Has anyone attended these events recently? Planning a 4 day trip to WDW in late Sept. Can anyone give me any info, or your experiences with either of these events? Are we over reaching to try and do both of these AND see the new Avatar part of AK in such a short stay? There are only adults going on this trip and we only plan on doing a few favorites with FP in each park.

Food and Wine fest is set up throughout EPCOT in the International area. It looked really great but I had a child who won't eat anything so I had to breeze on by lol. There are stands set up around the "world" so to speak. Try not to fill up at your starting country though because there is good stuff at the next country probably as well! The Not so Scary Halloween I know more about! We were just there in October (when the hurricane came as well lol). You buy separate tickets for that event. You don't actually have to leave the park and go back in if you have arrived earlier in the day, you have to go to a certain area and get your armband and they give you candy goodies! There is special treats and food there on those nights- candy corn flavored cotton candy, special desserts in the bakery etc. that are not there during the day. Lines are kind of short for some rides because everyone is trick or treating or watching the parades. The parades are different that night. They have the villains and the Haunted Mansion ghouls as the main attraction during it. There is even a Villain Spectacular at the castle for a show. There are less people there than during the day or a normal night. Some restaurants are closed so watch out for that.If you "need" candy there are special areas set up to trick or treat at and they do not scrimp on the hand outs! I enjoyed it as an adult because it was something different that I hadn't experienced ever on a Disney trip. You could do AK during the day and Halloween at night at MK if you are worried about timing I suppose.

Well, Food and Wine is kiosks all around the world pavilions in Epcot and very crowded. I have been there during Food and Wine and if you want to go or not depends on if food is a priority on your trip. The food is amazing, but if you only have 4 days I would concentrate more on rides and parades and other things I can only do in WDW. It is easy enough to get snacks from there, but for me eating at every kiosk is not a huge draw. And I am too cheap to drink there. I think the Halloween Party is amazing, but I love Halloween and the parade alone makes that event for me. I usually watch it twice. The fireworks show is special for the party and are great too. They do have characters only out for this event, but again it depends on what you guys like to do. For me, I watch the parade and fireworks during the party then go ride rides. I have gone with people who wait in line for characters, and they love that aspect. Avatar land would be something I wanted to see just because I haven't seen it before and I kind of want to see how they make that idiotic movie into something even remotely interesting. I can also see it just being a huge letdown a la Stitches Escape in Tomorrowland. But the curiosity would overcome me and I would have to see it.

I don't think this is overreaching. However, I think it's somewhat dependent on how often you go to WDW and what your other plans are. We went to food and wine and did MNSSHP last year and will be doing so again this year (this would be our year to go at Christmas time but some friends from England are going so we wanted to overlap with them). Food and Wine can be as big of a deal as you want it to be. Last year, aside from normal perusal of the fest, we did seminars, Party for the Senses and an Ultimate day tour. That said, you could just look at the festival guide and pick out a few foods you want to try. It doesn't have to be a time consuming stop. I think Avatar land is going to be great to see. I believe there are only two rides there so I don't think that will be extremely time consuming either. However, I'm sure the ride lines will be long so I'd fast pass one of those. MNSSHP is really great. The parade and the fireworks are really, really well done. I prefer the Halloween party to the Christmas party. You should decide what's important to you at the party. Are meeting characters important to you or going on rides or trick or treating? You can do a little of all it, but you can't do all of everything. Generally we don't meet characters. We'll do a little trick or treating, go on some of our favorite rides, visit the special photopass stops, get a special treat, watch the fireworks and the late parade. Also, if getting merchandise is important to you, decide on a store (check the party guide for which stores have MNSSHP stuff) and be there by 7:00. There are usually lines for the special merchandise. Even if you don't collect the sorcerers of the magic kingdom cards, pick up the party one. It's free and each person in your party can get one. Also look for the special party treats - someone already those. It's always fun getting a special treat. We generally eat before parties as there are only a few quick service restaurants open. If you don't have a ticket for Magic Kingdom that day, you can get in at 4:00 with your party ticket. Also, I'd say about half the adults are in costume. Just keep in mind October can be still be really warm

September is the best time to do the Mickey's not so scary Halloween. The earlier in September the shorter the lines. Late October the lines are so long. They also bring out alot of characters you don't ordinarily see on regular days at Disney. We take the foreign exchange students for this & they are always amazed that their are only 5 min waits. The parade is awesome too.
The Food & wine at Epcot is my fav time to go. I love all the beautiful flowers & trees cut into characters. It's a ton of walking & Epcot doesn't have many attractions. There are alot of character opportunities in each country. The lines tend to be long for the attractions they do have so fast pass them as soon as you can.

We did the Halloween party when my boys were about 8/9 & 6/7 about 4 years ago. We went over Columbus Day weekend. We dressed up and had a blast! They didn't care at all about the trick or treat stations (wasn't great candy LOL!) or the parade. It was raining for a bit so some of the characters' meet & greets had to be canceled. What we all loved was shorter lines & less people around. We walked onto all the mountain rides multiple times. During the parade time we got off one of them and immediately ran back around and got right back on. It was great!
