Anyone have experience with it, a natural herb to help with anxiety and insomnia?

Valerian root is an old remedy. I would go to a health food store and ask about it. Of course, I'd ask your western doc first just to make sure it's safe for you and w/your other meds.

Thought you were talking about the movie. Valerian Root is very good at helping a person relax...should be dropped into water/tea (I suggest Yogi Bedtime or Comfrey herbal tea) a couple of hours before sleep. Herb Pharm has a good tincture available. Word of warning, use the lowest dosage until you know how sensitive you may be to it. Also, it doesn't taste great, lol.

I sometimes take the capsules and have to hold my breath and swallow them quickly - even the smell of the capsules is bad! But in combination with Melatonin it helps, Melatonin helps me get to sleep and the Valerian seems to help me stay asleep. My rheumatologist suggested it to me. SaveSave

Thanks. It's for a family member going through a rough time and they wanted to try this route before any type of prescription

I took it when I worked nights. I felt it was effective with no side effects for me. I only took it 2-3 times a week, as it loses effectiveness with time.

It does smell awful, but will help you sleep. However, for some people it can give them weird dreams. I am one of these people.

I drank Valerian tea when I really couldn't sleep, it had peppermint as well so it didn't taste too bad and I found it worked for me.
