I saw it at one of the big box stores recently, probably Michael's. Not that I need another electronic cutter, but I am a sucker for electronic cutters, and knowing that I could scan stamped images and cut them out appeals to me. I can trace my clear stamps and use my Cameo to cut blanks for stamping. However, for my rubber stamps, that doesn't always work.
If you can tell me anything about the Scan 'n Cut, please do.

I'm on the fence about getting one. I think there is a Michaels up the freeway a bit that carries it. I saw them listed in an email awhile back. Not sure why that one. I do have a Brother dealer in my town. I'm not a stamper. I do have a ton of dies that I would love to scan. I'd like to hear more as well and what all you guys are mainly using this machine for.

I just got one but haven't had time to play with it yet.. I bought it for the reason of never having to buy a die to cut out a stamped image.. From all the Youtube videos I have seen it works like a dream...

I have the Scan N Cut 2. I bought it to cut out stamped images. It does a great job on them. I like to stamp out a whole page of stamped images and then have the Scan N Cut cut them all out. It cuts them all out great. I do not like the mat though. It does not keep it's stickiness. I learned how to resticky the mat with the Zig 2 way pens, and that works just great. I really like the Scan N Cut 2.

I also have a Scan N Cut 2. I bought it right when they were first coming out. I purchased it for the sole purpose to cut around stamped images. I know it will do a lot more than that, but that is all I use it for. I use the Cameo for all of the other stuff.
Buying the matching dies that can be purchased with stamp sets tend to add up in price. By not having to buy the matching dies, it doesn't take too long for the machine to pay for itself.

Julie Balzer is a spokesperson for them and has some tutorials on her blog, so check her out. I'm sure she's on YouTube, Instagram, etc. and I know she demos it on HSN every now and again.

I absolutely love mine and I haven't begun to use it to its' full potential. It is great just for cutting your stamped images -the fine detail it can cut is absolutely amazing! It has basic shapes and several fonts on the machine, and you can design right on the screen with those. You can bring designs from the computer to the machine via USB or wirelessly if you purchase the software for that. Brother's online canvas software is free and relatively easy to use, and you can use existing fonts from your computer with it. There are other softwares you can use as well. There is a scan n cut group on Facebook run by Jen Blausey that is a wealth of information, and she has a ton of YouTube videos. It cuts a variety of materials, the blade is easy to adjust, and the pen holder is great, and allows you to use a lot of different pens/markers that you already own. So much more I could say......

I just bought myself one for Mother's Day for this exact reason! I hate fussy ctting and I'm tired of the cost of matching dies for my stamps. I figure it will pay for its self rather quickly too! Love mine. Metal dies have become so popular lately, especially those made to cut around stamped images. You will NEVER need to buy one of those again. As a post above said, they add up quickly in price. With the Scan N Cut you will have that capability for ALL all your stamps. Of course it does way more than cut around stamped images. I also suggest watching the YouTube videos from Julie Fei-Fan Balzer. You can also use it off line and without a computer connection, or with those options.

My sister and I bought SnC2 for my mother for Christmas. She has texted me repeatedly since about how it is the best gift we have ever given her. She has used it mostly for fussy cutting stamped images because she has 2 card clubs and it has saved SO much time. We have done some other testing of its features and it really performs well. I was going to get a Cameo for myself but the more I use the SnC, I may change my mind.

Well now I'm totally torn! I've never really paid attention to this machine before because so much of the focus of the official website is on fabric and other things that I don't do or need. The FAQs are kind of awful - the first question is some random thing about the rhinestone kit...?!? Is that really the top question people have when they're looking at this machine? So anyway, I have never seriously looked into it for the paper crafting I do. I have been saving up to buy a manual die cutter and some good basics dies, but now I'm wondering if a scan n cut would be a better investment... I can see that if (big IF) I'm going to get sucked into buying stamps and their co-ordinating dies the cutting machine would pay for itself fairly quickly. I didn't know it could cut around a stamped image and that you can choose how much of an outline to leave. And the idea of plugging in the exact dimension of a basic shape to cut is appealing - all those nested circle, square, heart, oval, frame, etc dies would add up $$ pretty quickly. Designing my own cuts seems like it would be fairly easy - especially handwritten words or using fonts. I love the idea of taking a new stamp set and stamping all the components on one sheet and quickly cutting them out to have a little ephemera selection ready to go for card making. Do you know if it does the little details like the faux stitching lines that a lot of dies have? I assume that would be pretty easy for the cutting blade to do... ? But the upfront cost!  And in my little space, I have no idea where I could store it. I guess I might have to save up for some different furniture too. |

Walkerdill, you have a very good question that I haven't taken the time to figure out.
I bought one MFT Pure Innocence stamp where the girl had a separate cut out under her arm.
Here is an example
At the time I didn't want to take the time to figure if that little space under her arm could be cut out with the Scan N Cut2, so I just went ahead and bought the die to go with the stamp.
If anyone knows if there is a way to cut out "middle sections" please lead us into the direction to find information on this.

It is demo'd fairly often on HSN's craft days. Actually, the only people Ive met who have one use it for quilting, not paper. It is sold at sewing stores that sell Brother machines. You would get lessons included in your purchase. Also, it is used in every episode of Make It Artsy as it is one of the sponsors.

I know I am in the minority here but I want a Scan n Cut for my fabric work. I love that it can scan in patterns and cut them. I like to make doll clothes. I really don't like cutting out patterns. I saw a video where a lady scanned her fabric and then cut out the images that were on the fabric. I also love I can use my embroidery files with the machine. I would like to be able to scan in my own drawings I create and cut them out. I heard a lot of professional artists are in love with this machine. I was putting the machine at the bottom of my wish list because I wanted some new gaming systems. My DH got me a Playstation 4 for Mother's Day. I decided to put the Scan n Cut at the top of my list again. My only concern is the proprietary blades. I would prefer to use Roland Blades. If anybody has different blade resources I would love to know, thank you.  I heard the mats are flimsy and you can't use Cricut mats with the machine. Those are really my only two concerns. |

She got her Scan N Cut a couple weeks ago for her birthday and is considering selling her Silhouette. She was a 'pry my Silhouette from my cold dead hands' user so that is saying something |
