Ive started using a sulfate free shampoo, and had been using a light weight but good hold hairspray from sallys, ion brand. Can't always get there tho and wondered about something else that can be bought at Wal-Mart or pharmacy?

I think perhaps you mean "good hold" hairspray! I have a picture of food being held in your hair with industrial strength hair spray!

My favorite I have used for years and years is "Freeze It" hairspray. It's in a gold can at Wal-Mart. I have never seen it anywhere else. Edited because I had the name wrong. Oops.

There us nothing better than Elnette by Loreal IMO, and I've tried a LOT of sprays. DD is always bringing home expensive salon brands for me to try and none of them are as fine while still holding as well as Elnette. I don't know if it's at Wal-Mart but it's definitely at Rite-Aid, CVS, and Walgreens.

I used to use some $$$ Aveda spray, but it seemed a bit extravagant when I went from a FT corporate job to SAHM. I found this similar TRESemme spray that I love. I get it at Target but imagine WalMart probably has it too.

I used to use Tresemme, but I like the Elnett better. I will recommend getting the Unscented because I personally don't like the regular scent. I buy it at Meijers Grocery. They had it on sale last week - buy 1 can, get a second 50% off.

If it were longer, maybe that could make a difference too. I know many that use it and love it but as all products go, you have to find what works best for you. Hope you find that perfect one!

I had this one and it made my hair sticky and unable to brush! This is one of the brands my daughter uses to shellac her hair for a performance. It's usually available at Target or Walgreens. Her hair is in a bun, so don't know that she's every tried to brush after applying - but she considers it a good whispie killer and will hold through multiple performances.

Another vote for Elnett! It's the only hairspray I can use and not have to wash my hair daily. Great all day hold and brushes right out at night.

Another vote for Elnett - I've tried lots over the years but now only purchase this - even hubby knows not to buy me anything else if he's doing the shopping

The smell of Ellnet reminds me of the dreaded old lady smell everyone wants to avoid.
I like Aussie flexible hold.

The smell of Ellnet reminds me of the dreaded old lady smell everyone wants to avoid. I like Aussie flexible hold. That part is true--I buy unscented. There is still a trace of scent but it fades. It's not enough to keep me from using it and I HATE old lady perfume!

Just a FYI, if you're using a sulfate free shampoo, you may have a problem with hairspray building up on your hair.

I love suave flexible hold, the number 3, not the stiffer 4. It's in a silver/ purple aerosol can. Holds my style but is touchable! At Walmart for a couple bucks.
