Where have I been? But thanks to Monique Fox showing the amazing Mother's Day one she made, I'm now in the know and I'm ready to play! I'm curious though, what do you make them for? Most of the tags I see are page ready. So is that what they are for? Or is it more of a creative greeting card you send to someone? I guess they could work both ways, but what do you make yours for?

I didn't know anything about them until you mentioned them here, so I googled them. They look like a really fun way to use up lots of supplies. I'm not sure what I would do with one if it was gifted to me though. I wasn't able to see one actually displayed in a room. Do they go on a wall or a desktop or what? I'm really not sure what I would do with one ... But they sure are fun to look at.

How are they different from Pocket Letters? I have never done those either, but have seen some pretty ones in PL divided protectors.

There is a youtube version of the first one I saw, but I find the facebook page of it to be easier to watch with the photo and video. I'm not sure if this link will work or not.. it didn't, so lets try her blog: living-in-the-positive.blogspot.com/2017/01/have-youll-heard-of-loaded-envelopes.htmlI then looked up tutorials on youtube. The top google search one was perfect for Mother's Day due to its rawness

I've never heard of them either but at first glance it looks like maybe a fun way to gift people coordinating supplies to decorate cards, scrapbooks pages, or planners. I'm off to check it out some more. Thanks for sharing, mymindseyepea.

They look really pretty and fun to make, but I'm not sure what I would do with one. I don't know any crafters IRL who might appreciate all that creativity and it's bad enough to hear the comments about handmade cards and gift packaging ("Oh you have too much time on your hands" etc).

They're pretty but like others have said I don't understand what you're supposed to do with them. Are they interactive cards? Is it a way to give tags and other things as gifts? Just to do something creative a la Heidi Swapp make pretty stuff? Pocket letter in envelope form?

As a greeting card, I can see it being the highlight of the moment and maybe brought out again to reminisce about during the next annual event. You know those cards from a group where everyone signs it, like for a birthday. This can be a great way to gift someone a greeting card and have everyone write their wishes for them on a separate tag. A great end of the school year gift for a teacher from their students. As something useful, maybe like a little cookbook gift with the tags for recipes they can display on their fridge. A wedding gift with ready to write in tags ( double sided) that represent each year up to their first milestone anniversary, like the 25th... and then on that day go through all the tags from all the previous years. Then begin the next 25 years of the back of the tags or something. Or something to present something to advertise with. Like if you have a cake decorating business and having each tag show your art work of cakes. For a family tradition, maybe for Christmas time, like an advent calendar with the tags to represent each countdown day and maybe a little fun activity on each one. Or a gift to give a child on their 18th Birthday that has a tag for each of their past birthday years with a photo of them and something memorable from each year...

Looks like it's a spin off if the pocket letter.

Looks like it's a spin off if the pocket letter. That's actually what I used for my advent and annual calendar idea a few years ago was that same concept as a pocket letter. Still haven't implemented it yet.

I would tell someone who told me that, that when I craft, time seems to stop and just melt away as I delve deeper into my creative passion lol!! it totally does for me, too! (until the dogs remind me they have to eat, or I look up at the clock and realize it's 1:30 am, or something like that...) I've seen some loaded envelopes, but I couldn't decide what they were *for* either. I've done some pocket letters; my sister and I are trading themed pocket letters once a month for the entire year. (theme = the month). It's a great way to use up supplies, make / send cute stuff, and we trade extra supplies / goodies in the back of the pockets, as well. I think pocket letters in and of themselves are more for artsy display / collecting, although I have received one where the maker decorated it with embellishment clusters and she told me she meant for them to be taken out of the pockets and used on a SB page. Perhaps the loaded envelope contents are the same?

I put loaded envelopes into the same category as flip books and pocket pages - a way to use up your supplies while sending some additional goodies to a crafty friend.

A get well card from the office. Having tags with well wishes for each office mate to sign.

For holiday or birthday gifts, I could see loading one of these up with tags with gift cards attached. One of my DDs seems to prefer gift cards to anything I pick out for her. You could put cash in there, concert tickets, jewelry, really any small gift.

I love them lots of great inspiration on YT and lots of variations of them too.
People trade them like pocket letters. There are FB groups dedicated to loaded envelope swaps.

Thanks for sharing ideas here - I had never heard of pocket letters nor loaded envelopes, but doing the suggested pinterest search I can see the loaded envelopes being perfect for my small girlfriends (aged 11 and 15) who are always looking for ideas to make with their friends. Making loaded envelopes would be a great craft party idea for them - hehe, they're far too overwhelmed by anything pink, sparkly and crafty to ever question "what will I do with it?". I can imagine them being totally enchanted by the whole concept, like Love it!

I started a Pinterest board a while back with happy mail and put these in there. I also just found out about them fairly recently, but I really don't know what to do with them, either. I started one and got as far as decorating the envelope and making a pinwheel that I attached to a straw, but I put it aside because I had no idea what to do next. LOL.
