My legs are dry and itchy during the winter ( more itchy then dry) I use aquaphor on them as soon as I get out of the shower. it helps me. it comes in a jar not a tube. it is more like Vaseline, but I dont think it's as thick. It's the only thing I can use to stop the itching. The rest of the yr I use Coconut Oil.

I went to the dermatologist last week. She recommended Cerave. You can get it at Walmart. It works fantastic!

I got a sample of Amalactin in my Walmart beauty box and it's amazing stuff! It doesn't smell very good at all, but I don't care, it totally works! It has alpha hydroxy in it I think, and it just has cured my dry legs! They sell it at Costco in a big bottle and it's not cheap (I think it was like $17) but oy..read the reviews on Costco, very impressive!
<ed to add, it has urea in it>>

I have been using Eucerin skin calming lotion, but I am finding it's not doing a great job. It's been a dry winter here in MN. great thread, so will follow.

Gold Bond in the green pump bottle. it's hard to find it now so i just buy a bunch from Amazon. it works really well to sooth the skin and it has Menthol to add a bit of cooling while giving relief. i've used it for years.

When ds went to the dermatologist, we were given several samples of lotions that they recommended. Our favorites are Cerave and Vanicream.

I like the Aveeno stuff but it's expensive so when I can't afford it I do like the St Ives stuff. I've also used their foot scrubs and that does help a lot too to keep them soft. Here they dry out easy. Especially if I've been swimming or outside alot. I really like the St. Ives stuff. I don't like the oliy ones.

I used to use Aqua Care lotion on DS, recommended by his pediatrician, for excema. The urea is a key ingredient for certain skin conditions.
Costco carried it, but you had to ask at the pharmacy counter. If they don't carry it, they might be able to special order it. It's a great foot lotion, too. Now that you remind me, I'll have to look for it again.

My SO has horribly dry skin in the winter time. He uses Hempz lotion and Eucerin and they both work well. The Hempz lotion has a really light masculine scent that smells GOOD! The Eucerin is pretty thick but it gives him relief!

I am a huge fan of Udderly Smooth. Absorbs well, isn't sticky, not scented. Comes in a big tub or a small tube. Inexpensive.

Anyone have a lotion that works for their dry, itchy skin?
Thanks! We used coconut oil when my dad was doing chemo. It soaked in nicely and we didn't have to worry about further side effects. He was so sensitive to everything after starting chemo.

I'm going to try Gold Bond. My anxiety meds make me have ultimate night sweats and in turn, my skin is so very itchy in certain areas. Mostly under my arms and boobs. I tried hydra cortisone cream but it's not doing a damn thing. Aloe Vera works but wears off. I need something really good.
Coconut oil I have on hand..may try that tonight.

I think that heel balm people recommend here has urea in it. I cannot remember the name, though. I remember looking at it in the store and remember that ingredient as unusual. Heel Crack cream, maybe?

Heel Crack cream, maybe? Flexitol. And, yes, it does have urea in it. Any lotion you get with urea, lactic acid or alpha hydroxy has the potential to sting a bit when you first use it and until the skin is healed a bit. Urea helps the skin hold moisture and restore the suppleness of the skin. When my eczema flares, I like Eucerin Professional Repair Concentrated Lotion for extremely dry skin. I get it at Ulta, Walgreens or Amazon (depends on where I am when I need a bottle).

I use this too, but I use Walmart's "Equate" brand - the generic version. The cooling menthol helps with the itching

I use Aquaphor but an even better cream is Palmer's Coco Butter. It comes in a jar and smells heavenly. WalMart sells it and it is inexpensive. I have a patch of dermatitis/ eczema/psoriasis on my thigh and the Palmer's keeps it in check. Good for chapped lips too.

My skin is so itchy fall-spring I have to literally take an anti-itch prescription medicine.
My favorites are the Aveeno Baby Eczema line Coconut oil
You might also have him check to see if he can take a phytoceramide supplement.
