Anybody taken antidepressants during pregnancy? I have suffered for years with depression and the meds were helping but once we started IVF. I could not be on the same antidepressants that were effective. I am on Zoloft 250 my daily and it is not helping me with my depression. Also stresses about my Nursing licensing exam (NCLEX) in a couple of weeks. No motivation to study. I don't want to get out of bed and study. Have no appetite. Anybody been on any other antidepressants besides Zoloft during pregnancy?

Please call your doctors first thing and see if you can get some help or advice from them. I'm sorry you're having a rough go of things.

It must be tough to deal with the normal hormonal swings of pregnancy plus being off regular meds for depression. And facing your nursing exams!im. You might want to consider seeing a specialist on psychopharmacology to determine what might be most effective for you amongst medicines approved for pregnancy.

I found that my depression and pregnancy hormone issues were caused by low thyroid. Not dismissing depression by any means, but I would definitely have other hormones tested. Balancing them can in some cases improve depression

be very careful with a switch and make sure your doctor is fully versed on all the risks. I know there is a link between certain antidepressants and congenital heart defects.

You need to be discussing these issues with your reproductive endocrinologist. The meds you are taking for the IVF can wreak havoc with your mood. It wouldn't surprise me if your treatment is affecting your depression. Your RE should be assessing your medications and how they are affecting you.
I hope all goes well for you.

There are other antidepressants that can be taken in pregnancy as well. There is nothing that is totally "risk free" but the effects of depression are not without risk as well. It's a balancing act.
It's possible also that you have not been on Zoloft long enough yet. It can take 6-8 weeks to work.

I don't have any experience, but wanted to offer (( hugs ))!! I know how HARD depression is---I've been battling with increases in mine for a few months, and I also understand the no appetite issue!!! BUT--- I've never had to deal with pregnancy *AND* the extreme stress of nursing school while dealing with it !!! I pray you find an effective medication/ feel better as soon as possible !!! How long have you been on the Zoloft, and what med were you on before? Did that other med help? As Melissa said, maybe the Zoloft hasn't been in your system long enough? Trust me, I truly know how hard it is to WAIT for something to HELP !!! Have you considered counseling? More ((( hugs )))

I took ambien, not anti depressant, with ivf and was successful. Hugs to you. Try to reduce stress. When I did, changed jobs and stress ivf worked.

Thanks to everybody for their suggestions. I have been taking Zoloft for over a year now so it has been in my system long enough. My depression was controlled when I was on Wellbutrin but RE switched me to Zoloft because it was a "safer" medication to be on for the baby. I am going to see if I can make an appt with my psychiatrist. Thanks for all the support.
