Shamefully, I have to say yes. Sometimes it's because I'm curious about a product. Other times, it's rather like watching The Real Housewives. I just shake my head and wonder what people are thinking. Sometimes I feel like I must look like a confused dog with its head cocked to one side going, "huh?" People are crazy at times.

Not really. I don't really care about scrap celebrities or what they do. I don't understand why people support a business they bash or know has horrible customer service. But I also don't watch reality TV shows either I will follow the misti legal stuff because I want a Tonic stamp positioner. Mostly, anyway. I peeked at the Studio Calico thread once to see what the evidently epic thread was about. Since it seemed to be mostly drama, I never went back to look again. I was frustrated with Provo Craft for awhile, so I did participate in many Cricut threads, but I have to have strong opinions of my own about a product and a company. I don't follow the drama just for the sake of the drama. At least Provo Craft has made some changes over time based on customer feedback, which has helped to soften my former attitude about them. I made my own stamp positioner. It works, but I definitely want the Tonic version. I had originally wanted to buy the MISTI, but the price and reportedly poor customer service made me hesitate. Now it's turned into a soap opera with the lawsuit, and I am totally frustrated and disgusted with My Sweet Petunia. Because her lawsuit is delaying the market of a product I want, I have taken more interest in the threads about it.

I like it for learning about bad service and attitudes of companies & designers. I wouldn't want to support a company that knowingly has shoddy products and bad customer service. But I don't find following drama where people apart are torn apart on a personal level entertaining.

I don't remember that name. Was this on the Pub board? Those women scared the crap out of me. NSBR was so tame in comparison.
It was on the scrap boards. I remember her name because she actually PM'd me pissed because I referred to her and a few others as SC fangirls. Anytime anyone said anything bad about SC she was the first handslapper. No matter how useless an item was. They could have sent her a turd in the mail and her response would have been "I could totally use this on a layout. You guys are the best!!!!! "
Hahahaha! This totally reminds me of that 2peas gallery layout with the enlargement of a diaper filled with poo with a penny sticking out of it and the actual penny in a memorabilia pocket. Was that anyone here? The SC Turd would be perfect for that page!

I'm drawn to it like a train wreck. I don't watch reality TV and have a very drama-free work and personal life. For me I think that the attacks on personal lives or appearances are unnecessary and often go too far BUT then again a lot of the people talked about display too much of their personal lives for the whole world to see IMO. Not saying I agree but naysayers come with the territory if you chose to live your life in a very public way.
I do care about companies in the industry that play the small business mommy shop card when they have issues with quality or customer service. I'm extremely vocal about it because I'm stunned at how many women make excuses for bad behaviour because "oh she is so nice." Or worse "well it's just a hobby so stop taking it so seriously" or "well the industry is dying so we have to support them". Um no. No we don't. Bad business practices are bad business practices.
We would NEVER drop our car off for repairs at Joe's Garage down the street and make excuses for him when he makes a mistake because he's just a small business and fixing cars is only his hobby. It baffles and frustrates me to see grown women dismiss very legitimate concerns. The shiny pretty people we see on Instagram are not our friends. They are making money off of each click, follower, or whatever.

Not in the least. I'm not much into regular celebrity drama either. If I don't know someone personally and I only know them by their work, it is the work I care about. I don't wish them any ill will. I just don't care.

I have to admit I like the Studio Calico thread because it is a good place to find industry news and gossip. I will say the stuff about the personal lives of scrappers isn't my thing. I've never understood the whole Teressa Collins thing (or at least I think it was her). She could have 3 husbands all at the same time for all I care.

Yes, very much I am highly entertained by drama in the scrapbooking industry. It is so fascinating to me. I love celebrity gossip too. Daily I have to check Dlisted & Cele*itchy. You know I have never read the Studio Calico thread over here. One is because there were a lot of YouTube videos about it. I got most of the ugly from that. Two the thread is now like two million pages, lol. I said this last week in a post I do think that a lot of the scrap stars act like their on Real Housewives. I am waiting for them to have a glass of champagne and a small lap dog. Then they can get into fights and pull each others weaves out, lol. Seriously, you see a lot of the scrap stars tweet the "Oh, Woe is me" They bring the drama's and then get soooo hurt when it blows up in their face. They wanted to be scrap stars. They wanted to be in the limelight and have their celebrity status. A lot of them need agents. No, I am not being mean. A lot of YouTuber's and Instagramer's have agents now too. Social Media is the new entertainment industry. Scrap stars to me are not a face any more they are a business. It does influence my purchasing decisions. If I was in their same position I would not throw my drama's on my blog. I would act like a business. I come from an entertainment family. My Father was a celebrity. He was a real person with feelings and problems. When he was working he was a professional. I guess I am a little harder on "stars" since I grew up in the industry. My Mom was a craft star billion years ago before social media. Her drama's blew up on her, she lost her fan base and she lost everything financially and the respect.

Okay I have a question... about the Studio Calico thread.. I guess I never paid any attention to it and so the OP asks if you get involved in any scrapping drama.. I haven't really... but I have read some drama.. but anyways, I thought I would see what drama is on that thread and it's close to 600 pages?? Is that right??? Is there a way to ask what is the drama?? lol
The only drama I can think of is probably in my own head.. October Afternoon not producing anything and not sure what the heck is going on with them...

Studio Calico always seemed to have horrible customer service issues, and some pretty bad product quality issues. At least that's what was going on a few years ago when I read that thread occasionally. And looking at the most recent pages of that thread, it seems like the same things are STILL going on with them.

I hate celebrity gossip and shows like "The Talk." But I do enjoy the SC thread (I did read it all when I first discovered it, many pages ago), and yes, somehow I do seem to enjoy some level of scrapbook drama. I don't like personal attacks or bickering - especially when people start going at each other and arguing on the boards. I run far away from that kind of conflict. But I love to read about how certain companies are totally inept/have horrible customer service/ripping people off. I guess I enjoy it as long as everyone agrees that company x is the worst. I would much rather read that than politics!

I enjoy "celebrity" gossip and feel no guilt. That is their business and how they make money. Anything you put in the public sphere of your business is open to public debate and criticism. I do give the side eye to the "woe is me posts". You keep telling us you are a business I expect you to act like it.

The reason I watched this video was because if Tori cancelled Studio Calico it had to be pretty bad. She was really loyal to them. Here's the link- www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIKqxUqtRVMlisacharlotte I agree about celebrity gossip. I know a lot of it is PR Stunts. Jennifer Garner/Ben Affleck drama, Beyonce drama's, Nikki Minaj beef's in the industry. You know who is good at playing the PR game and who really has problems. I noticed us celebrity gossip followers tend to be more sympathetic to celebrities who are having real issues like Britney and even Kanye. The PR celebs are usually really sweet people. They know how to play a great game and that's why they are A-lister's. Except Taylor Swift I think she needs to tone it down a bunch, lol. I will tell you who is good at the PR game in our scrap celeb world and that is Tim. He runs it professionally and gives us a hint of personal without ever crossing the line. Tim is a master. I am love him for it. ScrapCelebs do the Nikki Minaj tweet thing and then they act like it is supposed to go the way of Nikki. No, it doesn't. I have some friends in the industry. They told me their agency usually does the tweeting and dropping things to TMZ. ScrapCelebs get an agency if you want notoriety. If you want respect show us your new collection and picture of your dog if you want us to know you personally.

I am love him for it. Ugh, I love you for making the right analogies with the celebrity folks. Some are genuinely private and never ever air their dirty laundry with leaks and personal sources and whatnot, others pretend to want privacy but are more than happy to play the game when it comes to promoting their latest project or when divorce is looming and they need some sympathy. Others are constant victims in a self-fabricated world of unjust heartache after undeserved pain, yadda yadda yadda. Tim definitely is one of the better examples of great PR and good composure in the scrap celebrity world. He sells himself well without ever overdoing it. He keeps himself in check. And he's a quality products man on top of that. I really salute him for being such a good professional in this game. I can keep up with some of the drama, especially when the main protagonist is doing their share of public nonsense. Drama can be informative in that sense. You learn that company X or person Y has continuous CS or quality problems. Or that retailer Z often sends parcels with missing/wrong items and then refuses to reimburse/exchange. This forum has certainly kept me from making a few ill-advised purchases or listening to a certain someone's podcast.

I agree Tim Holtz does it right. There are 2 particular celebs that kill me when they whine about a bad comment or thumbs down on you tube. They should be above this at this point in their careers. That they actually publicize to their audience to elicit sympathy makes them look petty and thin skinned and less than professional. If they are that sensitive, maybe they should rethink this whole, "gettin' rich by putting my life and work on public display" or maybe don't read the damn comments.

Hi
I would just like to say I do not remember sending you a message but if I did then I am very sorry for that. I would like to say I did not always agree with all of the SC stuff but I chose to do my complaining in private to them, just the same as I would do in a store etc. I am assuming I messaged you as you called me a fan girl and I obviously took offence to the term.
I hope all is well in life and you are still happily scrap booking away. sorry again.

No, because it always seems to take a turn for the ugly. What starts off as industry gossip turns personal and I find no entertainment value in witnessing people being cruel to their selected target for sport and internet high-fives. I find drama distressing in general and avoid it like the plague. I've dropped entire social circles and stopped actively participating in certain interest groups to get away from it in my offline life.

I just watched this video and I think it's so sad that SC seems like they used to be such a wonderful and thriving community/site years ago and now it's just a mess. This girl seemed so genuine and honest and I honestly feel bad for her. I know what it's like to lose a srapbooking community that you put your heart and soul into so I can relate. Such a bummer.
