I am in search of a delicious cube streak recipe. If you have one, can you please post?

I think the "Marlboro man" sandwich on the pioneer womans site uses cube steak. I liked the sauce/flavoring. I am just not a big fan of cube steak.

Here's a very simple family recipe for cube steak. In a skillet melt down two tablespoons of butter, then add one tablespoon of Dijon mustard and several shakes of worcestershire sauce. Blend these three together then add your cube steaks and cook to desired done ness turning to coat both sides of the steak.

The Pioneer Woman has a good one. It can be a little tricky to get the meat tender but hers has turned out good the few times I have cooked it.

The Marlboro man sandwich was the first one I thought of too. I've only made them once, they were veeeery good, but as I remember can be artery clogging. Something to have only once in a while.

I just mix flour and black pepper and pound the mixture into each piece using the side of a saucer- getting it as thin as I can without it falling apart. Next brown it on each side in a little olive oil in an electric frying pan. Then cover with water and cook on low for 3-4 hrs. It always comes out tender.

This is similar to how I do it, but I used beef broth instead of water, and add a sliced onion. And simmering it for only an hour. It's wonderful over mashed potatoes.

Google "Minute Steak Lorraine". I take cube steaks and coat them in a mixture of flour and oregano. Then I put them in a frying pan with some olive oil to brown. After browned, I add one packet of powdered brown gravy mix, sliced green peppers, mushrooms and a combination of water/red wine. You add the lid and cook for about 20 minutes. They are delicious. It is a Pillsbury or Better Homes and Gardens recipe.

I honestly don't even know what cube steak is? I assumed people were just cutting cheap skirt steak into cubed shaped pieces?

Cube steak is something I hardly ever make, but we had it this week. I saw some in the store and it seemed like a good idea. This recipe was delicious. Everyone from a 3 year old to an almost 63 year old loved it! We served it over rice. www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/cubed-steaks-with-gravy

I've tried over the years to cook cube steak and it always comes out tough as shoe leather. I finally gave up and cried uncle.

I've tried over the years to cook cube steak and it always comes out tough as shoe leather. I finally gave up and cried uncle. There is only one secret to cube steak; it's cheap, but it's not fast. After browning it, it has to simmer for a LONG time in some kind of sauce or gravy to tenderize. Or, if you want to make cube steak sandwiches, pound the heck out of it until it almost rips when you bread it.

So cube steak is minute steak or otherwise a cheap cut of steak that needs some TLC to cook.

This is how my family has always cooked cubed steak: Cubed SteakIf you scroll down a bit, there is a photo of the raw cubed steak so you can see what it looks like. It is a thin cut of round steak that has been run through a cuber/tendorizer. My mom always made milk gravy with it and served mashed potatoes, homemade biscuits, and fried okra. It was one of my favorite dishes growing up. Now it doesn't really fit my eating plan, but I do love some fried cube steak and gravy!

I do it several of the ways I have seen here.
We also like to brown them in a skillet. Add a can of cream of mushroom soup and a 1/2 to a full pack of Lipton onion soup mix Simmer over a very low heat for an hour or so, add water as needed Serve with mashed potatoes.
Sounds gross, but it is childhood comfort food.

This recipe is almost identical to the one I use for cubed steak except I cover and bake it at 350 for about 1-1/2 to 2 hours. DEVILED SWISS STEAK 1 tbsp. dry mustard 1/4 c. flour Black pepper 1 1/2 lb. round steak, cut 1 inch thick Salt SAUCE: 1 c. thinly sliced onions 1 c. thinly sliced carrots 1 1/2 c. canned tomatoes 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 tbsp. brown sugar Combine mustard and flour; pound into steak. Season with salt and pepper. Brown on both sides in a little fat or salad oil in deep skillet. Add sauce: Combine all ingredients, pour over meat. Cover; simmer 2 hours or until meat and vegetables are tender. Serves 6.
