Ooooooh, I didn't even know they were releasing new colours this summer already! And it sounds like they're planning on releasing ALL the original Distress shades as Oxide eventually. Thanks for sharing! I haven't finished the 1h-long video yet but I was really intrigued by TH's revelations about Ranger's reservations about these inks. Very interesting to see that there was such a lack of faith in them. When you look at the timeline and realise that in early October they announced he was stepping down as a Creative Director, I can't help but wonder if this situation really pushed Ranger to reconsider him as the right choice for their company. Glad to see he's proven them wrong with the product and that you can actually bring "old classics" back and don't need to be forking out new stuff all the time to stay relevant in the industry!

Every color happens eventually and it's either a group of 12 for the year (the one a month thing last year) or 12 at a time to start. I think even the mini's came out in groups of 3 (so 12 colors at a time) but that one I'm not actually certain about, lol, just trying to help make my point. I think the crayons might have been 3 packs of 6 at a time, though.

I think the crayons might have been 3 packs of 6 at a time, though. Oh, yes, that they're coming out in batches of 12 obviously makes sense. I believe the mini pads came out originally in packs of four. And then there was the whole Picket Fence debacle because that colour took it to 60 + 1 shades. However, TH had already mentioned back at Creativation that he genuinely did not know whether the other Distress colours would come out as Oxide. He reiterates that sentiment in the video linked above and even goes on to explain that's why he chose to include two brown shades (a cool and a warm) in the release since he really doubted whether there would be any Oxide releases beyond the first selection of 12 shades. Ranger really thought it would flop right up until the actual release of the line. So, to me, this is great news (albeit slightly expected after all the customer love the Oxide inks have received).

Can someone please explain the difference between the Distress Oxide inks and the regular distress inks? I need to know why I need these! Distress Oxide are dye and pigment, water-based ink. Not a hybrid ink, not a pigment, and not a chalk ink. Regular distress are water based dye inks. Translucent, while the Oxides are opaque like paint, but they can be translucent if you add more water. In the video linked above, at about 6:45, Tim starts showing what they do. You NEED these!

Do the distress oxides already come in mini ink pads? They're only in full size pads, and originally Tim said he didn't think they would ever be available in mini sizes, but that might have been because of the same lack of confidence the company had in the product.

Do the distress oxides already come in mini ink pads? No and they won't ever be released as mini pads. TH has explained the formulation is so complex and difficult that it's been impossible to make it work in the mini format (the pigment doesn't like the smaller format and starts separating from the rest of the formula). They're still trying to find a way to make it work in spray format though (but hadn't figured it out yet by early May when the above video was shot). ETA: Clearly, I've listened to far too many videos in which TH talks about these Oxide inks.

Can someone please explain the difference between the Distress Oxide inks and the regular distress inks? I need to know why I need these! I kind of like to describe them as a paint in ink form, but you can do so much with them! You can blend, layer, get a crisp stamped image, they are creamy, just so nice overall.
