Elizabeth moss was on Seth Myers on monday. I only watches because I was trying to figure out if she was Zoey or not.
I skipped this thread the first time around. Should I read the book first?

I would say yes as you are a reader. The series goes way further than the book. The book intentionally leaves you wondering what comes next it does not tie up loose ends neatly. I think Margaret Attwood wanted everyone to go WTF at the end of the book. The first series also leaves you like that. But it also includes a lot more back story and even some foreshadowing. As you can tell from this thread it is a love/hate with this book.

So now that the season finale happened, what do you think?
It made me cringe, cry, raise a fist in the air for their small and large acts of resistance. The last one made all those things happens multiple times.
Wonder where the van takes June after this? Margaret Atwood will still be involved, so I'll keep watching.

I thought the finale was so well done. So many amazing/intense moments like when she was stuck in the car watching her daughter but couldn't get to her, cursing out Serena, the moment resisting stoning her friend, her other friend being greeted by her husband in Canada.
Loved it. Can't wait for next season.

I'm late to the party, but just finished this up as well. I did not read the book.
For those that have read the book - do you recommend it now that I've seen the series? Will it ruin it for me?
I hated and loved it all at the same time. Great acting by Elisabeth Moss and what a witch Serena is!

her other friend being greeted by her husband in Canada. This was probably my favorite scene of the entire season! The look on her face as she realized he considered her as "family" and she wasn't alone... it was just wonderful. Oh, and the note that June sent to her husband... "I love you. So much. Save Hannah" What more could she say that was more important than those few words?

For those that have read the book - do you recommend it now that I've seen the series? Will it ruin it for me? Just to emphasize, YES! The series would ruin the book, not the other way, oddly enough. The series takes the book as a framework and delves far deeper. My dd watched it after I did and kept asking "wait! Was that in the book?" LOL. 9/10 it was not in the book. She read it a few years ago and didn't re-read it until after she saw the series. Very excited for season 2.

DD and I just binged on the series. It was so excellent in every single way. Much better than the book, although I liked the book a lot, mostly for the unique dystopian vision it created, which was unique for its time.
Elizabeth Moss was so amazing and perfect for the role. We loved this so much. Can't wait for the next round!
