Earlier I posted a question about photo organization software. What got me started is looking for some older pictures on my phone, and realizing not all of them have been moved from phone to computer. That made me curious, how often do you clean off your phone pictures, or do you just keep them all on there? Next question: right now, how many pictures are on your phone? I am embarrassed to admit my number..... but here it is.....including screen shots, I have exactly 3,670! I think the oldest picture I have on this phone is from January 4, 2016. I take pictures of junk at home I want to remember to buy at the store, things I see out and about that I want to try to make on my own, screen shots of scrapbooking youtube videos that have a technique/style/layout I want to try, small trips that I don't bring my DSLR, and more pictures of my dogs than of my two sons! I think my problem is that I don't trust my storage/filing system on the computer to have them all, so until I get that all sorted out, I don't want to delete anything off my phone unless it's no longer useful to me. So, please tell me I'm not the only one who has this ridiculous amount of pictures on my cell phone......

I try to copy over photos each week. It's in my Saturday morning chore schedule so I don't forget. I don't delete anything until I have to, either, for similar reasons. The more places my photos are, the less chance that I'll lose them. Ok, brace yourself, I currently have 6,532 photos and videos on my iphone from about July of last year to present.

While I don't think January 2016 is really bad at all, mine are still a little less bad in comparison to yours. I don't know the number, but it only goes back to October 2016. It's such a pain to download my files to my laptop, so I just email myself the ones I know I want to use.
I don't entirely trust my computer either, so they all get backed up to an external drive too.
But I don't think we're so awful to leave them on there. Your phone still works, right?

There are currently 9,217 photos and 684 videos on my phone. They are currently only on my phone because my computer doesn't have enough free space for me to move them over.

I have 3,045 photos on my phone right now. They all end up on my Macbook via my Photostream and are also backed up to an EHD through Time Machine plus to Dropbox and Flickr. I just use the Photos app on my Mac to 'organise' my pics. I do use face recognition so I can find all the pics with particular people in them and could probably use other things such as locations, keywords to set up smart albums except I'm too lazy to do that

I have less than 600 photos and videos, but that is because I clear out my phone at the end of the year. I have my pictures stored on my hard drive through Photos and time machine. I also have my photos on Google Photos. ETA - I used to have close to 4,000 on my phone but I was running out of storage. I take a lot of videos.

I have 3,846 and my photos are backed up to my computer as of yesterday. As I am currently doing a month in review album I transfer all my photos over to my computer at least once a month.

I last moved photos off my phone in September 2014. It was about 12,000 that I moved because I was running out of storage. We then got the iCloud backup so I've not worried about moving them off. I think I will be soon because I've used about 75% of my iCloud storage. I just checked and I currently have 12,264 and 157 videos on my phone. ....maybe it's time to go through and delete some of those!

I import my photos from my phone into my EHD almost every day - whenever I plug connect my phone by usb to charge while I'm using my laptop.
I try to remember to back up to Google Photos and Amazon Prime every couple of weeks.
Maybe once or twice a year I clear off the photos from my phone and double check the backups. Usually before we go on vacation so if I drop or lose my phone it's no big deal.
There are 2,334 photos on my phone right now going back a year at least.

So my iPhone's memory was full and it was refusing to take any more photos, so I finally decided to transfer to my computer. I am not very techy and hadn't done this in over a year, so had to figure out how to do it etc, but finally managed to copy over 2,000 photos--earliest being from January 2015.
I had used the "cut and paste" features on my non Apple computer, but when I went back to my phone, the photos were all still there. Good thing, because when I went to double check, some had not copied into usable format. I found a group that had and selected and deleted them on my phone so I have room now, but I was frustrated and quit.
I hate technology!

I have 3500+ photos on my phone from June 2016 to today. I just uploaded to my laptop last week cause my phone wasn't letting me view my pictures cause there was no space. So now I can delete pictures without worrying about them, but I still have access to them cause I have Google photos and I can just retrieve what I need from there.

I was running out of space on my phone, and when we looked at it, it was because I had over 1000 pictures on my phone- I moved all (okay, most) of them to my computer, so now I can start the process over again! (it was like, a year's worth of pictures, or more.)
I also take pictures of things I see at the store, things I want to remember to BUY at the store, random stuff I see when I'm out and about, etc. just because I always have a camera with me now.

I usually could only have about 300 pictures on my phone at one time. So I upgraded to the iPhone 7plus with 256G of memory. I have Dropbox on my phone and I download the photos to that each day or so. and that is backed up again off site.

I used to clean them off and back them up to pc and ehd, but now I just do cloud based stuff. So I use Flickr and Dropbox and things like that.
Because my laptop is so old & slow, I do most of my editing and printing from my phone, so I take a lot of photos, but also have edited copies and such.
So I def need to do a delete session....right now I have 13,663. Some I keep on purpose, like fav photos or trip photos, but a lot is duplicates and can be deleted.

I use the Shutterfly app to automatically upload all my photos from my phone to Shutterfly, so they are always backed up.
I only have about 350 photos on my phone, because I recently got a new phone and deleted most of the photos on the old phone before I transferred to the new one.

My photos are in the cloud - so they auto upload to my computer. So i have access to all 29,000 on my phone and computer. If I delete a photo from my phone that also deletes it from the cloud - only a small image is actually saved on my phone until I open it to edit or look at it or share it. Then after I have done that it returns to a small photo. So my phone is uploading to the cloud as I take photos. I pay a small monthly fee to Apple so I have the storage on the cloud I need for them. I do need to do the years back up to my external harddrive. I do a new back up of my entire photo library every year.

I have 1,726 photos on my phone. I upgraded to the iPhone6 when it came out so it's over 2 years old. I start my phones from scratch so never carry over old photos. I use dropbox and now that i have a macbook it's even easier to transfer. I trust my macbook more than my phone to keep my photos safe. I also back them up to an external hard drive.
I delete crap photos because I really don't need 10 photos of the exact same thing with a slight variation of angle. I pick the best, put it in my scrapbook and move on. I also delete copies of all the food, memes, and online stuff that I screenshot. Normally I would have upgraded my phone by now but i'm holding out. it's the only reason i have so many photos. Probably time to purge.

7,000+. Mine go to my Amazon and Verizon clouds as well as on my SD card and my laptop. Then I back them up to my external. Sheesh. It is actually quite exhausting if you ask me. Sometimes I miss good ol' film developing!

I have more than that but I got a nicer smart phone with a better than crap camera in May 2015 and my cell phone photo taking took off from there quite a bit. I'm actually happy that I can take more quality photos (not all of them, but enough to matter) with my phone because oftentimes they are the ones that show the more 'real life' aspect of what we're doing as a family. They are a huge feature in my Project Life but also photos (because they still aren't as good as my DSLR) that I'm most likely not to pay attention to when I scrapbook 12x12 pages.

I have about 4,100 photos on my phone, dating back 2 years, which is how long I've had this phone. They automatically back up to the cloud, so I don't download everything to my computer. There are quite a few I don't need to download - photos taken to load here or to Ravelry, and lots of the photos I take at Kinder, which either get shared on WhatsApp or printed directly from my phone.

Ok yall have made me feel better about the number of photos I have on my phone! DH and I just upgraded our memory ( I wish that was a thing in real life....sigh...) so space isn't an issue, but I just get tired of scrolling through them all for the few I really do want to keep on my phone. I wish when you move them to a folder, it actually literally moves it, not just " is also located in this folder." I thought that would solve my problems, having different folders....one for kid pics, dog pics, screenshots, etc. Maybe it would work better if I were more dedicated to sorting them, then I'd ONLY have to look through the folders to find what I want. I'm just too lazy, I guess. So many ideas and options....thanks so much for sharing how yall do things! Cindy

That's the easiest way for me to quickly go thru photos when it happens, I *heart* a few that I know are good ones or I want to print, then it goes into my Favorites folder. Much easier to find them there. I have gotten better at making different albums to sort and organize for editing and printing. I get what you mean about the scrolling. If not iPhone, maybe Android has something similar?

I have 8 photos on my phone. Usually the number is right around 0-20. I find that I'm never really happy with the pictures it takes plus I don't have a lot of storage space on it so I rarely use the camera for things that I need to keep. If, by chance, I do want to keep the photo I move it immediately to my computer to edit so that I can try to make it look less gross. Then I delete it off my phone.

DawnMcD Are photos sent directly from the iphone to a photo developer in the higher resolution? I hope this question makes sense. I want to use the Costco app on my phone to send photos to be developed but I'm not sure if the quality would be as good as sending them from my computer. I'm guessing it would be ok but not sure. I know just enough to be dangerous! Any information or tips you could provide would be greatly appreciated! I got my iphone in January of 2016 and I have 1,933 photos.

I have 1839 photos. The bulk go back to Oct 2016. I only have a few saved from before that. Like many others mine automatically go to Flickr and iCloud. They also go to Google Photo, which is my favorite app for finding my photos because you can just put it dog and it will search through all your photos for dogs. Or I put in my "dd name, dog" if i know there is one of them together I want to scrap. It'll pull all with her and a dog. I also download them to my computer and an ehd. I try to do that monthly, but am thinking I should try weekly and do everyone's iphone's.
