All the LSSs near me have now closed. I still have Joanns, Michaels and another regional chain (and online, of course) but it isn't the same. So on Saturday, I was in a city 2 hours away and took some time to look around a LSS. It was wonderful! I have missed seeing all the latest and greatest in real life. I bought just a few things to help them stay in business I think I need to make a trip there every six months or so; get a couple of scrappy friends and make a day of it. Do you still have access to a LSS?

No more LSS in my town. I do alot of my shopping online now, which some may say why the LSS's have closed. But I found the local one to be expensive and cluttered. The last time I was in, she was holding a crop during regular business hours and the tables took up the space and the product was pushed to the side. I couldn't find what I was looking for and the owner was busy talking to the crop attendees so I ended up at M's.

it's been a while. Both of the local ones are closed and I don't know of any within a couple of hours drive - If anyone knows of any in Florida (Orlando or Jacksonville area) please let me know.

Unfortunately, no. In May, a friend and I are making a 3 hour drive to a scrapbook expo. After we shop til we drop there, we make the short drive to a LSS. It will be my first time in a LSS in 2 years.
Online shopping is fine but I miss seeing stuff in person.

Yes I have one in my city. I like seeing things in person. I live in fear of her closing. She hosts two large crops a year and is very accommodating about ordering in things for me if it's possible .

Yes! but it's an hour away. It's a good one though, and not far off the highway I take when I visit my mom. I like to poke around and buy a few things if I can, but if I have anyone in the car with me I don't bother. They have no patience with me. freeatlast, that sounds like so much fun!

We have one about 25 minutes away. It is nice. I probably get there once a month. There are also a few in Denver that I will hit when driving through the city.

No LSS in my entire state. There is one in the next state about 2 hours away. I will be able to go there in mid May but I heard her hours are pretty spotty.
My state used to have so many that there were at least 15 within a one hour drive and 20 within a 2 hour drive - all closed now.

Yes! It's pretty small, but I visit once a month to see what all they do carry. I'm glad there is still one close by. I hope it sticks around for a long time!

Unfortunately no. My LSS is 2 hours away.. But I actually love that place! It is amazing! They have a great selection there and the employees are SO nice! I go whenever I can about 4 times a year. It's well worth the wait to go.

A Cherry On Top is just over 2 hours away from me. I'm not sure if they're open to the public all the time, but they have warehouse sales that are. I have yet to make it to one. It always conflicts with something else.

We still have two LSS. One is in my town and the and one the next town over. Both are rather small. There is one about 60 miles from me that I always go to when I mail my Christmas cards from Santa Claus, IN. My go to store is about 150 miles one way. I usually end up going there about twice a year. Was just there last month when we were at CKC - St. Louis. Will probably go back in September or October.
When I go on a road trip one of the first things I do is to see if there are any LSS along the way. Have found some good ones that way.

And I am a little more than an hour away. I love having the opportunity to see products IRL, and, as Jac says, the owner often special orders things for us. Or, because I am out of town, she will set collections aside for me if I ask her to. She doesn't stray too far from middle of the road, but she stocks many of my go-to manufacturers. And I love her biannual crops. There are a few other stores in a city about 2 1/2 hours away, and when I am there for some reason, or passing through, I usually stop at at least one of them. Each has a certain vibe, so I know where to look if I want something artsy, or Tim Holtz/steampunk or girly. Another stocks a ton of stamps and stamping supplies. I shop on line as well, usually for brand specific things, like Taylored Expressions stamps and dies, or HOTP specialty papers &/or dazzle stickers. When I do place an order for a specific item, I will throw other things into my cart to make the shipment worth while (and decrease the shipping charge).

Nothing local. There is a store about an hour away, another one about 1:20 away and another smaller one that is about 1:45 the other direction. I have to take road trips with friends to get my in person scrap fix.

I have one near me but they don't carry much of the newer lines and products. There's another one that was closed for a few months and has now reopened. This one is only about a 20 minute drive so I'll be checking it out soon.

Yes, we have two (one is all types of arts and crafts, art supplies, party decor, sewing, costumes, and has a restaurant attached to it. The other is a true LSS that hosts good crops.

My last LSS closed last year. Although I didn't go there anywhere near as frequently as I used to when I drove past it on my way to work I still liked being able to see and touch things before I bought them. I didn't realise it at the time but they actually got quite a few things I couldn't easily get anywhere else.
I have a Kaisercraft outlet about 10mins away that is closing this coming weekend. Although I find their collections can be hit or miss overall they have still put out plenty of papers I really like and I'll miss the convenience of having them so close.

All of you should tell where these stores are to share with others. If anything it may help to solidify their business and keep them open.

Mine is awesome and huge! Crafts Direct in Waite Park, MN. Still holding it's own against JoAnn's, Michaels and a brand new Hobby Lobby! I may or may not visit way too often!

All of my LSS's went out years ago. I have all they typical brick and mortar stores around but I shop online almost exclusively.

In 2007 I had 5 LSSes near me. Now there are none.
I do have a small, boutique-y art store about an hour away that sells lots of stamps and mixed media, but she is very costly and hard to get to.
I too try to find LSSes when I travel. I recently went to Whim So Doodle in St. Pete, Florida - awesome shop!! So great to see things in person.

I'll start a new thread for the locations of LSS. Be sure to post your LSS there.
