I was seriously bummed that I missed it too. I plan on commenting on the blog hop to try to win one. Will just have to see how lucky I am!

why oh why did I look .. LOL.... I LOVE the april kit and of course that is sold out. Is that the rain/weather themed one? I've only ever bought two kits...the Autumnal one with all of the leaves last fall and that weather one. I felt like this month's was adorable and even hubby commented on the sunset die being really neat (it would make a great spooky moon for Halloween) and the first 6x8 stamp set kit that I really liked...but I kept thinking about it in terms of me using it. I thought it would be great for our trip to the zoo...but the kit costs almost as much as the trip to the zoo, lol. So I wanted to wait until my husband got home to talk it out with him and refreshed 5 minutes before he got here to see it had already sold out. ETA: nope, that was Feb, I think...April was a dress up type kit.

ETA: nope, that was Feb, I think...April was a dress up type kit. OMG they are all so nice...the mermaid one...the rain one...the zoo one...I could go on and on They are. And they keep increasing quantities and having record sell outs even with the increased number in kits. If I were a cardmaker, I would subscribe without hesitation, but I'm not. I gravitate toward the kits that can be utilized in traditional scrapbooking as well. I loved the fall one I picked up because it was great for making DIY ephemera with all of the little leaf dies and then the weather one was obvious because it's great for project life. I've used them both...most of my stamps are must haves and don't get used right away, but I did use both of those kits pretty quickly. This one was another I was considering for project life, but yeah...waited too long. I put out an ISO (it won't be the end of the world if I don't get it, but I'd really like to have it) and someone in a group said she's considering selling hers. If the price is close to what I would have gotten from the site, I'll bite. But secondhand, these kits go for a lot. The mermaid one was going for $96 on ebay (actual bids, not including shipping). If the person does cost plus shipping and PP fees (Hero does priority shipping, but it can go first class) it should be within a dollar or two of what it would have been directly from Hero.

I found the kit on ebay. There were 2 listings with BIN prices of 110 and 119.99...sold out within hours. Uhm...NO THANK YOU. There is one with add-ons that is currently over $260...that just isn't happening. I did, however, put out my ISO fast enough...someone told me she didn't think she'd want it before it even shipped and I kept in touch with her via IM. She's actually keeping a few pieces and selling to me for a really good price. All I want are the stamps and dies anyway, so the things she wants to keep don't bother me in the least. I'm stoked!! I just can't believe how these things are selling. I think the Hero Arts kits are the new Studio Calico!!!! But with a much better reputation and in house production for many things. I almost want to buy 2 every month I think the kits will be huge and sell off one on eBay to pay for mine...because damn, none of them are even going for the advertised retail pricing, they are going for close to double the retail value, and 3 or 4 times the kit cost from Hero. The funniest thing is that these are CARD KITS (I pick up ones that I think can be used in PL, though, because I'm not a card maker) and didn't someone say that no one has time for that anymore? Hmmm...me thinks someone was very very wrong.

I saw it...the reserve is probably at least $100 (not the $40.74 at most they spent counting shipping), but I'm trying not to jinx the kit I bought by mentioning the specifics from the person who sold it to me until it's in my hands. I'm nervous that she's going to suddenly realize how much she could get for it, refund me and head to eBay! Here's hoping that I get a shipping notice today or tomorrow. I can't wait to get it...I'm thinking that there is a lot that can be done with the kit and if I don't have an active project on my desk when I get it then I'm going to have some fun making PL cards ahead of working on our trip to the zoo from our vacation in April. My husband's favorite animal is the hippo and while I already have a hippo birthday set from Lawn Fawn, I think I'm going to make him a birthday card with this kit, too, since it includes a hippo birthday sentiment as well...wayyyy early of course, since his birthday isn't until November.

Now, I'll go ahead and disclose the price! She kept the three mini ink cubes and took $5 off the price!!!!!! With shipping, I got it for $33.75!! I am so excited!!

Do you get to see the monthly kit before you subscribe? Or do you have to subscribe first and then hope it's a good one?

Do you get to see the monthly kit before you subscribe? Or do you have to subscribe first and then hope it's a good one? From what a subscriber mentioned on their FB page, it looks like subscribers are charged on the 24th the prior month. They do not get to see the kit and opt to skip, so they have to hope they like the kit...I don't know what the cancellation window is like, but the kit is charged prior to sneak peeks most months. These kits have a great resale value most months (eBay is flooded with kits listed for anywhere from $75-$200) and sell out quickly, so it's not a terrible risk to take. They do not, however, force you to commit to a subscription. You just get free shipping automatically if you do subscribe (for me, it's $5.75 for priority shipping for just the kit) and $9.99 if you are international. Given that it's free shipping over $50 on their site anyway, it's not worth it to me to take that risk because I don't have much use for most kits. For some people, though, they don't remember to visit the site when the kits launch and often missed out on kits they wanted making a subscription a great option because they save money on shipping AND don't have to remember to set an alarm for the first Monday every month. I, however, have an alarm on my phone (although it was set to busy...no clue how...so I hadn't gotten notifications the past few months, but I fixed it) so I am reminded to check it out.

I'm guessing since they allow 2 kits / household that many of those 2nd kits are going straight to eBay...some of the sold prices there are unbelievable!!
