc is full. Even after emptying my trash and starting to delete duplicate photos, I haven't made much of a dent.
After checking on the storage of my laptop, I've discovered that I have just under 100GB of "Other" saved and I suspect the bulk of it is Silhouette images.
Does anyone store their images on another type of device such as an EHD or SD card, or similar? If you do, can you still see a thumbnail of the image in your library without having the external source plugged into your laptop?
I've read the Cameo Sticky and there was a link on how to back up the library but not on if the library itself can be stored off the laptop.
Any help is appreciated!
(Or if you have other ideas as to what is hiding in my Other storage, I'm all ears!)
Thanks!

I have over 5,000 Cameo files. They are not taking up much space on my computer.
Photos, on the other hand, take up a huge amount of space. Over time, the amount they take on my computer is huge. I keep only more recent photos on my computer and back up all the other photos to multiple external drives.
One other thing to check is your "trash" because it still takes up room on your computer until you "empty the trash" (but make sure there is nothing there that should not be, because that will truly clear them from the computer). So if you deleted the duplicates, but did not empty the trash folder, they still take up room on your computer. That could be the "other" 100 GB, or at least a chunk of it.

Thanks for your response! I have 98.something GB of photos and just under 100 of Other. Where I look for this info lists them separately. (I have a Mac. My son told me to look under the Apple icon where it says Storage.) When I first got the message, I immediately thought that my photos were the culprit, but I was surprised to find that the Other was so large. I emptied the trash this morning, and then again after I deleted more things today. It's frustrating, but the things I deleted today barely made a dent!!

natlhol have you checked your downloads folder to see how many large files are sitting there. The 'other' category can also include system files and caches, plus zip files, PDFs etc.

The 'other' category can also include system files and caches, plus zip files, PDFs etc. I wouldn't even begin to know what I can delete from that! Nothing makes me feel stupider faster than the computer. And I do a lot on it! I feel comfortable with Photoshop, Silhouette software, so many things, but once we get into this kind of thing, I just don't have much of a knowledge base. Thanks for the suggestion, though. I'll look and see if anything obvious jumps out at me. My son is coming home in a few weeks and said he'd help me. I'd ask my husband, but he just kind of takes over. My son tries to teach me at least! I think I may have some old PDFs from when Big Picture was transferring to their new site. I can move them to an EHD. I wonder if that will help? Thanks again!
