I'm just not sure what to do about dinner. It might be chicken and rice soup, featuring a Costco chicken made in the Instant Pot. I don't want to heat up the house and at the same time I want to use this roast chicken. Guess I figured out my dinner plan as I typed. Gee, that was convenient.
What's on your menu?
Have a great Friday and a truly enjoyable weekend.

I have no idea. Dh hasn't mentioned it yet. I'm sitting with my Dad so I haven't been home yet. I'll probably have some chicken and veggies. I'm guessing he'll order out although after I saw what we spent in eating/ordering out last month I hope he doesn't.

DS is driving up from the Bay Area this morning and we have a 3:30 tee time up above Placerville. It should be a few degrees cooler up there. We'll stop somewhere after golf to eat dinner. Stay cool everyone who lives in areas affected by this heat wave.

I've got a couple little gluten-free pizza crusts in the freezer. I think I'll haul those out at lunch time to defrost, and we'll have pizza. I'll have to pick up some cheese and pepperoni. BF can eat a gf pizza or pick one up somewhere.

Every*single*night* they both want to be fed. A riot will start if I don't come up with something. My guess is chicken. It will be something I can make out on the BBQ. (We got a new one. Yay!) Steak would be ok, too.

We are not yet thinking about dinner, even though it is 6:30 pm. We have just arrived home from a wonderful day out touring vineyards in Les Apilles, south of Avignon. We went to two wineries, than stopped in a small village where we had lunch in the courtyard of a lovely restaurant, then continued on to two more wineries. We bought 5 boxes of wine (half dozen each) as well as some other small souvenir items.
We will probably end up going to one of the restaurants in the plaza outside the hotel - the weather is fine and it s not far to walk.

I just found half a carton of the fantastic chile verde my brother gets from a Mexican deli in the Mission hidden in the back of my fridge (on the top shelf where things start to freeze). It's a week old, but if it's still good, I'm eating that. It's like gold around here.

My Dad is doing pretty well for someone we thought was weeks from death less than a month ago! He knows who we are about 75% of the time. He's up walking a little bit and generally getting stronger. Right now he's telling me to leave...he thinks he doesn't need "babysitting".
Thanks for asking 😊

I'm trying a new recipe tonight, chili mac and cheese. Basically mac and cheese with meat and chili seasonings. With a salad. And, since DH is going out, more yummy cantalope.

We did clear out the leftovers last night!! Daughter is having a friend spend the night tonight, so I would think pizza will be on the menu. We may just do homemade french bread pizza. That way everyone can get what they want.

Maybe a pizza for delivery. That way there are some leftovers in the fridge for lunch tomorrow. That way DBF can have something to take in his lunch for work tomorrow.

Dinner plans are still up in the air. I'm waiting to see how DH feels when he gets home. He's had a rough health and work week. Dinner will be based on how he looks when he walks in the door.
Last night was pitiful but delicious! Can't believe it, but we had mashed potatoes and ice cream. Sometimes it's just good to be an adult and eat what you want.

Let's see it must be time to decide what to cook for food again.....I am thinking that tonight will be fish night. Along with that fish we will be having some sort of sweet potato and the rest of the fruit salad from the other night.....
Happy, Happy Friday Everyone!

Yes. A bit out of sorts because I got my hair cut at 9:00 this morning and then spent four hours running errands, shopping at boring places, fixing a tire, getting propane for the grill and gasoline for the car. I did manage to eat a good lunch on my return.
So, tonight is sausage and pinto bean tacos with a ton of fresh fruit in a salad. And warmed up peanut butter cookies.
Thanks for the thread.

Heat wave has hit my area of southern California. So I have been fixing stove top style meals to keep the oven off.
Last night was sticky pineapple apricot chicken over steamed rice with green beans.
Tonight dh and I are having Giada DeL's brown butter and pea cheese tortellini with a french baguette. Dd will have a brat, fruit, and left over rice.

Well DH surprised me yesterday by coming home. I hadn't seen him since Sunday and he had an unexpected night off. We went out for pizza last night. Tonight I finally made the catfish with rice and broccoli. DS and I dined alone. KelleeM I'm so glad you are getting to spend this much time with your dad. Sending you lots of hugs.

So he who sometimes decides dinner decided tonight that turkey burgers are what he wants. So that is what I am making. I like them a lot so that's a good thing. DS likes them, too.
I am frying a sweet onion, multi-coloured cherry tomatoes, and nothing for dessert as everyone is on a diet. (Even though ice cream seems to get eaten regularly.)

We went to MILs to drop off step-FILs fathers day card and listen to MIL bitch about everything. I think my favorite was when she talked about her "sinus infection" that she came down with a month ago. Remember when she intentionally breathed on me when she was sick? Yeah. Sinus infections are not contagious and you don't "come down" with one. It was all I could do to keep from saying something. Anyway, she lives near our favorite Coney island, so we went and ate Coney dogs and chili fries.

It's after 6 and I still don't know. Dh and I had salad bar and shared a slice of pizza for lunch. I'm low-carb-ing, and I am sooooooo sick of salad. I figured a half slice of pizza would be okay and help stop me from going on a crazy binge! I'm a carboholic, but this low carb diet is the only one that works well for me, I've lost 30 pounds! It's so hot, we don't really want anything hot, I think we'll just nibble and fend for ourselves tonight. I might have some egg salad on celery or lettuce leaves.

I was dead tired when I got home from work. But I talk ed to make my Asian casserole thing with rice. I'd have collapsed after but DH was grumpy so I took the kids to the mall.

My youngest dd had her wisdom teeth out today. She was afraid she'd end up with a blood clot and didn't sleep last night. She had 3 clots after her knee surgery in august. Coincidentally the hospital that initially saw her for the clots decided to re-bill us for that ER visit. For some reason they refunded our insurance. Someone decided that our insurance wasn't our primary. I spent 3 1/2 hours on the phone with them & Anthem. Now the entire thing has to be rebilled. I decided to ask for itemized charges because the bill seemed high for a 4 hour ER visit with no IV or labs.So we'll see. After that I didn't feel like cooking so we ordered pizza.

Way to go! teddyw, ugh! Dealing with insurance companies can be such a nightmare. I hope your dd's recovery from having her wisdom teeth removed is quick and trouble free!
