Teri you look fabulous! Fantastic, congratulations! I'm still living 16:8 and 24 hour fasts every Monday and Thursday, break my fast at dinner. I love living like this. I don't have much more to lose but I plan on pretty much keeping it off in this lifestyle. It works for me and I look and feel at least 15 years younger. My energy level compared to what it was is just through the roof. This is so inspiring! I really need to get started following this plan. Not only do I have 25 lbs that NEED to go, I'm tired all the time. I don't feel good. Thanks for this testimony! Mary K Save

So I’ve lost a total of 36 pounds over the last 16 weeks. I’ve been trying to completely avoid sugar and staying around 30 carbs a day. I’m also doing intermittent fasting. I try to only eat between the hours of 11:15 (teacher lunch time) and 6-7. I do not snack at all. I cannot believe how simple it’s been. I’m not hungry and I don’t really have cravings. The only time I crave sugar is if I eat sugar. If I slip, I know I will have to fight the cravings the next day. It’s been easier to stay on track by realizing how hard it is to resist the cravings if you give in a little. I now realize I’ve never been successful because I snacked too much and ate all the wrong food!
I’ve been having a lot of fun buying new clothes lately. I cannot believe how many sizes I have dropped. The jeans I bought this weekend were 4 sizes lower than the last pair I bought last winter.
I still have a lot to go, but I’m getting there.

That is awesome! Way to go! I have fallen off the IF wagon. But I am getting back on it and starting again. My trainer quit (she's moving) so it really through my who food/workout routine out of whack. I am going to be doing my workouts and meal planning all alone. I can do this. I have been at a plateau for about a month. But I know my diet has been crappy. SaveSave

teri , did you stop the insulin? With a HA1C that low, I would think there would be no need! Congrats! I was happy to just see mine out of the pre-diabetic range for the first time in a while. It did not drop as low as I would have liked which is frustrating considering I have eaten barely any sugar the prior 3 months. I can recite exactly what sugar I've had in the last 3 months, it was that little. I've been eating anywhere from actual ketogenic (less than 20 net carbs a day) to low carb. I feel like it should have been much lower. Sigh. Though, there's a formula to determine insulin resistance using fasting glucose and fasting insulin. Both of those values were normal for me, but once you plug them in, you can see that I am still moderately insulin resistant. I've got quite a ways to go. On the other hand, I am more than 20 lbs down from where I started and I can now clearly see the difference in my clothing... at least the clothing that sort of fits. Some things like the bathing suit bottoms I made last year, the shorts I used to wear often and my old favorite jeans , are all a total no go. Just way too big. (fyi I am short so 10 lbs on me is at least one size) My dr has been treating my insulin resistance and its been a game changer for me. When I eat right - the weight falls off. SaveSave

I have now lost 20.4 lbs since June 14. I still can not believe how easy this is. I'm sure I could have lost more weight, but I haven't been strict about what I east during my feasting time.

You've all inspired me! I watched the videos and decided to give this a try. I jumped right in with a 24 hour fast on my first Monday, then went to 16:8 the remainder of the week. Also following a low carb diet.
I've never skipped breakfast in my life and am shocked that I am totally fine and not the least bit hungry until almost time to break the fast.
The 24 hour fasts have also been fairly easy...hard not to eat lunch with my co-workers, but I'm not nearly as hungry as I thought I would be, and the hunger pangs pass quickly.
I'm still pretty new to this, just 2 weeks in, but I feel great. I realized I haven't had a headache in 2 weeks...usually I have a couple of bad headaches a week.
I feel a lot more energetic, especially late afternoon.
And I love the ease of this. That whole, "it's something you're NOT doing" works well for me. So many diets have been ruined or delayed for me simply because with 3 really busy kids I just didn't have time to go to the store. And since I had to eat something, I ate crap. I always had the, "well, I guess I'll start that tomorrow" mentality. You don't really need anything special to do the 24 hour fast so I just jumped right in after watching/reading for a week.
So far I'm down about 6.5 lbs - which is enough to feel a little better but have a good 20-30 lbs to go. Thanks for sharing this information - I really feel like I might have found a new way to approach food and think I can do this long term.

I've lost 23 pounds since getting back to Keto eating and fasting between 6pm & noon, since August 1st. I'm feeling so much better!
I've thrown the odd 24 hour fast in to shake things up.
I seem to be hovering up and down the last week or two around the same number, so I think another 24 hour fast is in order. (especially before two large Thanksgiving events this weekend!!)
But it is so easy to do - and I agree with others, I'm not hungry at all between meals in my eating window. And the odd time I am during my fasting period, drinking water really seems to help with that!

This is my first time posting on this thread~ I just wanted to say thanks to all of you for being so inspirational! I lurked on this thread for a little while and got the book on Saturday. I've done the 16:8 thing for the past 3 days and I'm SO surprised how easy it was. I'm guessing that's because I haven't had any refined carbs- I'm all too familiar with that shaky, must-eat-something-now feeling. Didn't feel it once this weekend. This is totally something I can do.
Going to try the 24 hour fast today and I'm a little nervous about it. But from everything I've read it sounds totally do-able. I only have about 10 pounds to lose, but I take medication for high blood pressure, and I would love to get off of that!

I have lost 43lbs-primarily through IF. I was at a plateau about 30lbs in, and quitting sugar has been the push I need to get me over the hump. I am within 5-6lbs of goal, but I may actually try to lose a few more-not sure yet. quitting sugar (both real, and artificial) is a game changer for me. I slip up every once in awhile, but its getting easier to say no because I KNOW that if I eat sugar I not only crave more sugar, but I also am STARVING and eat more food overall.

I weighed yesterday and lost 2 more pounds. That makes 22lbs so far. My energy has really improved and I seem to need less sleep. I am really stoked that this is working so well

I ordered the book and it has been delayed, but is expected to arrive tomorrow. Is anyone interested in a "challenge" or "support group" and possibly a new thread devoted to this? I would like to get started, but I feel a little overwhelmed.

I would like to get started, but I feel a little overwhelmed. I've lost just over 25 lbs. on this way of eating since May 15. I'm still eating only in my window of 4 to 8 hours but my weight loss has slowed to nothing over the past 2 months. I need to recommit to low carb eating and would welcome the support.

I would like to get started, but I feel a little overwhelmed. I'll participate with you. How about we call it IF/Keto/Low Carb or something like that to include others? I am still losing on IF, but my losses are always better the weeks I go low car or keto. Still on WW as well. I just count my points, go to my meetings, but IF and watch the carbs.

It's surprisingly easy to do if you are off sugar first. You got this, girl! Now, for your 24 hour fast, you are going dinner to dinner, right? That's what I do and its so easy. I do that twice a week. I look forward to dinner but the day just flies for me for the most part. If I get a hunger pang I know it'll pass in about 20 minutes, so I make myself a cup of Yogi tea (I stock different flavors) and get busy and I forget about it.

I've been doing WW since last Nov. Just started IF, doing 16:8 on Sunday. I thought it would be really hard in the mornings, it have been surprised by how not hungry I am. I feel like I get a lot more bang out of my 30 WW points during my 8 hour break.

Gained 5 lbs, but already lost all but 1lb of it. Came back off really fast after getting home and back on track. Redid some measurements from beginning Keto upper bust from 43.5 to 39 full bust from 46 to 41 Under bust from 38.5 to 35 Waist from 39.5 to 35.5 Hips from 50 to 45 I REALLY need to get some new bras

How's everyone doing? This has been slow for me. I'm focusing on NOT snacking. I haven't been perfect, but it's much less. I've trying to keep eating between 11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. at the very latest. I need to be stricter but I have a giant fear of yo-yo dieting. My dad died at the age of 63. He was raised in poverty and he also had bad genetics on his side. He did extreme diets, lost several pounds quickly, gained several more back.
I've learned -Too much sugar wreaks havoc on my stomach. -I seem to be more sensitive to any sugar now -I love that cinnamon tea Patter recommended! -I prefer green tea cold and watered down -Fasting isn't hard -Wow! When I screw up, I get tired fast.
Where I struggle -I still drink Coke -I need to drink more water -I need to be more consistent -When my husband makes late night desserts.
What is a typical week for the rest of you with fasting? When do you do 24 hour fasting? I'm stuck on what to eat when I can. It's overwhelming to me. It tends to be leftovers and I'm sure there's more carbs and sugar than I should have.
Coffee! Never drank it and I want to start. No Starbucks near me, just some fast food chains. I don't want to make the investment into a coffee maker until I know. I've heard that instant is nasty, is that true? I was raised coffee was not healthy and it's hard to explain but it's a mental hurdle I'm trying to get over.
Also, alcohol. Same thing, raised it was bad. I know that's not true because you know; science! The book said red wine was okay. Again, I'd like to try. If you have an occasional glass, recommendations? I am clueless, Utah has weird liquor laws and I live in the middle of nowhere. Something that's attainable.
Tea! Another newbie. What do you like? I do like peppermint, hot cinnamon spice tea, and green tea. Also, what brand of green tea? I tolerate it, helps with hunger, but it's just okay. Is there a variety pack out there I can try? I've also never had loose leaf tea.
ETA: Anyone take caffeine pills instead of coffee? That's what I do sometimes. I have a son with special needs and I can't count on getting consistent sleep.

I've done a good bit of traveling lately and have really fallen off the wagon as a result. Too much sugar, too many carbs, and too much wine. I can "feel" the difference in my body. Yuck. Despite the fact that I have two more trips this month, I've got to get a handle on this. I hate the way I feel when I'm eating badly. I'm confessing this all here to make it real and hold myself accountable. I'm going to do better... tomorrow. No, really. I am. Dammit. Why is it that we know what we need to do and still don't do it? I'm always amazed that the mere fact of how much better I feel when I'm eating more whole foods is not enough to make me do it. Time to kick myself in the butt. Again.

I need accountability! I neeeeeeed it...

I've been low carb since last year. Lost around 55 lbs. I check my glucose and ketones with a finger prick. I was able to get off of 2 medications and my bp meds were cut in half.
Now I'm stalled and keep losing and regaining the same 3 pounds. I did IF for awhile. Did a 42 hr fast mixed in with the 16:8, then fell off the wagon. Not by eating carbs, just not fasting. Now I'm back to constantly thinking of food. I have got to get back to fasting.
