Can we talk about enamel dots? I have only ever had one pack of them (from MME) and I can't remember where I got them (maybe Archivers- it's been a while). But I really like the look and want to use more. The problem is I find them kind of pricey. Where do you all get yours and what brands are your favorite? Do you ever see them at HL (so you can use a coupon)? I haven't been there in ages but might go soon because I'm itching to find some after watching Glitter Girl all weekend! lol

Most of mine have either come with collections, or I picked up at a LSS, which we are lucky enough to still have. I still buy them if I like the colours or shapes, even though I have a full range of Nuvo crystal drops colours and could make my own.

I bought a bunch some time ago from Freckled Fawn. I find I prefer the smaller ones, and they had packs with three different sizes (all on the small side) in 3 shades of coordinating basic colors, so I got all the ones that appealed to me. I can't remember if they were expensive or if I got them during a sale, but they feel like they have been good value. I have never seen them at Michaels or Joann's (I don't shop HL).

Hobby Lobby does sell them! They are Paper Studio brand and you can find them with the "gems" in the scrapbook area. I stock up on them when they are 50% off. Michaels also sells them. Recollection brand also usually in with the "gems" in the sb area, and sometimes in with seasonal products. They used to sell MME brand, but I haven't seen them in a long time.

I stock up at conventions and I use them on most pages. You could use Nuvodrops to make as many as you want.

I haven't found a brand I DIDN'T like I get them from Eyelet Outlet at convnetions for reasonable prices, and they may have an online store. I watch Scrapbook Steals and have picked up bundles on sale there. I also have several bottle of Nuvo drops in my most used colors to make my own now too.

Recollections brand (the Michael's house brand) has enamel dots that come in a couple different colorways... a package with 4 or 5 pastel colors in, and a package with 4 or 5 bright colors in. The package has two or three different sizes, and maybe 20 - 30 enamel dots, total?? can't remember off the top of my head. I don't know if Hobby Lobby's Paper Studios brand has them or not.
if you don't mind a bit of sparkle, I use a couple rhinestones / gems as well-- the Recollections brand has a better color selection of them than enamel dots.

I just got a few from Ali Express because they are sooo expensive here. I'm pretty pleased with the quality. They look just like some of the branded ones.

Unfortunately I purchase what I want no matter the price. But I did by a huge lot at AliExpress that should last me for quite some time.

AliExpress and eBay. There are some REALLY awesome ones for around 75 cents on eBay right now (they are more than double from AliExpress for the same ones). I LOVE enamel dots and have hundreds of packages, but like you, I felt they were too expensive for what you got. I didn't buy any for months as much as I wanted to...then CKC came to town (the only year it ever came here) and there was a clearance shop that had $1 packs of enamel dots and I bought a ton. They were from the same few MME lines and I got 3-5 of most packages. I'll pay upwards of $2 for them, but I try and stock up from AliExpress and eBay these days. I used the last round of eBay ones on a project the day that I received them...they are glorious and just as good (maybe better since they are far less money) than the ones in name brand packaging. 18 packs for $13.52 and a 2 week wait is totally doable for me. I don't shop online as much, so the anticipation of that little package's arrival is a fun little treat when it finally shows up in the mail. Enamel dots are my absolute favorite embellishment...I loved the pop of rhinestones and pearls but never really cared for either, so when enamel dots showed up, it was the perfect little touch for me. I used to keep mine on a binder ring...then that ring turned into 3 and now I have 3 fridge organizing containers (something like 4" x 10") full and overflowing. I'd use more packages up but I tend to reach for whatever is closest and sometimes that's a new package rather than one that has already been used somewhere else in my stash that would take some digging. The only complaint I have is how hard it is to find a TRUE red (I have lots of orangy-reds and lots of burgundy-reds, but not many true Christmas reds) and navy (I have a few with navy in them, but if I used them as much as I wanted, I wouldn't have any left...not many offerings without buying the same package over and over again).

I buy them with collections. Also, I've picked up bundles for cheap at peachycheap.com and used coupons for Joann's, M's or HL for them.
You can make your own with liquid pearls or the Nuvo drops. Liquid pearls is a bit harder and Nuvo drops are still flexible after making them. I've also seen someone use a glue gun and fingernail polish to coat afterwards.

I buy them with collections and have bought some bundles from peachy cheap. I also bought a sheet from the mix by pinkfresh and was amazingly surprised by the size of that sheet. I bought a pack on sale at 4.68 and it was one BIG sheet (close to 7 x 9 or 8 x 10 sheet with so many dots and colors). I really hope that pinkfresh comes out with more colors and does not change size of their enamel dot sheets.

I make my own by melting perler beads or pony beads depending on the size you like. There are several videos on YouTube for making your own. I have thousands of them that I made for pretty cheap using a HL coupon to buy the beads. I have them in 3 sizes. Perler beads come in two sizes...I haven't tried the jumbo ones, and the pony beads come in two sizes that I have seen.

I'm a cheapie when it comes to enamel dots. I don't like to pay full price.
I like Recollections brand at Michael's. You can usually use a coupon. Even better is if your M's has a clearance section (in my store, it is in the very back wall of the store). I have often found packs of their enamel dots for $1.29 each.
Talking about M's clearance section, I also find name brand enamel dots there. I just recently bought Heidi Swapp dots and arrows there for $1.39 a pack.
At A C Moore, their store brand is Nicole. Their enamel dots are raised higher than most enamel dots, so for that reason I don't love them. But I have used them in my albums, and they are not bad.
Also, in the name of full disclosure, I am weird and always add a small drop of Scotch liquid glue to my enamel dots because i fear them popping off. I do this to name brand and store brand alike.

For any of you who have melted your own from beads, does it stink up your kitchen?

I don't know what your discount/dollar stores are like in America but I buy mine from a discount store chain we have in Australia, they are $3 and under there but the branded ones are around $8 to $10 in the LSS so I buy the cheaper ones.

For any of you who have melted your own from beads, does it stink up your kitchen? I made some at home using Perler beads. There was a mild odor that kind of gave me a headache, but I am very sensitive to smells. Mine didn't get very flat, so I don't use them much as they are too high in my opinion to use in 3x4 pockets. And since I had to cook them so long, many "burned" and changed colors. All the light blue ones are now a weird army green color with a brown dot on the middle. The white ones turned brown too. I have a gas oven, so don't know if that mattered, but I had to have the heat at 450 and "bake" them for about 40 minutes before they would even melt. The Perler beads were just purchased right before that from Michaels, so I don't think they were old. I heard that can matter.

For any of you who have melted your own from beads, does it stink up your kitchen? There was a mild odor but nothing that was really troubling. I baked each color separately and kept an eye on when they flattened out because some of the colors melt faster than others. I'm wanting to say that it was around 20 mins for most.

The Perler beads come in a new tiny size that I've wanted to try in addition to the regular size and the jumbo ones. I'm pretty sensitive to smells and it didn't bother me at all, but for full disclosure I did it in the summer with the windows and patio door open while the oven was on. I think I had the oven set at 350* for maybe 30 minutes for the regular size? You have to watch them closely once they start melting. I've never done the pony beads because I read that those do stink pretty bad when they melt.

I get mine from sites like Peachy Cheap when they have them. I "may" get two or three of their deals when they have several packages for around $10.00. That site, and Scrapbook Steals runt he occasional deal on enamel dots. If you are not signed up, you can sign up for their e-mails so you will know when they have them.
