I'd be curious to know the connection between those that are clothes conscious and whether one is an introvert or extrovert. I'm an introvert and do not like to be the center of attention. Standing out and having people comment on my clothing, no thank you. I'm an extreme introvert. But I love getting attention for my clothes. For me, being an introvert has more to do with whether I am drained by social interactions, I would love to see pictures of some of your coordinated outfits. Even if you don't want to appear in them, just the outfit with the accessories, right down to your drinking cup.

Standing out and having people comment on my clothing, no thank you. Same for me. So between that and my activities, my style of dress is very low key and casual. I'm always clean and presented well. But I don't go for show or any type of attention. Which is also probably why I prefer to show my dog in obedience instead of conformation (think Westminster running around in a dress/skirt and flats).

I'm an introvert but also an artist/musician. I don't do classic much. I love color and prints and texture and layers. I love a lot of the southern boutique styles, but wear them carefully - because I am bigger, one wild piece balanced with a more conservative one usually works well. Tailored tops/jackets look terrible on me. Flowy and drape-y top with a defined waist or bias cut, and then some kind of slim pants, is my go-to.
I limit jewelry to one statement piece and keep everything else pretty small. I like unusual jewelry but also wear some Kendra Scott. I like bling but in one focused place.
I try to balance cute and comfortable with my shoes. But a lot of the things I think are cute get called ugly here. Oh well!
I like clothes and fashion, but I'm also not above going to the grocery store in my black yoga pants and t-shirt. I dress for me and don't care what others think.

I think it's absolutely possible to be comfortable and cute and I hate it when people use comfort as an excuse to just give up. I have always been slim and fairly tall and worked in offices/attended various social functions so I did like looking nice. I was never super-cutting edge, but found it easy enough to find things that flattered me and were comfortable. as I have passed my mid-40s, I have gained about 16 lbs. I have never been so frustrated with clothes. I now work from home which in some ways has been worse for me.... since I am not forced to make an effort! I wouldn't say I have given up, just have a very small few things I fall back on regularly that make me feel stylish(-ish). I have never been big on bright colours, I prefer simple lines and don't much in the way of accessories, jewelry or match nail polish or make-up to my outfits. I just don't have the eye for it and don't even wear my engagement ring/wedding band any longer as that even seems to fussy for me.

Well, after losing a bunch of weight (70ish lbs) the ladies at my bootcamp donated a heap of clothes to me so I don't have to be naked so I wear whats free. I don't really know what my style is. Free? lol. I used to wear big baggy black clothes because I was hiding away. I'm not that person anymore. In my downtime from work I wear my activewear everywhere. The movies. Dinner etc. So do most of my friends. The only thing I spend money on is my running shoes. I have eight pairs and they cost $280 each. I wear sweats that cost $12 because I don't care what I look like working out, only that my feet get the best support.

I pretty much wear jeans every day, I think at this point more out of habit than anything. I love a good statement jacket and have *cough* one or two, my favourite is a grey silk kimono style one with gold embroidery that I bought years ago. For me a good jacket is everything. I love clothes, shoes, bags but I'm not hugely into jewellery, after working in a retail environment that insisted on between 5 and 15 pieces being worn every day it got a little old. I'm an introvert but I love being complimented on my clothes.

Gonna weigh in about the shoe thing...it was me that asked originally. I am still looking. I am not so much a fan of what is generally considered 'comfort shoes' and that tends to be most of the flat shoes out there. And I am not all that fond of most shoes in the stores because they are either too trendy (and totally uncomfortable) or really comfortable and look like ca-ca-poo-poo. As for my actual fashion style, my friend calls it funky librarian. I have never met a sweater set I didn't like, I adore a good pencil skirt, and think that a mary jane pump is the bees knees. These days, my new job is a lot less dressy, so I tend to wear ankle length pants, sweater sets, and we are still working on shoes. I do not like scarves. Not one single bit-on me at least. I live where it gets a little warm and scarves just don't work in typical Florida weather. I tend to use jewelry as my thing and have a huge collection of arty stuff, vintage stuff and really nice, expensive stuff. The funny thing though? I also like this new trend with all the lacy bits. It appeals to the 6 year old me that secretly still wants to be a fairy princess. I try to keep that one in check though-otherwise I would end up in a tutu every day. I am not a fashiony kind of girl, beyond finally figuring out what silhouettes and colors look good one me and generally end up with more of classic styling. I am 50 and have also gotten to the point that I have decided that as long as the bits and bobs are covered, I don't particularly care if something is 'too young' for me. I am not going to wear what people think 'older' women should wear, so I say f*ck 'em if they want to judge.

I learned a long time ago that no matter what you wear not everybody is going to like it, so you should always wear what you want to wear and don't even consider whether others will like it. I have always designed and sewn most of my own clothes since I was a teenager. Mainly because I can never find what I see in my mind so it is just easier to make what I want. I never wanted to wear what is the latest style. I like to be ahead of the latest trend. By the time everyone is wearing it I want to be on to something else. I started making my hems on my shirts and jackets asymmetrical/ pointed twenty years ago and people used to ask me where I bought them. I once made a pencil skirt out of my bathroom curtains because the fabric was perfect with a top that I had and I had an event to go to. I like simple lines, lots of color and once in a while a bold print. I like clothes that flow. I have a lot of fun with my clothes. I don't wear things for anyone but me. I'm retired and old now and I don't put nearly as much effort into clothes as I used to. I try not to have to get dressed these days.

The outfit I wore to school today: black pants, black ankle boots, a black and white patterned long sleeve tee, and a long black cardigan, black, white and black-and-white beaded bracelets, my ring set and my Apple Watch with a black band.
I wear black pants or dark black jeans most of the time, but will also wear gray pants or jeans, navy pants and occasionally brown pants or jeans. I usually wear a tee of some kind or another easy top and then a cardigan, V-neck sweater, jacket or something like that on top. On Wednesdays we can wear "spirit wear" with our regular pants so I often do that. Fridays are jeans days and we can wear blue jeans, with or without spirit wear; I often do nicer things to go with the jeans, but do wear a t-shirt or hoodie on some days.
At home, I'm usually in sweats or yoga pants or leggings with a long shirt. Most of the time I'll put on jeans if I leave the house, but I admit to running to the store in leggings or yoga pants occasionally. When it's warmer, the yoga pants or leggings may be capri length.
I do wear a ton of black, but I think black looks great with white and a pop of color, by itself with a color pop, and goes with most other colors. It also makes it easier to just start with black pants and add the other layers.

Being neat and clean but not into fashion does not mean you've 'given up' as some seem to think. I have at some times had no use for fashion related effort whatsoever. Such as when I was postpartum and had not yet returned to regular clothes, and at times when I have been quite ill. I understand what giving up looks like and have certainly done so at times, however my current take on fashion is quite different. Today I select items that are clean and attractive and wear them without particular fanfare, I don't care whether I receive compliments or not as my purpose in life is not to be stylish. My clothes are correct for my work and are in good repair and clean and fit well, I am unlikely to be mistaken for a fashion blogger but I make effort, my own effort and not effort same as someone else. Because after all we are not all the same person.

What do you wear on a daily basis? I work long hours, travel and when not traveling am on my feet 8 + hours a day. My work environment is business professional. I wear tailored suits every day in conservative colors, black, brown, navy with a jersey or button down shirt.
Weekends: fitted jeans, or long shorts, long sleeve shirts and Converse or Vans. Around the house after work - sweatpants and tee shirt.
What is your style? Kind of conservative.
Do you like fashion? Yes but not a priority due to time constraints.
Do you enjoy clothes? Yes, but again, don't have tons of time to invest in planning and pursuing outfits. I invest in high quality clothing that fit well. Have tailored if needed and will wear for a couple years.
How much effort do you put into your outfits? Not much, just clean and not clash colors. It is kind of like wearing a uniform - pick a suit, shirt, right color shoes and end of story. Business Garanimals.
Do you accessorize? I have a very nice watch I wear to work but not usually on weekend. I wear my apple watch in more casual settings. That is it for accessories.

In the cold shoulder thread multiple peas said things along the lines of "I take pea fashion opinions with a grain of salt." Perhaps because this group is worldwide, with such a large variety of geographic areas, ages, and income types, there just isn't any one good answer to a question about something so personal as fashion?? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I mean, I don't personally like the 'cold shoulder' trend (BTW- that's a stupid name, in my opinion) but that's because in AZ, I'd get a really awkward-looking tan line if I was outside, and inside with the A/C, I'd freeze to death if I wore a top like that. I would call myself a 'classic' dresser most of the time; I avoid trends for the most part. In my day to day life, I wear business casual or casual clothes; my job doesn't require me to dress up. I like reading fashion magazines occasionally but I don't pay attention to 'fashion' or trends when putting together my own wardrobe, nor do I like spending a lot of $$ on clothes. I'm a thrift-store, estate-sale, consignment store clothing shopper. Because of that, my clothing tastes / likes can be pretty eclectic. And I'm at a point in my life where I don't care too much about 'fashion' or trends, or what other people think of my tastes in clothing.

Well I like both the cold shoulder tops and the 3/4 shirts with roll up sleeves, so I haven't poo-pooed anything lately. As to what I wear - In the last 15 years I have gone from a size 8 (US 4) to a 12-14 (US 8-10) so I mainly wear clothes that hide my flaws (ie. mainly my arse). If I were still slim I would be MUCH more stylish and fashionable! In summer I wear knee / shin length dresses to work pretty much every day. In winter I wear longer skirts with boots or plain black pants. On the weekend I wear jeans or pants. I have a lot of long cardigans that I wear all the time in winter.

I dress casually most days, I'm either at home, running errands, or out bumming around not doing anything special. Lots of long skirts with t-shirts, jeggings or leggings with long tops or short dresses (mid thigh to the top of my knees). Oversized unstructured cardigans and coats when it's cold. Flats, clogs, maryjanes, mules, sandals, flatforms, boots, or athletic-ish shoes. Crossbody bags, costume jewelry or silver/gemstone jewelry. My style is "interesting". I don't wear mainstream fashion marketed for women my age very much. I like BoHo styles, Lagenlook, indie designers, quirky, unusual, alternative, etc... I love fashion, especially independent designer fashion, alernative fashion, interesting design elements and details, and handmade clothes and acessories. I love TO design clothes as well, I have taken fashion design classes in the past and have made clothes for myself and other people. I love clothes, I love fabrics, I love lines and how garments hang and flow, I love accessories, I love color, I love texture. I'm picky about fabric, I prefer all natural or mostly natural fiber content fabrics. I can't wear anything that doesn't feel good against the skin. Most days I don't put much effort into my outfits. I have tops and bottoms that are interchangeable, and several that I have put together as sets. I know what goes with what and it doesn't take a lot of time or effort to get an outfit together, it's pretty much a done deal, I just have to get it all out and put it on. I do accessorize, but only when I'm going out and doing more than the grocery shopping. I have a lot of costume, gemstone, bead, and casual handcrafted jewelry. When it's cold I have a bunch of scarves, cowls, and hats. I'm not really into designer leather/pleather bags, but I have a lot of plain and patterned crossbody bags to pick from. Tons of cheap fun sunglasses, at least a few dozen pair. I'm starting to get into more fun shoes. Colorful clogs and sandals.

Daily I don't have a lot of fashion, I tend to find something I like and but it in every color. When I go out I like to dress in 50s style skirts or dresses and lately I'll even so the full hair and makeup. Interestingly I can do full hair and makeup but I always get the same amount of compliments on clothes and I get the most when my kids and husband and complimentary, e.g. All wearing same Hawaiian print or at Christmas my kids were in Santa and elf outfits and dh and I had matching ugly sweater suit and dress. So if I throw on red lip stick I get about as much comments as with a full face and hair, although I do enjoy doing the full gave and hair when I have the time :-)

I didn't answer the cold shoulder thread but I actual think some of that style I've seen in stores is really cute and been bummed that I couldn't wear them A) I seriously hate my arms B) they wouldn't be appropriately for work and I try to buy pieces to mix and match for work, casual, and going out
What do you wear on a daily basis? I work in a professional office but it is still pretty casual. My daily work wear September through April is jeans, boots, cute top, and some type of cardigan. Sometimes I replace the top/sweater with a nice flow shirt. What is your style? causal but put together and cute. Not classic, not trendy, don't really know how to describe!
And some follow up questions to my big main question - Do you like fashion? Actual high fashion like in magazines? No. Actual clothes buying and trying different things - yes. Do you enjoy clothes? YES How much effort do you put into your outfits? Not too much I guess in my opinion but I would never wear a sweatshirt to work although some people do. I have a staging area set up in the closet to plan outfits for the week in case I get up and can't think of what to wear. Do you accessorize? Scarves yes. Necklaces yes. I like bracelets but they just get in the way at work and earnings start bugging my ears and bother me when I'm on the phone.

I'd say I dress similar to this, only sandals, or ankle boots, instead of flats. I would also wear knee high boots during the Fall and Winter. I do accessorize with costume jewelry. I buy most of my clothes from places like Maurice's, White House Black Market, New York & Co. Eddie Bauer, and local boutiques...throwing a little Target and Old Navy in there.

I wear lots of Jcrew, Banana Republic, Loft, Nordstrom and some Talbots.
I own my own antique store, so when I am working on store stuff, I am in jeans and a t-shirt.
If I am at home, I am in leggings and a long shirt.
In the winter, skinny jeans, tall boots and a button down shirt.
The only colors in my closet are black, tan, navy, cream and coral. I do not like wild patterns. I love sandals of any type, but (gasp) flip-flops are my hands down favorite.I like being able to coordinate everything, easily.
I tend to be very simple, in a classic way (if that makes sense). I don't wear a bunch of jewelry, but the jewelry I do wear is very classic.
I am an introvert.

I own 4 gray cotton cardigans. Does that tell you anything about my style? True story: I was monitoring students in an assembly about a month ago, and at one point every female teacher in the room was wearing a duster-length gray cardigan, including me. There were 5-6 of us. Teacher style is a thing. My husband says we all dress alike.

This is sort of a SO of the cold shoulder thread, but also a lot of other threads. In the cold shoulder thread multiple peas said things along the lines of "I take pea fashion opinions with a grain of salt." I've noticed that in any thread about new trends or current fashion, the peas poo poo everything. I don't think I've ever seen a thread where the peas liked a style. So my question is What DO the peas wear? What do you wear on a daily basis? What is your style? And some follow up questions to my big main question - Do you like fashion? Do you enjoy clothes? How much effort do you put into your outfits? Do you accessorize? I go to white house black market and wear what they tell me to. I hate putting outfits together. I'm either in leggings and a tshirt or semi dressed up. I can't do casual to save my life.

myshelly Have you ever thought about becoming a personal stylist to people? I think you would be really good at that I do often take friends shopping to style them for specific events. Or friends send me pictures of things they like from boutiques and ask me if I can source them cheaper (95% of the time I can).

I should admit that I wear leggings and tshirts 50% of the time, scrubs 25% of the time, pajama pants 12.5% of the time, and dressier but still casual about 12.5% of the time. I like clothes I guess, but I just don't care that much. However, my hair, nails, and makeup are always on point if I'm going to work, an appointment, or somewhere where people know me. Ok, actually my nails are always on point, lol. Just running to the store, I don't care and will show up in sweatpants, glasses, and hair piled on top of head. Once long ago I was more vain and had too much pride to appear in public like that, but now that I'm older I actually enjoy being able to become anonymous, almost invisible, when I want to. It's like I'm two different people.

When I'm dressed down, people reach over me, ignore me, etc. When I'm fully done up it's a lot different. People make eye contact and are more conscious of me. They address me more respectfully and seem to listen better when I'm talking, which is annoying in theory. I think when women enter middle age (I'm 45) they start to become invisible to others unless they aim to stand out. I like having the option to do both, personally. It's kind of fun slipping under the radar sometimes.

I don't hate all the fashions and trends shown, I actually enjoy seeing/reading about these. I am sometimes amazed by how critical people are of what other people wear. I am a firm believer of not judging people based on their appearance, whether it is what they are wearing when they have to run out to the store or what they are wearing to the Ball. That does not mean that I don't notice things or think wow I wouldn't wear that, but I truly don't care or don't think the worst about that person. My wardrobe, however, would cause many of you to shake your head though and probably giggle a little. Especially now that I no longer work a management position in the banking industry. I pretty much wear the same thing every day. Jeans, Eddie Bauer v-neck tee shirts (short sleeve or long), a fleece vest of sorts and fleece socks if am wearing shoes/boots and not Tevas/sandals. Pretty boring actually... but it is what I like and am comfortable in.
