Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that we’re doing “Christmas in July” here on the general scrapbooking board. I've posted on the stamping and NSBR board so everyone will know. Plus it gives us time to think about and gather supplies to use. Dig out the boxes of Christmas/Holiday supplies you finally put away in March. (not that I did that, cough* cough*). I was yammering on right around Christmas that next year I was going to start preparing in July. I have a stocking that needs fixed, I haven't sent holiday cards in years, I had several homemade presents I wanted to do, but by the time November rolls around, I'm neck deep in life and holiday things as it is. grammadee, decided to hold me to the idea by asking me to host something on the board. Thanks, Dee, because if I hadn't said yes, I would totally be pushing off Christmas things again. This is not only a chance to work on cards, gift tags, your daily December, your old holiday layouts, but also, work on anything craft wise – home décor items, homemade gifts, etc. Whether you are knitting, sewing, paper crafting, painting, beading, or whatever! I thought we could share our goals, progress, and ideas. But I'm open to whatever you would like to see/do. I have some pinterest boards I've been working up that I'll share as well. Would you like different threads to discuss different things (cards, layouts, home decor, gifts) or just a general thread?

Merry Christmas!
I like the idea of keeping it all together in one thread. Looking forward to seeing what everyone creates!

I still need to finish my DD 2015...I have an entire Raskog dedicated to those supplies and it's been floating around my scraproom for about a year and a half...time to get it done so I can use that sucker for something else (I am thinking of dedicating one cart to all of my 6x6 paper pads...I need them out of where I store them now because I'm out of room for all of my new Thickers...they share a space, lol). All I really need to do is embellish and journal...the cards are all there! I've only completely finished the first few pages, though.

This sounds like a lot of fun. It still feels like it should be April though, of course our current heat wave may change my thinking on that.
I love that you are including anything Christmas.

I'm in. I was working on Christmas cards earlier this year for a while and got out of the mood. This is just the thing to get me back in it.

sounds awesome - I have December 2016 to finish up the 2016 album...and I'm guessing Dec 2015 needs to be done as well (and probably some other Decembers also...I always start off January with a bang and fizzle out during the summer)

This is awesome. I can create my christmas cards while watching the Hallmark Channel's Christmas In July movie marathons! I'm almost out of recorded Christmas movies to watch (I recorded about 2 days worth in November and watch them here and there)...can you believe I had NO CLUE they did a marathon in July? I'll have to look it up and record some new ones. There was one that was in commercials for almost all of the ones I've watched so far that wasn't in my recorded ones...it was kind of like Family Man (was that the movie where Nicolas Cage wishes he had gotten married???) but in reverse. I've seen the ad so much, I want to see it, lol. Might be filling up the DVR next month!!

Would you like different threads to discuss different things (cards, layouts, home decor, gifts) or just a general thread? I would like just one thread, just so I always know right where to go. Thanks for this idea. I have no idea what I will work on. Part of me would love to make cards, but the last few years I have been ordering photo cards, and that is almost too easy to give up. I've decided to not do a December Daily this year, and instead just add layouts to my regular album. I've done DD for 3 years in a row, and I realized I'm making up celebrations just to match the pretty papers and embellishments, and not really just living in the moment. Too much pressure.

I would love to start working on Christmas cards! I plan to work on 12 Days Ornaments while at softball games all weekends for the next few months. This is where I got the patterns-I think it will be an easy, light project to transport to the fields! mmmcrafts.blogspot.com/

All I really need to do is embellish and journal...the cards are all there! I've only completely finished the first few pages, though. Thank you! I thought I was the only one who hadn't finished some Christmas 2015 layouts. I think I procrastinated because the quality of the photos was really bad. I still had my DD's layouts to do. I did a two page spread last night, plus a pocket page for 4x6 photos to go between the traditional layouts. DONE! I kept it simple and tossed the extra photos.

This is just an excuse to buy that Photo Play Mad 4 Plaid line, isn't it? Oh my gosh, I am lusting after that collection! But, I have 4 Iris boxes of Christmas stuff, so I am trying to be strong. Last year I bought a warehouse box of Christmas paper and embellishments from MME. There was a ton of stuff!

Such a great idea! I still have my 2016 Christmas photos to do. I never finished because I couldn't decide if I wanted to do DD or just in my regular PL. Whole box of fancy supplies from Felicity Jane just sitting in the box waiting to be used. Thanks for the nudge in the right direction!

I've decided to not do a December Daily this year, and instead just add layouts to my regular album. I've done DD for 3 years in a row, and I realized I'm making up celebrations just to match the pretty papers and embellishments, and not really just living in the moment. Too much pressure. I tried it DD one year. I was even in a swap to make pages for it. Then I felt pressured to fill out each day. Since we didn't do what I considered holiday stuff every day maybe once a week from the decoration weekend weekend after Thanksgiving to the actual 24/25th, needless to say I gave up before the month was over. I still love the idea of a prettily decorated album all about Christmas - just daily doesn't work for me either. I plan to work on 12 Days Ornaments while at softball games all weekends for the next few months. This is where I got the patterns-I think it will be an easy, light project to transport to the fields! mmmcrafts.blogspot.com/Thanks for sharing this. I like the goose a laying, but on the side bar is an Operation Incognito with mustaches and beards which is so cute. I have a niece and grand niece that might like that. Last year I bought a warehouse box of Christmas paper and embellishments from MME. There was a ton of stuff! Me too. I've decided to do most of my Christmas pages digitally, and I'm still debating a couple of Christmas collections, which I obviously don't need.

This is awesome. I can create my christmas cards while watching the Hallmark Channel's Christmas In July movie marathons! That's exactly what I was going to suggest doing. I just saw Hallmark promoting it last weekend. Is it the middle two weeks in July? I need to make Christmas cards early this year (to sell) so Christmas in July is probably a good time to work on that since I'm not going to be able to wait until December like I would prefer.
