I say "diagonal" but it's common here to hear kitty corner. I don't think I've ever heard someone say catty corner.

Yep. I'm from Michigan and I say kitty corner. I now live in Texas and everyone here says catty corner. Confession, I sometimes now do say catty corner because to me it sounds cooler. 😊

I must be from another planet. I thought it was kiddy-corner and caddy-corner. Maybe I need a hearing aid.

I grew up with catty-corner, but having spent a good bit of time away I sometimes say kitty-corner.
Now catty wampus is a whole different thing. I will say that picture is catty wampus and needs to be straightened up. It means something is a mess or not quite in line where it should be.

Kitty corner. I've only read catty here and when I've seen it I thought they were just wrong and didn't know how to spell or say it!! Got some knowledge dropped on me today. And yes, I live in the red part of the map.

Neither one, this is a new phrase to me altogether. Diagonally across would be my term but I wonder the etymology of this phrase!

I haven't got the first clue what we're talking about here! Me neither! I thought it was going to be a thread about where to put a litter box! I think I need to seriously consider bringing the term kitty-corner into my vocabulary. Now I've read the origin, it makes perfect sense, thanks Really Red

I would have picked either one but not an option. Ha, I never even thought about having both as an option but a few of you have mentioned that you do use both. I guess I am an all or nothing type girl.

I guess I am an all or nothing type girl. When I say it to myself I keep switching back and forth. I hear my mom saying catty corner and I am most likely to say kitty corner but if I'm around her or even others I would say catty or caddy corner.

I say catty-corner but think of it being spelled caddy. No idea why. I like catty wampus too. I'd use it like melanell said.
