I have been wanting to start documenting more current events...hopefully I get my butt in gear soon. I just need to get a good work flow going I guess.

I don't scrap anything political. I might include a pic or two about current events if something happens on one of my vacations - that's mostly what I scrap rather than everyday life.

No, I don't generally scrap current events. It seems like more of a PL thing and I don't do that. That said, I have been journalling about the latest attack in London (it happened right on my 'patch') over the last couple of days and plan to make a page from it. I should! I have all these ideas in my head, but they are never executed on paper. One album I've wanted to do for a long time is Where were you when.....? Big events in history like 9/11, The Challenger explosion, or smaller things like first time I voted. Regardless of who wins, some events in history are more etched in our minds. I *love* that idea! 9/11 is definitely one I have strong memories of, and the death of Princess Diana is another.

But memes, oh how i love memes. They capture a moment in time so perfectly Absolutely! I think that's why I put odd bits and pieces in my PL. They provide a kind of framework on which to hang all the stuff I'm doing (and recording). I understand the reasons for scrapping just the happy stuff, but I use PL to record my life, which presents all kinds of challenges, triumphs and disasters. I don't make everything immediately visible and there's a lot tucked behind other things, but for me, it's important to be honest and include things I'm not especially happy about, especially when a few days/weeks/months later I can add "phew" in there somewhere as well

I don't generally scrap political stuff and don't plan to scrap Trump. I was pretty involved in the recall effort against Scott Walker though and am thinking about scrapping that but I haven't done so yet.

I kinda want to document the Comey hearings today. Me too. I was thinking I could just use some of the 8 billion alpha stamp sets I already own and make these phrases myself. Or some of the 4 trillion alpha stickers I have. Or maybe even the computer printer. Eek!

I am keeping a journal these days and my political-related ponderings go in there. Also I have a line-a-day 5 year journal and I include major events in there. I think it helps to give context and makes it more interesting. I saw an interesting video by Danny Gregory (who does a lot of sketchbooks) and he had bought some old journals in thrift stores. The ones that gave social and political context were far more interesting than ones which solely focused on the writers life. With that said, I wouldn't include them in my scrapbooks because I use those as a 'highlights reel' that is just about my life.^^^ I have seen line-a-day 5 year journals before, and they're intriguing- I think I'd have a hard time sticking with it, but I can definitely see the appeal of it, looking back on it from the future perspective. My SBs are also more 'highlights' about places we go / things we do, and don't typically include current events at all. Even if I do pocket pages for monthly-roundup type pages (which I always have good intentions of doing, but don't keep up with), they're more for just the 'random' photos than a 'current events' type layout. (and I laughed out loud at whoever called him 'agent orange' LOL!!) Can I share the French president, too?!? ETA: I really like that stamp set! But like LavenderLayoutLady, I could make those phrases myself with my alpha stamps or stickers... I just gotta do it. I have lots of ideas like that; I just never follow through on them.

I put current events in my art journal or planner, not in my scrapbooks.

Yes, I do. But, I do it in Project Life, not on my regular scrapbook layouts. I use PL in the digital app, so it is so easy to capture headlines from online sources, Twitter, Instagram, and events from my Facebook feed. Since many of these current events will have an effect on my life and the future lives of my family, I try to capture one or two of the big events each week. Sometimes I include things like pop culture, too. Adam West will be a part of this week. From the beginning of the 2016 election season, it's been difficult to narrow down the "important stuff" without having it take over my book, but I feel some of it needs to be there.

I don't scrap current events in general. And unless I find myself in the middle of a rally or attend a speech, I don't see myself scrapping politics at all.
My scrapbooks are for the most part my happy place, where everyone is happy and loved.

My scrapbooks are for the most part my happy place, where everyone is happy and loved. Same here. I'm the type that relives the bad stuff over and over in my head, putting it on paper for *me* is not healthy. It's on paper and now I can dwell on it more by going to that page. I also don't like the idea of having it all out there for others to see. If I were to do something with more meaning than typical life events, I wouldn't put in public spaces in my home.

I have a whole art journal about the election/presidency and I've included pics of headlines, screenshots of the tv and presidential tweets, etc. in my PL album. I'm very politically active, though, so it's a big part of my life...I have pictures from the Women's March, from the Pride parade, etc. The "where were you when" album is a cool idea!

I did a layout for each of my girls about the election and both candidates only because it was the first election both of them could vote in.

I have something political I think I'm going to include. Apparently, unbeknownst to me until a little while ago, today is the 50th anniversary of the Loving v. Virgnia ruling that legalized interracial marriage country wide. Being that my marriage is an interracial one, this directly impacts me. I also have plans (I'm behind, don't judge, lol) to include the more recent ruling legalizing gay marriage, but the Loving ruling touches home a bit more for me. I plan to find a photo of the Lovings and set it up Polaroid style in photoshop and then put a caption underneath of the case name, the ruling date and the ruling. I think it will be explanatory enough.
